Description
This is a piece of music for a steampunk action adventure game. The game is about a character that must prevent time's speed from increasing. It involves going through levels of a steam-powered wheel of time.

Because the theme was steampunk, I went with a breakbeat rhythm where I tried to mimic the vibe of machinery in action. The track starts nostalgic with a dark brass sound and a noise rhythm that sounds like a steam engine running. This sound later evolves into a riser, used in two stages where the energy ramps up. There's also another noise layer that sounds a bit like steam escaping from valves. More info is on the project's page.

I went for precision level 4 for this entry.

This absolutely rocks and I love it, although it is a bit difficult imagining this as a end credits theme. It definitely fits in a steampunk AA game, but it feels more akin to a reveal in the story or a transitional song. The piece is very cohesive and flows well, it's very well done in that regard. The sound design and overall soundscape of this just feels so good too, you did a really good job making this feel immersive to your world.

I like the atmosphere and the beginning, it sounds like a train. ,The rythm is good as well as the melody. It's nice that you have this repetitive motif that is kind of snappy and behind with the synth it adds consistence.

I thought the sound design elements to create the steampunk feel was very well done! The panning with those sounds was fun to listen to.

Hey, I've just listened to your track!

I loved the groove, the instrumentation, and the melody. I could easily imagine this playing over an end credits sequence. I also really enjoyed the work on the sound effects and their panning.

There isn't much to criticize here. The only point I would mention is that I didn't really get a strong steampunk feeling from the piece (but I think it's only me...)

Good luck with the rest of the voting period!

What a groove! Really enjoyed this one, especially with the incredible synthwave instrumentation and rhythm! I personally don't enjoy ostinatos that much, but this one was by far one of the best exceptions! Thank you Ikon for making such a bop!

Did NOT expect steam-locomotive sound -> RnB beat -> synthwave lounge music.

I can totally see this as a track for a pixel art, slightly retro-console-style game. Great job!

Thanks!!

You have nailed it with all the sound design. It creates the perfect vibe for a steampunk game and I can really visualise the credits rolling with it in the background. I really like the central ostinato as well.
