This is an absolute masterpiece, really ambitious and fun to play! Everything seems polished and is so great, I could play this for 50 hours straight! FromSoftware, beware! Great job!
This game is probably the most ambitious one in the jam. 3D game with amazing animations and sound effects, MULTIPLAYER??, CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION??, and awesome platforming. I did a silly and learned that spamming space when doing a ledge grab gives me more height, and used this combined with the ability to stop my momentum and move forward in midair by attacking to get to places I shouldn't have. I ended up getting the upgrade for the wallcling before getting the actual wallcling which was really funny. The combat felt a little unfair, and could have used some tuning, but it was REALLY funny to go flying whenever getting hit by a tiny lil crab guy. Amazing work on this, would love to see it as a full game. I cannot comprehend how you did this in 10 days, you're genuinely insane.
This game is underatted and need more promotions , it has his own style with the sound effect and art putting together. And from what i heard this game can even be played in multiplayer. Which is not what you would usually think for a game jam.
holy shmoly this game is easily the most impressive in the entire jam, im completely and utterly confused as to why this game has been buried into obscurity. the game is beautiful, the 3d aspect is what makes it even more impressive and then there is online play??? i have no words.
Ok I am actually SHOCKED this game hasn't got more ratings !
This is peak jam content ! I will not state all the qualities I find to this game because I would have not enough characters to write it all !
The only flaw I can find to this game is that ledge control is a bit random, like sometimes i get propulsed into the air and sometimes I just... hop on the ledge.
I hope Shovel will play your game (if not already) !
This will probably be my longest review of a game :D
I really like the style of the game. It's very beautiful and pleasant. I've seen people mention bugs with jumps and attacks, and yes, they do exist. I hope all the bugs will be fixed soon. I'm really looking forward to seeing what this game will become in the future. I'll definitely be following the author. I would love to see what comes out of this game in the future. I will definitely be following the author. It's clear that the game needs a lot of polishing, but overall it looks like something that has the potential to become something great.
Thank you for the game, it's the best I've played on jam so far!
Something is wrong with my game the climb jump are really high and attack pushes forward fast and a lot, health seems broken too as I get sent back although I have 1 health left, I liked the character customization and the game seems to be fun without those glitches
Hey! Sorry you had those issues;
the attack & climb movement is a framerate-dependant bug that happens if you're not playing at a high enough framerate :/
As for the health bug, it's a save initialization bug that should go away once you clear your save! sorry for the inconvenience!
Framerate dependant? So no delta time? :( I would consider playing it after jam once bugs are fixed
Yeah I used the physics delta instead of process delta :/ You can already play the patched version at the link on the game's page!
Super impressive to make such a game in such a short time. The mechanics are smooth, but the graphics are what really stands out. The atmosphere is great, and the characters are creative. I will say, it is a little brave to hide the main mechanics in a pickup around the corner - I almost didn't find it, and was about to give up. But yea, all in all very impressive.
absolutely stellar game... love the vibes and it fells great to play, a little bit buggy, to the point I got really consistent in "super jumping" from the wall climb. regardless of that, combat (the little I did) felt solid , only thing I'd think it would improve combat is a "Z target" system to lock on an enemy. overall had a really good time with the game and will for sure be following progress on it.
this game is absolutely awesome and has such an interesting vibe, i really love the main character design and the world gives me shadow of colossus x pseudoregalia vibes. figuring out how to get to higher areas makes for very engaging game loop. the UI is outstanding and makes getting a new ability all the more interesting. at the end hitting the bell was such an awesome reveal i actually think that would make for a dope level mechanic in of itself. also the itch page is really great work.
here's some thoughts / critiques
- it said i got a health upgrade but i was still getting one shot by the tentacle boys so this confused me
- the tentacle boys hitboxes seemed to be super massive and unpredictable so i mostly avoided combat
- i kept doing the horizontal ledge vault by accident and because of the quickness it would take me all the way down and id just prefer the game without it to be honest cause I'm sure there is but i didn't find one use for it in my playthrough besides killing me
- i like the height the ledge jump gives you and how it becomes an integral platforming tool but it sends up super fast so its visually jarring (now I'm watching the gameplay gif and it looks normal so idk if the physics were going a little wild on my end cause i would get sent up extremely high)
- id prefer a little bit more control of the character in the air after a jump
Hey! Glad you liked it!
Yeah the climb & step-up speed aren't intended to be so fast, that's a bug :/ but glad you still enjoyed the game!
makes sense, regardless i loved playing and see the vision
The look of this game is really cool! A lot of inspiration can be seen in this project from a lot of sources, but for me it seemed to be giving Soul Reaver more than anything else. People have already commented on the movement bugs, so I won't go into specifics here, but I would like to bring up that there are certain places in the map I have no idea how I would've gotten to without using the super launch. Maybe that's what the wall climber ability was for, but I couldn't figure out to get that to work. Otherwise, the movement is pretty responsive, and even if it was a bit overtuned, grabbing onto ledges felt relly nice and snappy. Great work!
great great game. Thank you for controller support. The 3d modeling, mystic style and low res textures gave it a very mysterious appeal. The main character has personality (even if its a ???)
I loved the effect at the end, its so mysterious.
Only one thing, i dont know why but sometimes when you climb a wall you get a lot of propulsion, which sometimes can be beneficial or detrimental. Made me fall to void a couple times!
Overall, loved the style, gameplay, controls and specially, it reminded me to Shadow of the Colossus, a game I love.
Thank you for your game!
This game's atmosphere's great! The animations look so polished and alive! This is actually amazing!
I can see the vision - and i like it.
Though i feel like i had wished for a more polished singleplay version, than the addition of the multiplayer.
I weird issue i encountered was, that all mobs were passive until the point i fell into the pit and died the first time. After that every mob was hostile.
Also what I was curious about, was whether the drop of the mobs could be picked up or used?
Loved the art and kudos creating such huge level.
Hey, glad you liked it!
Yeah the mob's aggro code can break but it resets when you die, still need to find where that comes from.
As for the mob drops they are health orbs so you can only pick them up if you're missing a chunk of health, that's probably missing a bit of visual clarity!
Thanks for the feedback!
The game looks amazing ! The characters, the ambiance, the textures go hard. Givesreal PS2 action platformer vibes - would love to learn what your workflow is for crafting the assets / materials for the level design. :)
I like the gameplay overall, but I think I ended up meandering for too long before I got the game to open up with the wall hang - I think getting the wall hang a bit earlier (or having a more visible point of interest gated by enemies / difficult platforming sections) would help pace the game better for me in the sense that you'll have more urgency to go towards it despite the danger, then would feel the weight / friction relieved as soon as you get the wall hang.
But once you get the wall hang the game really opens up nicely! Then wall clamber is a nice flourish to receive since it just opens up the map even more.
I played with your yesterday and played today a bit on my own. It‘s really a shame that the fps bugs makes teh enemies go flying and me go flying when vaulting n top of a ledge (altough the enmies did work this time)! I still think this is an amazing project and i‘m excited to see where it goes. Really amazing job!
The game looks great, and is undeniably polished in different aspects like the menus and inclusion of multiplayer. I, however, do feel the gameplay is a little lacking. I didn't know if I was doing things correctly half the time, especially at the end where I vaulted over the entire tower instead of climbing the stairs. The mechanics felt like they were unintentional or buggy, and there were certain odd things that happened like enemies instantly killing me with health upgrades.
Please don't take this the wrong way though! I only want to bring attention to these things because I had a lot of fun playing this game. It's incredibly impressive and well made! I look forward to replaying it with my friend sometime soon :)
Hey! thanks for the feedback, the animation speed launching you upwards is definitely a bug! I'll look into it, aswell as the enemies killing you instantly. Thanks again for playing and for the feedback!
Visually appealing, Sounds are great.... The mechanics were a bit broken. Could be interesting. Also, MP doing Godot is such a nice experience, it's actually pretty easy. Hope you all learned something from it.
Unbelievably goated experience (although I did play a slightly less buggy version which had working multiplayer but EVEN THEN. WORKING MULTIPLAYER. IN A GAME JAM.). The mechanics, the ambience, the level design, the art on the powerups. You definitely have to explore for this game but the fact that this was done in less than 10 days with just 3 people is just so difficult to believe. GOD this deserves more recognition.
Really well made game especially considering it was only a one week game jam!! The presentation is immaculate and i love the atmosphere. During gameplay I ended up feeling a bit directionless and slow which sadly bogged down the fun aspect a bit but the game itself feels really well made and I would love to see this game further polished and improved upon!!
Also sadly I couldnt get the multiplayer working :(
Hey! thanks for the feedback, after testing it did look like the hosting was broken, I made an updated version that's linked on the game page where the multiplayer should be working!
