A great game! I definitely played it for a bit longer than i normally test these games.  It's a lot of fun. I do wish that there was some kind of health bar or way to see your health. I loved the sentence building mechanic.

Well done!

This is a great game!
As others have said, there's a lot of reading.  Not that i have any room to gripe about that.
I also had a hard time looking at their paperwork, and thought that some of the ui was confusing. Like maybe i was only supposed to be able to access their paperwork after asking all three questions? Also, it would have been cool if there was a way to skip asking additional questions after they answered one question incorrectly.
Anyway, this game kicks ass and you should be super proud of yourselves! I try to give everyone something they could improve on, but your game was especially hard for me to find ways to critique.  These small bugs don't really effect game play, and it's still a lot of fun with them.
Super well done!

I love how funny it is! The floating head not letting you play the game is a great gag.
I had a hard time getting the sheets on the boxes. I would get caught under them, and then I basically had to start over. It was frustrating, but I also get the feeling that you were going for a rage game kinda vibe.
Well done, great art, awesome idea!

You did a great job!
The game has some polish to it. I like the way the title screen, shop, and upgrades look. Mechanically the game works fine.
I did feel like it was missing a bit of pizzaz. It's a bit boring at the start. You could fix this by adding some kind of larger 1 at the end, or needing fewer bullets to kill them, or even just having fewer 1's in the first level.
It's just that i found that I could group them all together by running around in circles, and then it just took a bit to kill them all, and that wasn't super interesting.
The real interesting part of the game is the shop and buying things to kill 1's faster, so the sooner i can get to the meat of the game the better.
or not! I'm just one person, and maybe the pace is better for someone else!
Anyway, well done, pat on the back for finishing a game. I know it's not easy, especially working by yourself.

The art work is so cute! I love how the tutorial level reveals more and more, instead of having multiple levels. I feel like it sets up the hijinks well.  The music is super chill.
The game controls feels a little... off? kinda slidey. Maybe I just need to git gud, but i feel like it wasn't stopping as fast as it should when i stopped pressing a button.

I loved the sheep turning into a wolf! It's fun!
I kind of wish there were more levels. If you were going to expand on this, you could add something like a map change after eating so many berries or surviving for so long.  That way there's a bit more variety in the game.
The art is fantastic, and i loved the little crab legs animation.  You guys should be super proud of yourselves for making this.

I had a lot of fun! For some reason, the sitting on the chair was a bit buggy.  Like i had to click, and then move and then try clicking again for it to work.
But the actual game was a lot of fun! I answered some questions and then got detained. I like the way the breathing tutorial is done.

It worked! I downloaded the newest version and I could get past the yellow door and into the other area! And I can now use f to interact with things. Thanks!

I was very confused. Like there's a little orange square that's under the classmate (it also took me a minute to get that the classmates are shapes? if you were going to iterate on this, you might have them have some kind of conversation to indicate that the shapes are people) that you're talking to, and I thought that was the color they were talking about.
Also, is it like 2 truths and a lie, and one of them is lying? or is there a way to tell how many lies are being told?
and also, what is the yellow bar and scaffolding at the bottom for?
Anyway, great work. I understand that making a game is hard.

The game is nice, it seems really well crafted and the environment is spooky. I could pick up the flashlight and move around, but couldn't figure out how to interact with the yellow door. You mentioned on the game's page that windows users might need to manually hid the hotbar, but I also couldn't figure out how to do that?
Anyway, great work!

I really enjoyed playing this game! I thought that the assets were really well made.  Music was catchy without being repetitive or intrusive.  It's got polish, it's got style, its funny as heck.
Well done! I hope you're super proud of yourself, because you should be!

Thank you! I just checked and you are correct. Sorry about that. I should have made sure the problem wasn't on my end first.

Great work on coding a character who can jump! It looks like you've worked really hard on this. I love your art and character design. The code that's spawning the spikes works great!

Functionality wise, it doesn't seem like the score or lives are working correctly.

That said, I feel like it's a great game, and I'm really happy that you submitted it to the competition. I know that it can be nerve-wracking to do things like this, and you should be proud of yourself for putting your game out there. Well done!

I really appreciate your submission.  It seems like you intended to have a search and find kind of game? It doesn't seem to be working on my computer. If you wanted to submit your code or a link to your game, I'd be happy to review that. As is, I'm afraid there's not much here for me to rate.

This art looks awesome! I wish there was more code or someway to interact with the art. I'd love to know the story behind the characters you've obviously put a lot of time and effort into creating.

I know it takes a lot of bravery to put your art out there, and I'm really happy to have your submission! Maybe next time you can work on adding some code too! I'd be really excited to see you submit again in the next competition.

I can tell that a lot of effort was put into this game. I love the original art and the parallax effect as you move the mouse around the screen.

There are some functionality issues, such as that it's difficult to close the shop once it's open. It would also be cool have some kind of UI element for if the plant needs shade or the heat coil.

You could have added some sound effects. Maybe something when you interacted with the plant, or even just some background music.

That said, this is an awesome project, and you should be really proud of it. I know it takes a lot of bravery to submit your work to a competition. Thanks for a fantastic submission!

The code seems to function as intended. Is there something I'm missing here? There aren't any instructions, so maybe I'm just not playing the game correctly.

There wasn't any music or sound effects. There default sprites and backgrounds were used. The game feels kind of like it was made in a rush.

Next month, you could take your time. Flesh out what you want your game to be like and how you want it to function before you start coding. Think of a good win or lose condition. These kinds of things can make a game fun to play!

That said, I understand that submitting a game to a competition takes a lot of courage. Thank you so much for making your submission, and I truly hope to see more from you in up coming competitions.

This game showcases new and interesting movement mechanics. The art and animation are original and well made. The music changes with each level.  It looks like a lot of time and energy has gone into making this game. Absolutely well done!

Yes, you can join!

You're welcome to

The game must be made in the scratch.mit.edu game engine or the https://penguinmod.com game engine. Within the bounds of these game engines, you can make any game you'd like.

Make sure your remember to submit your project! Happy coding!

Yes! Using the penguin mod is fine.

Here's the steps for submitting a scratch game in itch.

1. Make sure you have an itch account. The same account can have multiple submissions. Just make sure that different students have worked on each submission.

2. Have the students share their projects and send links of those projects to you.

3. Go to this website. https://packager.turbowarp.org It will allow you to change the scratch game into an HTML game. This way you'll be able to upload it into Itch.

4. Then you can click submit your project, and follow the website from there.  This link has some more detailed instructions if you want them.

Happy coding

Hello! You can use this website to make your scratch game into an HTML game. You'll be able to submit it from there.

Sorry for the late response, and let me know if you have any trouble uploading it!

I did get kind of stuck on things while walking around. I also feel like there should be a way to talk to the npcs.
But the cat design was cute!

I liked the puzzles. They were creative without taking too long to figure out. I also thought that the title screen was really well done.

I'm at work watching the timer lmao.

I'm glad I'm not teaching when the results come out so I can watch.

Don't stress too much on account of me!  2 weeks is fine.

Honestly I have no idea what to do? I keep clicking around but nothing seems to happen. Maybe you could add some instructions to your jam's page?

This game is honestly sooo much fun! I will say that when I died, there was no respawn or anyway to end the game besides reloading the page. But when I actually played well, it was fantastic. With more time, you might expand the game to include different maps or different kinds of balls.

oh, and I had no idea what to do with the gun thing? maybe some kind of tutorial or explanation for that could be built into the game.

It's a cool idea, but the game feels a little slow, honestly. Maybe a shorter timer would make it feel more intense?

Great work! I like the story, and the packages. I understand that the stuttering is a known issue. Honestly I don't mind the package sorting part of the game. I didn't get through very much of fighting the enemies, but they seemed well designed and fun to hit.

This game looks beautiful! I love the designs for the characters and the enemies. I love the little pitter patter feet animation.  The speed the character moves at feels really good.

I do wish there was a way to see what health the enemies were at. I shot one of them a couple of times, but didn't seem to get close to killing it.

This game is so cute! The halftone shading looks really nice.  I'm not sure I understand the ... level select? at the beginning.  Still, it's definitely impressive that you made this game in so little time.

Thanks for playing! Can I ask which browser you're playing it on?

I love the idea for this game. I do feel like sprites aren't very well defined, art wise. Like, I'm not getting enough information when I do have my light shining on different things in order to be able to clearly tell what they are. Also, while the text floating away is a cool effect, I'd love to have some time to actually read the text so I can experience the story.

The sound and level design feel great. The main character is adorable. And the way that light is depicted is absolutely beautiful.

If I'm trying to escape the planets, then why am I jumping to another planet?  Plot holes aside, I think the game would be more fun if there was something to avoid, or, at the very least, more realistic physics.

Amazing! I love the art and the light mechanic. The game feels polished  and well designed.
