I like your game. The puzzles were interesting. Sometimes I got awkwardly knocked back right after entering Room 3. But it's excellent work.

This is a great game! I'm surprised that you don't have more votes.  The art is really cool and stylized. I thought the character movement was really smooth as well.
The music was spooky and did a great job of not being too repetitive.
Well done!

I didnt really get most of the puzzles and mostly brute force the whole thing. It was not clear to me why certain doors were good and why certain doors were bad. Only after coming to vote do I see that I should not trust anything with 1 (but even this didnt really feel enforced)

great variety of puzzles

got stuck with the book tho, all the doors are wrong?^^

Developer

Thanks for the comment and for playing. There is always a way out of a room, just maybe not always that clear. There are two books you find - the first one give a few hints as to what lies beyond with an untrustworthy 1 in there. The second I realize now is poorly written, so maybe that's the one you mean?

Interesting twist on the theme! I liked the overall vibe and visuals. the puzzles did kind of feel either very obvious or very obscure. I couldn't solve the puzzle in the first fake chest room, the "winner winner chicken dinner" room, or the lone mountain room, so I just tried a couple till i got them.

Also 8/ 2(2+2) is one, but was the solution door, and all of the doors in the math room solved to one. Not sure if thats a bug.

Developer

The idea is to not 'trust' 1 but trust and truth are not the same so there is a 1 that is real and meant to be a twist (it was the winner winner room). That one I admit is probably a little too hard.

And that math actually is not 1, just seems like it is (it reduces to 8 / 2 * 4).

Thanks for the play through

Puzzle games are tricky with themes and hard when you don't have playtesters to make sure others can figure things out and not just creator bias. Overall, I think the puzzles were fine; some still don't quite explain the "why," but they made it to the end. Good job dev

Thanks for playing, a bit of dialogue when choosing the right door and why probably would have been a nice touch to help with some of the other puzzles along the way...

Thanks for the feedback and trying it out

Amazing job, it's crazy that you made this on your own! Congrats! Some hints are clearer than others, but I guess that's the fun of it too.

Very cool puzzels. the one with the status really took a while to click. but when it did it was a great reward.

Nicely done!

Developer

Thanks, good to hear you liked that one.  My first time building puzzles and these didn't get well tested so I was worried they were all over the place

Great game!I liked the art and music. The puzzle design was fun and varied, and I enjoyed all of them! Except the math one. I hate "/" hahaha. It took me a while because all of them have the same result.

Developer

One of them didn't ;)

The answer to the correct door there actually isn't 1 it just looks like it is

At first, I have to admit that I got a little lost and probably used up about 7 attempts just by wandering around and trying things. I was really happy when I came across the situation with the statues, where one tells the truth, another one lies, and so on. I wanted to use that kind of puzzle in my own game too, so it honestly made me smile to see someone else pull it off so well.

Developer

Rats, looks like i didn't make it clear enough but in general the number 1 ought to be avoided/untrusted

Thanks for playing though, good to hear you like that puzzle though

I was on board until the treasure room - that's a lot of doors to come back through with no hint (unless I missed one!) If more hints, decoys and puzzles were implemented I could see this being a very fun experience!

Developer

Thanks, and yeah that room could have been done better. With more time better hints and more interesting rooms could have been made

Pretty decent set of puzzles, although I did brute-forced some of them, still gives that "Ooh, I got that one!" feeling

Developer(+1)

Thanks, it could have used better play testing since it was just me and I knew all the secrets so it was very hard to judge effectiveness
