A fun, frantic Vampire Survivors-bullet style game!

This was a fast-paced action game that clearly took inspiration from its genre, keeping the gameplay exciting and chaotic. The upgrades were addictive, and while the countdown timer could be a bit of a pain, it also added a nice layer of challenge.

The visuals had their own distinct style—simple, yes, but effective—and combined well with the VFX, music and SFX to create a unique vibe.

The theme was present—not super deep, but there—check!

More levels, enemies, power-ups, and a bit more polish with extra VFX and SFX would make for a great future update.

But as it stands, this is a solid jam entry! 💥🧛‍♂️🎮 Keep up the great work!

nice survivor like game

This is a fun take on vampire survivors. I was not able to make it to the end before running out of time after two attempts but still a good game in my book. There was a point on third level where I was able to travel through the light blue grid. It was on the right side of the level heading downwards. I also like how you introduce the player to the game with two tutorial rounds it works very well. Well Done.

While this horde survival gameplay is fun, I must say the design concept wasn't expressed well for this type of game, or rather counterintuitive.

It offers more fun the longer you play because of upgrades and enemy growth. But the 10 minute countdown is the fun blocker. It gave us pressure to farm keys faster knowing it is randomly dropped by enemies that spawn periodically. With that, the procedure is kinda tied to randomness. And the fun part will end prematurely.

Nevertheless, what matters is we managed to submit a functioning game for this jam and the new knowledge we learn throughout the process. Well done!

Developer

Well the bug takes the fun away. The idea is you are stuck in a loop, after the timer runs out you would start from level 1 but keep the upgrades, the idea is with the new upgrades you are faster so you can do more in 10 mins.
Thanks for your feedback and playing the game

What an amazing and addictive game! The gameplay experience was really enjoyable. It's a shame about that time-related bug, but I completely understand that these things happen, especially with such a short development window.

I could easily spend hours playing, as the character progression makes the journey rewarding and keeps me wanting to grow stronger and take down even more enemies.

There are a few interesting points that you could consider for this game or even for future projects.

The enemy and player projectiles look very similar. At the start, this isn’t much of an issue since there aren’t many ranged enemies. However, as the levels progress, their numbers increase significantly, which can make dodging quite tricky. Maybe using a highly contrasting color, giving them a distinct silhouette, or even adding a more contrasting outline compared to the player's shots could help make these dangers easier to spot.

Regarding the map and overall atmosphere, I REALLY liked the aesthetic. It even reminded me of an old project of mine that had a similar concept (though unfortunately, I didn’t get far with it due to lack of experience at the time). A mini-map would be really useful for locating doors, perhaps even some objects naturally placed near them to guide players toward the exit without giving everything away too easily.

Another cool idea could be temporary power-ups within the map, like an item that, when activated, triggers a chain reaction, destroying enemies in a certain area, maybe a shockwave or even lasers? That would be really interesting to see.

Lastly, the game juice is already satisfying, but some extra touches, like particles when hitting enemies (for stronger visual damage feedback) or even persistent particles on the ground after an enemy’s death, could make the experience even more immersive.

Of course, these are just suggestions that I think could improve the game significantly. It’s already far from being bad, quite the opposite! As I said at the beginning, your game is fantastic, addictive, and if not for that bug, I’d probably have spent well over 30 minutes playing.

Congrats on the project, and best of luck with the jam!

Thank you very much for  your extended feedback. You make some good points, and some of them unfortunately had no time for

As for the projectile i agree fully, i actually had a shader that gave them different glows but the web build did not like that. so indeed they look to much the same now

As for the minimap,/powerups one of the powerups i had in mind was actually a pointer towards interesting areas so its easier to navigate but you will need to spend points in it.  Other powerups i wanted but could not make were like one shots to for example destroy all bullets/enemies, slowdown, shockwave that lessens in damage how further it gets. I will definitely use some of your ideas for a post jam update

Neat game! At the start, the text was a little hard to read but the gameplay was pretty fun once I actually got in the game. Wish there was more powerups, because I got the same 3 on the very first round. The sounds of hitting were very satisfying though, and I think the art is pretty visually cohesive. However, I'm yet to feel the essence of the "loop" theme.

Developer

THanks for playing and your feedback

Just in case, the very first round are you talking about the scripted part  where you get the glitch powerup ?  If so that is part of the story and the first step of you breaking the loop, before that moment  you was just dumbly executing each cycle(loop),  having 3 options bit just one choice was exactly that showing before that you have no choice and was stuck. The second round you  get 3 different ones but they will always be the same as for your first choice what kind of build you want.

If you get 3 the same in the 3th round then you found a bug because that should not be possible, at  most it should have been 3 levels of the same upgrade its possible because randomization is hard but with 26 upgrades less likely

Oh, ok. Maybe in the future make it more obvious that that is supposed to happen. Other than that, the game was really good!

The UI pixel art doesn’t quite match together, and the overall visual style feels a bit inconsistent. The game logic is simple but works fine, though I personally felt there was a bit too much dialogue for this kind of game. The theme connection feels a bit weak, since it’s just 'level-based', it never really gives that “loopy” experience. If you simply progress through the stages, there’s no strong sense of breaking a cycle. That said, it’s still well done, and with some art refinement and a more distinct connection to the theme, it could be even better!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, and i appreciate your feedback.  Ui was indeed the last on my list so its true the style differs a bit. The looping is part of the story(so dialog) and the fact that you restart from level every time you are to slow or die. But everybody has their own interpretation of the theme which is what makes a gamjam so fun so i appreciate other poeples point of view.

I love games like these, I have played lots of games that are similar to this. Definitely going to be a good game to pass time. I wanted to play it even more, but after the 10 mins, the game is no longer playable. From here, i think you can definitely improve this a lot. You can add more enemies, more powerups, and more cards. I can't really get my head around the loop concept though, but that's just me. Overall, fun game. Keep it up!

Developer

Thanks for playing, the loop concept is unfortunately the part that is broken. After you die, take the reboot card or run out of time you start at lvl1 again with the difference that you keep your powerups. So every time you should get further untill you break the loop and escape

Couldn't get very far because of the bug you mentioned, visual style was neat, and it's pretty cool you got a save system running. Sadly the gunshot sound seems to be misrouted and is unaffected by audio sliders.

Developer

thanks for playing and telling me about the bug I will make sure I fix it in the post jam version

thanks for the pointers and playing. and yeah the doors bring you to the next level and also increases the difficulty. I am not a good gamer but i usually lost before i reached the end because it became almost impossible to weave trough the bullets unleased

Good game, its like a Roguelike!

Developer

Thanks for playing, yeah it definitely fits within the rogue-lite categories as well

Great game. It’s a horde survival, right?

Developer

Thanks for playing, Its somewhat a horde survival  but i see it more as a bullet hell. In this version its more making it trough the levels to escape (the loop). But among bug fixes i planned to add a second  play mode where its all about surviving as long as possible. so its more of a mixup

Very nice.

thanks for playing

A good top down shooter with some Vampire survivors sprinkled on it! And I love, when someone puts an effort to give some plot to their jam games! Over all- I enjoyed it, but did not finish it (at least not yet). There is a game breaking bug. When I run out of time, I have a short cutscene, and I'm returned to the game... but only for a second, because it goes to the same cutscene again, then returns me to the game for a second again.

Developer

thanks for playing. sad to hear a bug like that crept in. I will try to reproduce it later unfortunately wont be allowed to fix it for this jam anymore.
