Game Description
A tiny metroidvania where you unlock platforms to progress.

How does your game tie into the theme?
While you can see a dotted outline, the platforms you must unlock to progress through the game are initially not visible and must be revealed by the player. Additionally, this game--along with many metroidvanias--is all about the unseen in a more abstract way. Wondering what could be on the next screen, and uncovering more and more of the world, little by little, is one of my favorite experiences in games and I really tried to lean into that.

Very cool game, with lots of different mechanics. I liked your level designs, the levels combine well the different mechanics, and the progression feels well thought. I like the fact you don't need to explain any mechanic, and that it feels natural to try the new type of platforms. I especially like the pixelart for the orb pillars and the final orb. I'm bad at platforming so I did rage at some point, but it was accessible enough for me to finish ^^'

Great job!

Developer

thank you!

Cool little exploration-platformer! The controls flow well and the game looks good! The ambient sound did feel very foreboding to me, I must admit it made me feel a little anxious 😅 Though the cheery tune at the end did make up for it haha, good job!

Developer

the way you describe feeling about the ambient sounds and ending song is exactly what I was going for! Thanks for playing.

The 'feel' of this was absolutely bang on, An absolute pleasure of a platformer. New mechanics being brought in at the right times and they all blended seamlessly with the previous ones to keep building the challenge up.

Art was great, felt great. Really nice job, one of my favourites this jam.

thanks so much!

This game was great, it gave off some nice animal well vibes!

Awesome platformer! Well-executed, tightly balanced, felt really good to play and collect everything. Nice integration of metroidvania exploration too!

Developer

thanks so much!

You did a TERRIFIC job at show-don't-tell tutorialization. I always love to see good tutorials like that.

I was disappointed that there was no double jump, and I thought the shooters were a bit fast. But other than that, I think you nailed the metroidvania style. I also really liked the minimalist sound design. I think it fit very well with the game.

 Awesome job!

Developer

thank you! One of the constraints I set for myself was no text tutorials so that’s a big compliment! I love MVs and a huge pet peeve I have with them is how every game HAS to have a double jump. I don’t find the mechanic that interesting and also I think the predictability kinda takes away from the sense of discovery I love in these kinds of games. That being said though it’s use often for a good reason, so maybe I should have put one in haha

This is a really well made game! The graphics are great, and I find the audio nostalgic and satisfying. I appreciate all the checkpoints 😅

Developer

Finally someone else likes the audio other than me haha. Appreciate the kind words!

Very coherent art style, controls were on point. Hitboxes could be a little nicer for the player. Great job on the entry!

Developer

Thanks

Really impressive that you managed to make a well-made metroidvania for a game jam.

The gameplay and pixel graphics are great, but the audio feels a bit off. The eerie background ambient is neat, but the arcadey sounds for jumping and collecting stuff feel a bit too silly (in the case you were going for a mysterious/spooky mood).

Developer

Thanks! I kiiinda agree but only a little haha. I was going for a kinda eerie, haunted NES game vibe. I do feel like the ambient sounds and the harsh synthesized sounds could have been better glued together.

Really nice idea, but sound it a little bit annoying. :/

Developer

I am actually really proud of all the sounds in this game from the synthesized effects, as well as the ambient sounds and ending song.

Can't really say how unseen this really counts as, but as a game itself this is a very solid short metroidvania with good controls and challenge. Definitely one of the best games I've seen in the jam so far.

Developer

Thank you! I can totally get feeling like it doesn't adhere to the theme literally enough. I did come up with the idea from my initial brainstorming session when the theme was announced, but as I was working on it I was always prioritizing making a good, fun experience over adhering to the theme.

Fun platformer, I really like the graphics and art in general, great job

Developer

Thanks! Graphics were the thing I was least confident in going into this but I'm pretty happy with how they came out.

Really well made.

This was a ton of fun! I am a huge platformer fan. I liked all the new mechanics and the level design. I would love to see more levels!

Developer

Thanks means a lot. I don't know if I'll make more levels but I think I will make something similar but expanded in the future.

Ah, I saw you post about this on the discord during the jam, was looking forward to playing it! Very nice, it's very polished and the controls work great. I love the visuals. A very good mini metroidvania. :)

Developer

Thank you!

I liked the mini metroidvania idea. Good job taking something that is often big, and making it work in a simpler form.

Thanks!

Simple, cute and very well made. It took me a while to understand what the purple walls did, but that's just me being dumb. Overall a great game!

Developer

thanks! A couple  people struggled to understand the purple walls in play testing so I think there’s certainly more I could have done design wise to convey what they do.

This was a nice time. Very simple, and I think it thrives on that fact. I finished with all 6 smileys
