If he was wanting to rig his own vote, I feel like he’d do it in a less obvious way. Like he could’ve just added several hundred of his own votes instead of removing them and people would be less likely to catch on. I know thegeeb81’s math showed some discrepancies, but did I miss something where someone found actual proof? I’m not saying it’s impossible for him to have done that, but wouldn’t it be better to criticize him on the things we actually know about than to wait for an apology for something we don’t?

I mentioned in an earlier comment about how I still had confidence in this game despite everything that went wrong with it, both in and out of Arc’s control. I don’t really have that confidence anymore. I was hoping his “Back to the drawing board” post could be a grand return that could get everyone on board, but I feel like SO many things were mishandled after that. The voting system in the first poll splitting people who wouldn’t want the nose, the apparent VPN vote situation that happened twice, even bringing up the “steamy” style as a possible option when there were tells of an AI filter on it, etc.

Heck, I’m one of the ones who prefers the nosey style over the old one, but at this point, a lot of these issues could be fixed by just ditching it and going back to the old style.

I know circumstances haven’t treated Arc well in trying to get this game made, and I still wish him the best and hope things will turn out better, but right now I’m not really feeling like I want to stick around for now. I’m hoping that changes in the future.

Edit: May stick around just because Typeusernamehere’s comments are really funny.

This was actually a really well written comment and made me reconsider some things. I personally like the nosey style, but the points you brought up about it and the old koikatsu styles made a lot of sense. (Much more appreciated than the things another person is saying about people who like the nosey style).

I’m hoping that Arc’s able to see this somehow.

It’s just a poll asking how people want the game to look going forward and a list of pros and cons that would come from each style. The game potentially being able to go to Steam was listed as a pro for the hand drawn, so that’ll just happen if people vote for it.

I personally don’t prefer it since I feel the 3D models are tied to the game’s identity and you’d lose out on stuff like animations. (And yes, I’m also really hoping TheGeeb81’s reasons for suspicion don’t turn out to be true. It doesn’t seem like something Arc would do, but if it is and that option wins the poll, then yeah I’m out).

I understand the hate a lot of people have for this game and its dev. Playing a game that’s nearing its climax and then being left with radio silence for nearly a year will make you lose trust in a dev. Finding out the game had to be reworked due to coding issues, and then seeing that most of the rework’s demo is almost unrecognizable from the game you’ve played and supported will make you lose trust in a dev. Hearing promises that the game will continue development and return to the point it was originally in a matter of months, only for those months to go by with even more radio silence will make you lose trust in a dev. On top of this, things outside the dev’s control like SubscribeStar banning ANY mind control will make you lose faith that the game could EVER be the same as the one you originally played and loved. I understand why people are mad, and in many ways, I think they’re right to be so. (Except for some bad faith arguments in these comments which I think go a little overboard).

But after following this game for so long and seeing everything it has gone through, if there’s one thing I believe, it’s that the Arc cares about it. I feel even more confident in saying this after reading the most recent update log. If he didn’t care, I think he would have given up on it when the amount of bugs caused by updates became overwhelming and he had to restart. Or when he released the rework that people were disappointed with. Or even after he’s been silent on here for several months and nearly every comment with a positive number of upvotes is cooking him and the game.

I’m not defending every decision Arc has made. I think he’s made mistakes, especially regarding communication, and I’d bet that he’d say the same. But he’s come back and reaffirmed that he’s STILL going to try his hardest to bring back the characters, locations, interactions, etc. from the previous game, and is wanting to hear from the audience about what they want from it going forward. He’s still wanting to make Corrupted Kingdoms, and wanting to make sure it’s the Corrupted Kingdoms that his players want. Granted, he’s said similar things to this already at the start of this year, and I imagine many people will think it won’t turn out any different than then. I mean, heck, I wrote a post similar to this one at that time too. But what gives me hope is just the fact that he hasn’t given up in spite of almost everything about this game being against his favor.

I don’t blame people if they disagree with me. Maybe I’m just naive. But I hope that things will work out this time as the game moves forward, and hopefully some of that broken trust can be rebuilt overtime.

I don’t think I’ve ever gotten to that point. What restaurants are you going to

The stephkitty and soldier09 beef will hold me over until the next update releases.

The reason he couldn’t finish the remake was because the old code from act 1 was causing way too many bugs to appear any time he tried to add new content.

And he also said the new version should be back to where the old version left off in a few months. It may be longer since I doubt you can know these things for sure, but yeah it’s not gonna be 10 years or anything.

He said all of this in the post for v.0.2.1 on this site.

I'm really looking forward to what's to come in the future and it makes me pretty excited to hear that we'll be back to where the old version left off in only a few months. But even if it ends up taking longer than that, I'm more than willing to wait. Cause not only did you go back and basically rebuild the earlier parts of the game, but you're also adding new content to those parts. By all means, take your time if needed to make it perfect.

I know a lot of people have been hesitant on the new stuff shown in the prologue (I mean, I still am a tiny bit for some things), but I'm hoping it's just gonna take a little getting used to, and that that opinion will shift overtime. Overall, I'm excited for the future.

0.2.0 update just released on SubscribeStar. It's honestly pretty good. I know a lot of people here got a bad first impression from the last update since most of the new content was unrecognizable from the old version. But this most recent release feels MUCH more like the OG game. The characters are in line with their original personalities, the Morgana scene plays out almost exactly like before, and there aren't any other drastic redesigns like with Emma in the first version.

This, and the fact that Arc is open to feedback and making efforts to implement said feedback, gives me a lot more confidence in the future that this will be more of a remaster instead of a "completely unrecognizable remake". Hopefully it will for other people too.

Yes, the game is being remade. Arc said this was due to issues in the code that caused an overwhelming amount of bugs to show up with each update. But I don’t think it makes sense to conclude that this remake is going to be completely unrecognizable from the old version just based off of the content from the demo. While the game does take place on an island now, and Jessica and Emma’s roles have been tweaked, we know nothing about any of the other characters, locations, or story beats yet.

If the content update drops and it turns out that the other characters and locations are also changed, then yeah I think people would have a right to be upset. But I can’t really imagine that being the case because one, Arc has been open to feedback and said everything from the previous version would be in the new one. And two, if you’re remaking a free game that’s only funded by donations, I can’t imagine what the benefit would be to not use the existing characters/text/story/assets you spent years making and that you already know people liked.

I’m optimistic and expecting there won’t be too much else that we’ll have to get used to. But we’ll see what ends up happening when the content update drops.

The "Bring back Emma's Previous Proportions" option is also winning against its counter part. Most people's opinions seem to align.

Well, I have good news for you. He did a poll on if some of the things changed should be kept or reverted, and the "Bring back Jessica's Previous Proportions" option has a huge lead.

For those still confused, Arc recently released the tutorial section for the new version of the game for members on SubscribeStar. It has 20-40ish minutes of gameplay and is intended to get player feedback and make sure the game's new systems are running smoothly before he adds all of the other new content on top of them. The BIG content update and a public release will happen in a few weeks, with future builds releasing monthly after that.

This new version has very significant changes from the old game though, with character redesigns, changes in the setting, etc. A lot of people said it was too different from what they liked about the old game, but Arc's been very open to feedback and said that "Everything you know and love from the old version will be in the new version", so it will probably just take a little getting used to.
