Really awesome game! I sadly was too late to rate due to holidays, but really enjoyed this take on the theme. The puzzles progressed nicely, everything was instantly understandable, and lovely atmosphere too. Great job!

Submitted

Cute cute cute! I loved this one and was left wanting more!

Developer

Thank you for playing Joycels. I appreciate the kind feedback. I wish I'd done a few more levels as well :).

Submitted

Fantastic game with great atmosphere and interesting puzzles!

The hints are very helpful without giving away the answer and the sound effects and animations were very well polished

Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing CrowCreations. Puzzle levels are tricky to make, at least they are for me. Trying to balance a reasonable way to figure them out without making them too easy is a challenge. They're probably a bit too easy (and too few!) but I'm glad you enjoyed them.

Brilliant submission, i loved the atmospere and completing the puzzles was satisfying. Lots of little details to admire such as the cloth physics all round great game with no apparant flaws. Congrats!

Developer

Thanks Drysti. There are definitely flaws but it sounds like I did a decent job at hiding them!

This was such a good execution of a really cool concept honestly. Everything worked seamlessly and felt really complete and bug free. The aesthetic of this game was really appealing and I think you absolutely nailed this submission. My only criticism would be that the green and red lights on the switches in the last level were a little hard to distinguish for me at times but other than that, this felt incredibly refined. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for the feedback. You're right about those guiding lights. It was something I noticed a bit late and I'd already decided to submit early and not do more work and just hope it'd be ok haha. I definitely should have made those completely emissive so they could be seen more clearly.

Submitted

As I said, that was one of my only criticisms so if it's something you were already aware of then that's a pretty good success if you ask me ahahah. Do you have any plans on continuing working on this? Would love to see this expanded on in the future!

Developer(+1)

Probably not. I typically leave my jam games in the state that I release them in, for better or worse haha. It might be fun to expand, I'm still have main projects that I hope to actually release one day so those tend to take up my time.

Submitted(+1)

Honestly that is completely valid, I want to come back to my jam game eventually but there's a few games that I want to focus on first so I completely get it. Either way, it was a great submission and I look forward to seeing what you submit to other jams in the future!

That's a very cool concept! And it's very well executed, no bug, everything is smooth, and well polished. The levels are well design, in my opinion. I really like the cape effect, I wonder how it was done, but it's a very cool idea that can be adapter in many gameplay. I also liked the music and the general atmosphere. Everything feels coherent. Well done and congrats ! :D

Developer

Thanks for trying the game. The cape effect is pretty much the tutorial wave shader but applied along a curve so that more "wave" is applied further from the head position and then scale by the player speed. I through it in on the final day because they looked to static then the rest is just lazy scale animation in engine.

I wanted to do nice cloth animations in blender but I'm veryyyyy new to 3D art so I couldn't figure out how to rig the cloak correctly to animate it.

Submitted

Ah yes that's a smart idea using shader for animation! Although i was refering to the effect that makes other stuff visible, like markings on the floor. When we put the cape there is this bubble like zone of new visibility. And i was intrigued how it was done. Sorry for not being very clear ^^' On top of that, I feel quite stupid because you linked the video explaining the effect in the description of the game page, which i'm only noticing now  xD

But it high-lights something I didn't noticed before, the fact that you did all the 3D assets of the game, and they look great! So congrats on that too :)

Developer

Oooohhh, sorry, I misunderstood. Yeah the effect is a slightly modified version of the one from that video, the only difference in mine is that I added an extra uniform bool to completely discard pixels outside of the zone radius. That creates the "hidden" paintings.

I'm still very much a beginner at 3D but trying to improve by trying to do everything I can in my jam assets. But thanks!

Oh. My. God. I just love everything about your game. The looks, the atmosphere, the puzzles, the menu, the end cutscene, ... everything is so perfect. Honestly my new favorite (or it's a tie) game of the jam ! Really nice work !!!

Developer(+1)

That's extremely high praise having played so many of the jam games!  I wish I'd put a few more mechanics and levels in like many of the puzzles games in this jam (like yours!). I'm glad you enjoy it, thanks for the review :).

Amazing game all around! nailed the mood and aesthetic with a really cool implementation of the theme! And even has a cute little storry!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing cjee. I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I would have liked to put a bit more narrative in there but sometimes I spend too much time doing that and not enough on gameplay!

Submitted

It's a game jam, pretty hard to squeeze deep narrative in such a tight timeframe. I think you did great, on that front! It was very narratively satisfying!

Submitted

I really like the game! The clock on the ghost just looks really cute!

It was a great, short puzzle game. The Green/Blue cloak room was a little tight on timing, but otherwise I had no problem getting through each puzzle after solving what to do.

Developer(+1)

Cheers Aidan. I find making puzzles a bit tricky when it comes to tuning. You get so used to playing them yourself that it can make them frustrating for first time players. Time for play testers is something I struggle with most jams tbh haha. My first attempt at a puzzle game so I kept it pretty simple and easy (for the most part).

Really good looking game with nice sound effects and music that fits well together. But the real MVP is that final cutscene. Five stars well deserved! Good Job!

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the ending cutscene, throwing all those cloaks around, it's the least the spirit could do :).

Submitted

Very nice little puzzle game with a lot of polish and a good atmosphere, I really like it! Great job 😄

Developer

Thanks for the kind words Tali. I hope you enjoyed the game!

Submitted

LOL the end cutscene, what a polite ghost. Nice work, loved the way you represented the visibility range while in the cloaks.

Developer(+1)

Haha the ending seemed right considering all the throwing about of cloaks. Thanks for playing!

Submitted

Cool game with short and sweet puzzles.

Well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing, appreciate the feedback.

Cool take on the theme! I really like the art style.

Developer(+1)

Thanks. I've got a long way to go for 3d modelling, programmer art isn't the prettiest!

Submitted

I loved it! The puzzles made sense and I felt smart figuring them out! Nothing more to say lol it was very good

Developer

Thanks Shroombot! I'm glad you had fun. I haven't done many puzzle games because I find them hard to make satisfying and provide adequate hints but this was a fun small scope one to make.
