The Hotline Miami-ish colors and awesome adaptive music give this a ton of energy. Lets goo
The game was a lot of fun, with playful music and art. The upgrades made it very likeable, although I missed being able to tell when I would receive the next upgrade. Also, I feel like "Puppy Eyes" was the best upgrade, not only because it made the taxi way easier to handle with lower speed, but also because it felt like the upgrade with most immediate payoff, which is something that I missed with the others (with some exceptions, like the one that gave you $10 every 3 seconds, that one was very noticeable too).
The steering mechanics are quite challenging to get used to but wow is this game great. The visual style is amazing and is 100% something i could see myself playing more of.
Really impressive game. I loved the visuals and how you programmed in the adaptive music which was an absolute banger. Also it's a really addictive gameplay loop, if I didn't lose then I might have kept playing for ages more. Once you get in the groove it gets very fun very fast. Also the upgrades were well designed with a high variety of them as any good roguelike should be. Nice art and concepts for the different upgrade names / designs. Just an awesome aesthetic all around, props to the artist, it gave me huge hotline miami vibes.
When I first played, I was a little stuck on what to do, like which icon represents the client and which icon represents the destination? Making it more clear would be nice. Also I dislike how I have to keep looking at the bottom left of the screen to see where to go; the mini map is great as it is but making the client and destination locations appear on the very edges of the screen would improve the flow of the game in my opinion. Lastly it wasn't very clear how I was getting the upgrades, because I seemed to get an upgrade every couple clients I delivered. If you added some sort of progression bar that showed how close I was to the next upgrade, it would be great.
But yeah really impressive game, well done. My high score was 27 passengers, 450.99 time spent and 3818.00 as my richest point.
I like this interpretation of the theme. I got stuck on walls a lot, but I think it's just my skill issue. Sometimes your upgrade options are three of the same, which is a little annoying. (The illusion of choice...) It took me a second to realize the yellow was sidewalk you can drive on, since it's so bright and stands out from the road. The game was most fun for me when I got a wall bounce upgrade, so I could get momentum without stopping dead. The minimap system is very clear and readable, and I like the art style. Good job!
This is a very well executed game, but a bit difficult (or maybe I’m just not good at it :( ) The concept is fun and fit perfectly the theme ! Congrats :D
I like the hotline miami aesthetics and crazy taxi game mechanics, the pick one of 3 upgrades is a nice touch.
