Hi, you will need to use this link to approve the late submission basically: /jam/412552/add-game/4279038/554526?token=Vryvvfw4BbAWWg9z3vl8y2Uro
Let me know if it has any issues!
Hi, because your demo submission wouldn’t actually have any of that yandere content in it, it wouldn’t qualify for the game jam (the most essential rule/theme is to have ‘yandere’ showcased in your entry) ^^;
You are free to submit a prototype of a day where that is explored though, if you REALLY want to submit to this jam this year, but there’s always next year + other yandere-related jams run throughout the year (stained red/dark romance jam etc.)
Hope this was helpful <:D
I don’t think I have any rules about this so far, so long as it’s a new game I don’t see an issue with multiple entries technically. However, in the spirit of this jam being to give some eyes to new devs/projects, I’d like it if all submissions got an equal chance to be viewed and were made by different devs/people, so try to keep it to 2 entries maximum please. ^^
Hiya, this is a great question, and something which I will have to clarify in the FAQ/beginner’s guide next year forward.
I have had these hard blanket rules for a few years for several reasons which I won’t go into in too much depth; but partly it was to cut down on screening entries (this is a 1 person effort), to avoid certain types of entries which glorify and/or sexualise certain subject matter which I have a personal hard no-thank-you attitude about (such as incest), and avoid having both myself and any entries be subject to the recent harsh guidelines toward nsfw content as a result of recent payment processor’s pressure on platforms hosting this type of content due to legislation in different countries (my own included.)
I am aware that the hard-no’s are a little hypocritical, given that other serious and horrendous subject matter which is risky is A-OKAY to have in entries (murder and all of that other stuff…) But for now, I will say that this entry wouldn’t meet the rules despite the nuance on the subject matter as it is a hard rule. You could revise the idea a little, or submit it to another yandere/dark romance-esque jam (I think Stained Red will be running again and they have different rules from this jam.)
Hope this helped give some insight! <:)
I would say that this idea depends on how the reincarnated character behaves generally, for example a basic measure/rule in these types of stories is are they more sapient (iirc this is the word?) than not?
Otherwise, if you’re still unsure, you should probably wait until most of the project is done so you can have someone beta-read it with the jam’s rules in mind ^^;
Please direct any common questions (not covered by the FAQ) regarding the jam or your entry to this post! ^^ If you have a more complicated query regarding specifics of your entry, or want to find team members, please create your own community post (or feel free to join the discord here.)
Happy jamming!

This is a question which seems to come up time and time again, and I feel as though I have been quite clear about this. Please make sure you read these posts carefully to avoid any confusion with your submission/project.

This is a post with resources and tips for participants who are creating their own entry (solo or otherwise.)
Tools [Ren’Py-specific]:
If you are using other engines (such as Godot or RPGMaker) there are likely lots of pre-existing plugins or projects that showcase similar features (e.g. subtitles, captions, etc.) I am most familiar with Ren’Py, so if you need help for another engine it would be worth joining a discord or forum for them!
[Alt: A table with two columns, on the left it is titled ‘content warning examples’ with a list of examples (Gore, blood, vomit, insects, alcohol use, drug use.) On the right is a similar list, titled ‘trigger warning examples’ with a list of examples (sexual assault, verbal/physical violence, child abuse, self harm, non-consensual use of drugs or alcohol). /EndAlt]Hi, please make sure to read the jam front page closely in the future so you are clear on if the jam contains a prize or not, yandere jam has never been a ranked/judged game jam, and is just a jam to promote new projects by beginners with the theme of ‘yandere’: “This is not a ranked or judged jam and there are no prizes to be won. The main goal is to have fun and create something in 1 month (or so) with the theme of ‘yandere’ in mind.” (from the front page of the jam, third bullet point.)
Late submissions are accepted but only up to a week after the jam has ended. The jam runs yearly so if you feel as though you need more time you can also submit it next year :] Dark Amare jam is an upcoming jam in May I believe and I am helping run that as well, so you could submit it to that jam as well (if it fits the theme of the jam) if you don’t want to wait a whole year but need more time than a week.
Hi, thank you for submitting to yanjam! I’m just commenting on a few submission which seem to lack content or trigger warnings as putting these kinds of warnings is a part of the submission criteria for this jam. Ideally at the very least entries should have these warnings on the game page itself instead of only within the game; and this entry seems to have neither. I’ll be removing any submissions which do not align with this rule near the end of the jam, so this is just a heads up and a notice to please edit your game page at the very least. Thank you :)
Hi, thank you for submitting to the game jam. I’m just going to remind you to put trigger/content warnings both in your game and on the game page in order to be eligible to submit to this jam as that is a part of the jam rules themselves (and I haven’t seen any warning inside or on the page itself); I’ll check up on this entry on the day of closing and if there are no warnings at the very least on the game page itself I will have to remove the submission. Thank you :)
These bonus challenges are not necessary to submit your entry. I am including a few of them to encourage developers who partake in this game jam to create more diverse projects instead of continually portraying common-place representations (i.e. games full of white/cis/able-bodied/hetero people etc.)
Challenges:
Additional accessibility features: additional font choice, colour-blind fiendly toggles (E.g. GUI, font colour options etc.), additional sound sliders for differentiating different types of sound, captions for images for blind or visually impaired players, etc.
Character customisation: pronoun selection, sprite customisation, name change (i.e. ability to change player character’s default name), gender identity customisation etc.
Think about including characters from all walks of life: black, disabled, trans, queer etc. (You don’t have to add all, just consider how these identities might play into your story.)

I appreciate every entry we get, even though I don’t usually have time to play all of them to 100% completion due to just life happening, nor do I usually comment since Hatoge is the main host and I just do the other tasks like server maintenance/community stuff. But I wanted to leave my own comment on this one.
I can tell a lot of work went into this game as a whole, and it is always great to see respectful exploration of different trans experiences. I also love to see trans games being made by trans people.
Growing up transgender in general is very messy, especially if you are not raised in an environment that is aware of trans people being an actual thing, add to that any kind of religious influence and it can take a lot of time to figure out who you actually are, and if it’s really okay to take up space as someone who happens to be trans. I know some of the depictions in this game might not be comfortable for some people, but the different stories and sides of being trans are pretty realistic to some actual experiences by real-life trans people. I think it’s important to remember (for other players, and people in general) that no singular trans person is a monolith for an entire community, and nor should they be, and that’s okay because the human experience is a diverse spectrum.
I hope to see more cool games made by trans people, if only for the reason that a young trans person sees it and realises that it’s okay to be themselves and that people like them do actually exist and can lead a long, happy and fulfilling life. I think if more games with trans characters/rep existed it wouldn’t have taken me so long to get on with my own life too (lol.)
Once again, thank you for the beautiful entry and I hope to see more wonderful games from everyone on the team :]
It’s alright! I’ve definitely had moments like this with my jam projects too, you think you’ve tested everything and a bunch of bugs come up once you compile… OTL
Excited to see what you do next! :DD I love ‘love company’ because its so visually unique, kind of reminds me of oil painting on glass or something, really fits the unnerving vibe of the setting.
I know you were worried about this being appropriate for the yandere jam, but as stated on the page regarding yanderes: “An entry is to have at least one character who encapsulates the essentials of yandere (yangires included) aesthetic― which is being possessive, obsessive, unstable, insatiable, stop at nothing to get what they want etc.” so I think it suited the jam(s) very well! Yandere games are not just about being the beloved of a yandere though that is common, I liked how your game portrayed the flip side of that (being the rival/bystander) because it’s a fun way to play with the trope/genre!
I think there’s enough new content as well (even though there are some bugs) that it def qualifies for this year too! Especially because of the point and click stuff and clicking on the other characters standing around (so from a coding-point of view there’s still def enough new things)
There are a few bugs which I’ll put below:

5 There’s a line when you accept the coffee after denying with a typo: “Thank you.!”
I didn’t notice or get any other bugs, so hopefully this is all you need to fix if you wanna push a hotfix! Also, rolling-over any of these bugs didn’t impact the game (like it did not crash Ren’Py)
