I'm so glad you are enjoying it, makes us very happy to hear!
1. Ah sorry that's all the available locations in the prototype. The full game has way more content coming and the locations are a bit more in depth.
2. Hmm oh no sorry we don't have any alternative keys set up for scanning ☹️
3. The higher quality fossils get swapped out automatically. Sorry it's not very well explained in the prototype. We didn't want people to have to manually replace them each time. In the full game we are aiming to add the option to sell/trade your lower quality bones once they have been upgraded so at least you will have a use for the old ones.
That's so cool!! Ahh I'm so glad you like it.
Thanks for offering, how nice of you. We will be considering localisation a little later down the road but we agree with you re: AI - No AI translations for Fossil Quest no ways. We are hoping we will be able to have the funding to hire people to do this work but we just have to see how things go first :-) We are a small team and for now we are just focusing on making the game as good as possible and getting a demo together.
P.S Sorry we stole your idea!! 😝
This made me really happy because this is something we are literally busy working on!! The town in the full game is much bigger and has more shops to visit and more people to meet, and many of them have storylines that impact the town and your museum in some way. You can increase your relationship with people too which has effect on things. We've have kept it all optional though for people who don't enjoy chit chatting too much.
Noted on the zoom feature - we will see if we can add this where ever possible :-)
Hi ☺️ sorry the prototype doesn't have tutorials! For the full release we will definitely have a proper intro and some tutorialisation. Here are the controls:
- W,A,S,D to move around
- Mouse click to interact with things and advance dialog
- Mouse click (or spacebar) to dig
The other controls (like for scanning or for mini-games) will be shown to you while in game but if you get stuck again you are welcome to ask here or find us on discord. I hope you enjoy it!
Hi. It will probably be somewhere between $8 and $12 depending on how much content we get in before release and also where you are in the world as we will have regional pricing on Steam 😊
I am not sure yet whether we will have it up on itch. We have some issues getting money from itch through PayPal so we'll have to see closer to the time.
Hello! Ahhhh I'm sad we can't make a Mac version of the prototype ☹️ we are a tiny tiny team (basically just my husband and me) and honestly just don't own a Mac or have the funds to buy one so we couldn't test it on one.
For the full version of the game we are going to investigate making a Mac build and see if we can find a way to do it. So, I can't make any promises right now but we will try! (Ps. Anyone reading this wanna send us a Mac so we can make this happen?! Hahaha)
I am happy that you love Fossil Quest so much though ❤️ thanks for playing!
Hi there. Ahhh I'm so sorry about that, the prototype wasn't made to support multiple monitor resolutions ☹️ the full game will have this functionality and extra resolution settings but for the prototype we just did not include stuff like that due to time constraints.
I will have a look in the next couple days and see if I can fix this to at least make it functional for ultrawide. I'll respond here to let you know once I've done it and if there's an updated build.
Once everyone has left a pop-up should come in saying how much money you earned and then you should be able to click continue and it rolls over to the next day and you can go dig again. If that isn't happening you may have a bug. Closing the game and opening it again might fix it? Either way, sorry about that! you are welcome to email us or find us on discord if you need any help and we can try solve the problem if you don't come right.
We have big plans for the town that sort of align with what you are saying. The town is going to be bigger than it is in this demo and with time, as your museum improves it brings more people to the town and the whole town improves. You can also help people in the town with things if you want to but those side stories are optional :-) Thank you for playing! I've made a note of your grid suggestion so we can chat about it.
Really glad you are enjoying it. Sorry about the bugs you've found but thanks so much for reporting them. I appreciate it!
Ah so sorry we don't have alternative controls or remapping in this demo version :-( we are planning on having some more options for this in the full game and are busy building the game with controller support too.
Hi!! Thanks for playing, so glad you're enjoying it! Yeah I agree it does get a bit repetitive in the current demo, we are working hard at making more interesting and varied digging and excavation mechanics so it's not so repetitive in the full game! ah that's sweet of you but we're just happy to have you play and send feedback - that's the best type of donation ❤️
Hi there, oh no sorry about the bugs with the visitors :-( That sounds very annoying but thank you for letting us know. Also sorry we don't have much in the way of tutorials. Adding tutorialisation can take up a lot of time and we decided to put that time towards new features for this prototype but I know it's not a great solution to just expect people to figure it all out on their own.
For our next demo release (which will also be on Steam) and definitely for the full game, we will have a proper introduction and tutorials. We will also try to include other options for controls and we are adding controller support if that suits you better.
I'm so happy you enjoyed it despite the issues you had!! If we can turn you into a gamer then that makes me very happy XD Thanks so much for the support.
AH yes makes to happy to hear that you enjoy organising your lucky finds into themes!! We are expanding on this idea a bit in the full game ;-)
We totally agree with you about dig sites. It's gets boring and repetitive quite quickly so we have plans to make it more varied. We also agree 100% about the characters movement. It's very clunky at the moment when digging :-( We actually spent today working on the characters movement mechanics for the full game with the goal of making it faster and less stop/starty. Thanks for playing <3
Hello! Thanks for such a lovely message, it's so motivating to hear you enjoyed it. I am sorry about some dig sites having very few bones :-( That is frustrating. It seems to be a bug that is happening to some people sometimes but we are struggling to recreate the issue on our end so it's been hard to fix so far.
