Thank you so much for checking it out and for the feedback, we really appreciate it <3

If you started seeing only Bertha selling a Vase forever right after her selling the Dinnerware, then that's because the game ran out of different encounters (we were planning to make at least 4 more, and had already drawn the rest of the characters, but we didn't have time to make the objects and dialogues). We didn't have time to make a screen explaining it or anything, but we'll have that into account when expanding the game!

Regarding the music, we were quite sad not to have the battle song ready for the game before the deadline, so I totally get it :(.

About everything else, thank you for your words! Probably part of the reason we couldn't do that much content was precisely having to implement a game engine from scratch in jam time... (scene transitions, cutscene staging and so on). It's a terrible way to make a game in a short timespan but an awesome way to learn about game development and about designing complex systems! I can also say that my boyfriend (who mainly focused on making all the artwork) is really happy to see that you found it cute!

We still have to play your game (as we have already a quite long list of games we want to check out properly as they deserve <3), but we'll check it out :D.

HII, I'm the artist (using my boyfriend's account) !! Thank you so much for your words, it's the first time I design a videogame so this comment really cheers me up <3

Thank you so much, we're so glad you liked the idea and its execution <3
We'll definitely check out yours too! We already have a list of games to play, but we'll get to it <333

Thank you so much! My bf did all the art (hi I'm boyfriend, thank you sm! it was my first time making art for a videogame jjjj), so we're both glad you liked it <3.

Regarding the audio, we were planning on making more tracks and sound effects, but we just had time to make the music and title tracks and some basic sound effects :/.

We'll check yours, looks incredibly professional at a just first glance!

Here's the one my boyfriend and I made (it's his first jam hehe): https://segfaultdev.itch.io/onettis-trusty-shop

Thanks!

Hi! This is the game my boyfriend and I made: https://segfaultdev.itch.io/onettis-trusty-shop

Hi! This is the game my boyfriend and I made (the story is a bit funny): https://segfaultdev.itch.io/onettis-trusty-shop

Well, mine's a bit funny:

I have participated in a couple of jams before (two GMTKs and a tool jam), and my boyfriend wanted to try participating in one with me. The thing is, while we are planning on moving together soon, we still are living with our respective parents, so we decided to go big, risk it all and rent a short-stay apartment in another city and live together for 8 days to participate in this jam, and we're really happy with the experience and the result (although we didn't see the city that much because we were way too focused on the game)!

With regards to the game story, we originally planned on making a game about being a bus driver in a city infested with zombies that infiltrate into society that has to decide whether to trust passengers not to be zombies. Then we realized we thought of that story just because we were in the middle of an 8.5-hour bus travel to where we were staying when the theme was announced :/.

My boyfriend also thought of making a game where you play as a school teacher that gets pranked on by their students, slowly leveling up to each school year up to university. I didn't fully like the idea and was afraid of the idea being too big for the jam, so we ended up scrapping it and reaching our final idea:

The actual game we ended up making tells the story of two psychopath siblings that inherited their parents' pawn shop after their mysterious death (the idea was that they most likely killed them), and have to keep the business alive. However, they happen to be incredibly good at manipulating people to get decent deals, so they do that. We were wondering if just having a conversation simulator to get deals (or any other similar ways of implementing it) were going to be enjoyable, so I thought of making it a card game, with the excuse that they are obsessed with card games (and a bit bad at social interactions), so they gamify every conversation internally as a card fight. With the 7 customers we designed with care and love and the 27 cards, each one of one of 7 different types we thought of, that meant we would have to write over 300 unique dialogues keeping in mind the different personalities of the characters. Of course, this was too much for the jam, but we only realized at the very end of the jam, so we ended up with only 3 characters (and each only having about 7 out of the 27 card responses available), just making it playable enough.

We do plan on finishing it up as our not-so-little personal project, though!

My boyfriend and I enjoyed talking to the villagers (which made the wizard pretty suspicious right after the first one we talked to) and doing the animal puzzle and the maze!

The gameplay was relaxing, although it would be interesting if the attack mechanic was used a bit more in the maze (and it's almost impossible to lose against the wizard lmao). We would also have loved to have some more puzzles before the grand reveal, but other than that, the game is awesome and good job!

Thank you so much for playing it and for your kind words! We knew already the game was kinda incomplete, especially in regards to sound design, but we'll work on that!

Graphics are great, and the music integrates quite well into the game! Both my boyfriend and I really like the idea of having unknown lots and having items to display, it's great! It would be nice to have some way of negotiating prices and not just accepting or rejecting, but that's it.

Thank you for playing it, and we're glad you enjoyed it! Regarding the music, we were in the middle of making a battle track and some more sounds for the game, but we were short of time to finish them <3

Thank you for playing it and for your kind comment! We're both so happy to see people notice the details and care we put into the game <3

It's about manipulating people into making better deals with you, as a second-hand shop owner.

It's not as polished as we would wanted it to be, but we're sure you'll like to meet all the characters and suck their blood for money!

(we did design four more characters, we just didn't have time to make their dialogues and objects :p)

I'm so glad you liked the throwable boxes in menus, we thought it would be an awesome way to introduce the mechanic (try throwing it against the title made out of pieces). Thanks for playing it!

Thank you so much for playing it, and I'm so happy you found it fun! And yeah, the moment you see the timer and you start trying not to throw any single piece away is where it gets messy and falls :p

Thank you so much for checking our game out! <3

(1 edit)

I'm glad you liked it, thank you!!! We literally broke the music on one of the last changes before the final build, and we didn't notice until a minute or so before the final deadline ):

Thank you so much for playing our game! I'm really glad you liked it <3333

Took me a sec to understand what I was supposed to do (absolutely my fault for not reading the itch.io page lmao), but after I got it I really enjoyed it! The core concept is fun, I love the graphics and, even though the parkour feels out of place, I liked it :D

Extra points for providing a Linux build, I'm tired of having to "wine" through most entries here (;

Thank you so much for checking out our game, and I'm glad you liked it! It's clear we didn't try to hide the Undertale inspiration lmao (;

I really like this kind of physics based and stacking games too, will definitely check yours in the morning (it's like midnight here) <33333

On my computer, it's complaining about not having the Visual C++ Runtime, though I just installed all versions from 2005 through 2022. I'm using wine though, so could I know which version I need exactly, or get privately a Linux build (if that's allowed)? I'm segfaultdev on Discord.

Your game looks real cool, I can't wait to try it out <3

The idea is awesome and quite original, and from all the games I have tried so far, this is definitely in the top best looking games <3

Now, as many have pointed out before me, the game is incredibly hard, it literally took me around 10 attempts to reach the first chord change, and around 10 more to even reach the first enemies. I might try getting further later, but I'm not much of a game grinder, so it's hard doing that many attempts without getting desperate.

With that said, I really liked it, so congrats!!! :D

Aww thank you so much!!! :D

Thank you so much for playing it, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! None of us in the team are artists or musicians whatsoever, so hearing you say that about the artwork and the music makes me so happy!

Thank you for playing it on stream, and I'm really glad you liked it! Will be definitely making the specials clearer post-jam (and fixing the music lmao), so thanks for the feedback too!

Thanks for the awesome feedback, and I'm glad you liked it!

Aww thank you so much! :D

Thank you for checking it out!

Oh and the rotation thing, yeah, I was trying to make it so turning the mouse in circles would easily rotate the pieces, but I honestly had no idea of how to make that, and with just 4 days decided to do the best I could instead. Still, I'm really glad you liked it!

Saw it on Tom's stream and really enjoyed it, and the idea is quite funny :D

God forgive me for not making the burger high enough though ):

Reached until level 12, though I didn't even try solving it as I saw way too many shapes and it's late here (will do tomorrow :D). Nonetheless, the idea of the game is definitely one of the most original so far, and both its execution and style are flawless, so congrats!

Thank you so much for playing it on stream before, I really appreciate it! <3

It's 4 AM and my brain can't do math right now, but I got halfway through and I absolutely loved the graphics, the aesthetic and the core concept, plus it's perfectly executed, good job! :D

Will definitely (try to) play it in its entirety when I wake up, I promise...
