This needs a full release. This is one of the best games in the jam
Unfortunately I won't be working on the game after the jam anymore, though I'm glad you liked it :D
ok
love this game , the turn‑based combat is the core, but what really makes it shine are the fast‑reaction elements that keep every encounter tense and exciting. You’re constantly switching between planning your next move and reacting on the fly, which gives the gameplay a great rhythm. I had an absolute blast playing it. woow realy good job.
Happy to hear that! Thanks a lot for the kind words :D
Wow! loved the art!
The gameplay is so fun, I don't usually play turn-based games, so that says a lot.
Keep it up!
I'm glad to hear you liked it! Thanks for the kind words :D
Absolutely loved this one. The graphics are simple but really charming, and the mechanics are a lot of fun. I also really liked the story and how polished everything felt. Honestly super impressive for a one week jam, probably the best jam game I've played in a while. Congrats!
That's really nice to hear! Thanks a lot for the kind words :D
This should have way more votes! Loved the silly animations and the poses the characters take XD Battle mechanic was pretty fun too. I only thought the crewmate enemies were a bit tanky, and for the qte you kinda have to wait until the animation is over before it registers your input.
Very nicely done though! ☆
I'm glad you liked it! I initially thought it'd be a bit wonky to be able to attack while the animation is still going, though I never really tested that! Come to think of it, not being able to attack while the sword (or boot) is still spinning, did bother me a few times while playtesting. I'll keep it in mind!
Thanks a lot for the feedback and the kind words :D
I mean, on the positive note, it did force me to not rush things and aim carefully XD And you're welcome!
I feel like i found a hidden gem since this entry has 9 rates. Really loved the combat mechanics, especially the gun wheel spinning back and forth. Dealing with the crewmates at the beginning felt a bit slow because of i thought they would have less health + see them attacking with the exact same pattern a lot. But endgame fight was good. The artstyle has a unique charm of its own, storyboards at the beginning are cool. Solid entry!
Happy to hear you liked the combat, since that was really the main focus of the game! I totally agree the first fight is a bit tedious, I wasn't really sure how to cut that down, but multiple attack patterns is a good idea!
Thanks a lot for the kind words, and for the feedback, I'll keep it in mind :D
Really nice job on the combat system, I liked that I was able to parry the projectile in the 3rd fight. I think the pacing is a bit slow, idk if it’s anything in particular, but maybe a combination of waiting for animations and transitions + decently large health pools on the enemies. Overall, I think it’s a great entry
I fully agree with you the battles take too long! I was thinking of a way to fix it, but eventually couldn't think of anything before the deadline unfortunately. I suppose it's mostly the quick time events being just a little not quick enough if you get what I mean lol.
I'm glad you liked it though! Thanks for the kind words and the feedback! I'll keep it in mind :D
it was a fun little game! The gun mechanic was my favorite
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it :D
quick time events were fun but then got a little repetitive. I wish I would have known I only had 1 bomb, I used it on my second attack on the first enemy just to see what it did :D
The Microsoft Paint style-graphics were great and worked well with the gameplay, and when the enemy fell on it's face I literally laughed out loud. Great job!
Glad you liked the qte's! I initially intended to add a bit more of them, but ran short on time in the end, I agree that they get a little repetitive after a while. As for the bomb, I had assumed items were always oneshots, so I never really thought of that, thanks for pointing that out!
I'm also happy you like the art! Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep it in mind :D
The screen froze for a few seconds before the ending screen on web. Aside from that, the art and animation are really nice! I really like the combat too, though it feels like it goes on a bit too long. Anyway, great work!
I never noticed the game freezing before the end screen, so thanks for pointing that out! I agree that the combat is a tad too long, I initially wanted to add another stage to the second fight, so it felt less monotone, but in the end I ran out of time unfortunately.
edit: ah, I remember now, I do recall the game having frozen when the ancient god explodes into particles, and itch doesn't always like that. It's weird though, sometimes it freezes, sometimes it doesn't. I tested the web build just now, it did not freeze weirdly enough.
I'm glad you liked it though, thanks for the feedback, I'll keep it in mind :D
Super cool art style! The audio and visuals are very good, I really liked the battle animations! It's also a very cool take on the turn-based genre, I get some deltarune vibes from it! The intro cutscene does feel a little cramped though, the text is very large, and it's hard to keep an eye on both the cutscene art and the dialogue. I enjoyed it, good work!
Glad you enjoyed it! Deltarune was a big inspiration for the game, so I'm happy to hear that! I agree that the intro cutscene can feel a little crude, especially in the web build. I'm still not sure why, but in the web build all the dialogue just runs slower and the dialogue sound hurts my ears a bit sometimes to be frank XD
That being said, the downloaded version runs a lot smoother, and I feel like, even though it runs faster, it still feels less cramped because the dialogue is more consistent and the sound is normal. Not saying you should get the download, just wanted to point that out, but it's strange, in every game involving dialogue I've uploaded to itch, the dialogue sounds like absolute dogwater lol.
I suppose it's because the game is playing the same audio in rapid succession, that being 30 times a second, and itch does not like that.
Anyways, thank for playing, and for the feedback :D
Love the gameplay, it's fun. Gun is OP lol
Glad you liked it! Gun was meant to resemble something like the Super Mario RPG 100 jump challenge, and I feel like it being op is a good thing XD
It was really fun, I really don't have much to say, just liked every point of it (just the crash when I dying, but seem to be a knowed bug)
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D
I really enjoyed your art and style of gameplay. I suck at qte's and kept dying to the first enemy crewmate. I wish I was better at it so I could see more of it but really awesome job! My friends and I made a game as well if you want to check it out https://disuppyr.itch.io/lords-of-the-exclave
I just realised I left the enemy damage to one-tap you for quick testing argh. Normally it's supposed to be just one damage, but now it's set to one tap you I'm really sorry D:
I suspect it wasn't a problem with your skill but rather with the game balancing.
I am glad you like the art and gameplay though, and I'll make sure to check your game out too! Also quick question, did you use the web build or the download, because the web build tends to be a bit more laggy, which can also mess up your timings.
I used the web build I was trying a few games on my lunch break, and no worries Id love to try a version after the jam if you decided to fix it!
Ah, nice to know! By the way there's also a 48 hour grace period for bug patches n stuff so I'll just upload the fixed version now. Feel free to try it out! I would recommend getting the download though, as it's way less laggy, though you don't have to of course.
