This is so cool! This game has such a fun aesthetic, and I’m really excited to see where you take the horror elements. Games-within-a-game like Inscryption are always so cool to see done well, and I feel like there’s a lot of potential here.
A few thoughts as I played through:
Great job! I’m excited to see where you take this one 😊
Thanks for playing!
2 additional notes:
- We are adding controller support in the next patch
- When you run out of ammo you actually lose your weapon, tho we never thought of a reload sfx, because if you pick up the same gun you hold from the ground, you actually reload it! Thanks for this feedback!
The browser version runs great! The inner game is polished and satisfying enough that I want to keep playing run after run. Obviously more depth there would be great to have, but your updates to the outer game horror elements get me the most excited. I'm curious how you're going to use shutting off the game.
Might be too many notes to notice all at once in the beginning, I didn't see the note about shift letting you dash until way later in the game.
Also the open doors didn't seem obvious to me at first, I kinda kept walking around until I got sent to the next room. It could be nice to highlight where to go with an arrow. Once you see it the first time, you recognize the doors after that.
Very fun game! I got up to level 3 where I got snipped down pretty quick. The gameplay is reminiscent of Binding of Isaac, where you move from room to room in search for the exit, but instead of perma boosts, you pick up weapons with limited amo from your fallen foes. The mechanics have been polished well, and it's really fun shifting around and outmaneuvering the enemies. There is also a very unique screen-in-screen look, where you play looking at a monitor. The cutscenes between levels are pretty amazing as well!
As feedback, there were a few minor things that were not immediately obvious to me:
Once I figured these out, the game got much better on my second run. Cheers!
Hi there, thanks so much for playing our game!
As for the first two points, they are completely intentional and meant to teach the player to look around for clues in the environment. That said, we’re pushing an update this week to make these elements much clearer and more readable, as well as adding a hint at the start of the game.
The third point is actually tied to a specific horror mechanic that will be coming to the game later. You can probably guess why you might want to turn off the monitor... kekw
As for the last one, yeah, that’s definitely something we’re fixing by adding more environmental props to make the exit more recognizable.
Also, later this week, alongside the update, we’ll be adding a couple of new features, including a dash through objects, new patches, a crit mechanic, and a new weapon!
Thanks again for the feedback and for playing! ❤️
