I really enjoyed it!
This is a super creative game, and I really like the story and the gameplay itself!
This is such an impressive game for your first jam good job!
I really did leave the start a long time ago
Kudos!
Maybe you did leave the start...maybe you didn't :) Thanks a lot for playing!
Beautiful game, very polished and I love the balance ya'll struck with repeating levels but not being repetitive. There was thought and dialog for the player testing boundaries before prompted which I loved. This is just a really great game! <3
YES! We thought of some dialogue changes if you didnt make the puzzle after returning the first time or so. Thank you so much for playing and especially for your feedback!
Hello! cool lil yume nikki style rpg! it was fun to slowly learn the story through loops :3 I will say though, i think this game could benefit from having controls a bit closer together (such as e being the interact button for text). Overall a pretty awesome sauce game!
Thanks for playing! Yeah I agree with you regarding the controls but you dont need to use the mouse in our game so both your hands can be on the keyboard at the same time :)
I might say this was the best game I've played so far! It was so interesting, the story, the creepy vibes, everything about this was great! Only thing I would add is some indicator to where the player can dash or give some particles/indicator in the grave scene, other than that this was just perfection. It reminded me a lot about an indie game called "Secrets of Grindea"! Amazing work!
Didnt hear of that game but I'll search it right now. Thank you a lot for the feedback, will surely play your game too!
Nice job! The creepy vibes definitely gave me some chills as the world fell apart around the player. If you were to continue working on this game, a small suggestion would be to have some sort of visual indicator of which areas the player is able dash (maybe a different color of grass on the tilemap, a glowing effect around the player, or even just a prompt to hit spacebar)
Yeah we were planning on doing that but the time was too short. Thanks for playing!
That was a treat that i will remember. Thank you for letting me play your creative idea and thank you for telling me to do so in your comment! :> I don't know why but I enjoyed to spam the attacks. ≥^.^≤
Thank you a lot for playing!
This game is super well polished! I'm very impressed. Did you make the character and the animations themselves, or did you use some pre-made assets?
For an action adventure game, I thought it was too much dialogue at first, but it did all pay off at the end so goob job!
Some assets are made by us but some are from the internet (the character was bought off the internet too). We used the dialogue to give the character some personality and to give the player some hints about the story.
An awesome experience! Great story, controls and everything just looks so good! The only little suggestion I can give is making some visible clue if the dash is available or not. But that's really not that important for this game, so it's not necessary. Great job!
Yeah we were planning on that actually. Thanks for playing!
Neat game! I think the game has a neat concept, especially for the prompt!
The dialogue was a big "obstacle-ish" (like I wish it were a bit more concise or that I could move still during some of it instead of getting halted a bunch, but it was still nice! :)
Thanks for playing! We wanted the player to focus more on the story so thats why we made the character cant move during the dialogues.
I've played and watched a lot of games and shows with these kinds of plot twists, so I saw where this was going. Even so, I really enjoyed this game a lot!
Thanks! Appreciate you for playing.
This game was very very nice! I loved the game degisn, world building and narration! I didn't know you could travel back a level so I was stuck with the key part for a while, but I'm so glad I continued cause I wasnt disapointed with the ending! GREAT JOB :)
Glad you continued and finished it, well done! Thanks for playing our game!
Cool game and cool interpretation of the theme! I wish I could finish it but it seems like the door code isn't working for me? I'll come back and finish it if I'm able to!
The control scheme probably should have been simplified imo. Enter and spacebar could be one button, and honestly the combat could also be enter/spacebar, with you hitting in different directions based on the direction you're facing.
Overall a great entry! I can't believe this is your first game jam! Great job!
Probably you've entered the wrong code. The camera should shake if you activate the correct pillars. Feel free to write us here / on discord if you need help, we'd immediately help you! Thanks for playing!
This is awesome. Truly. Such a cool twist on the theme and a fun adventure throughout. The text on the statue for the hidden code made me think that it would take me somewhere else with no way to go back and that the key was some different secret, so I pointlessly didn't use the hidden code and wasted time. Kinda my own fault for wanting to explore too much haha...
Well done with the given time!
Things I'd love to see if you continue this, or even just want to flesh it out a little more: Make more things interactable. It'd be a great way to make the character's personality come through even more, as well as a way to drop hidden lore, or foreshadow the twist vaguely, or even just to crack more jokes.
Side note: WTF IS A 5 STAR DIFFICULTY IF SLAYING A GOD IS ONLY 4 STAR!?!?
Slaying two gods? :))) You got some great ideas. Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback!
—--- Anyone who hasn’t play, don’t read this review, maybe I get spoilerish and this game deserves to be played blindly —---
This was a good story game :D
I saw where this was going and it made me happy because I always like this kind of story where you know something isn’t right and there is a thing pulling the strings. I didn’t think how the stuff would happen in this game but the twist like this is good, seeing that surprise almost at the end when you see the graveyard was great, I didn’t expect it and made me think you were in some type of hell haha
And the way of doing the big reveal is good, like that part was always there but now that you know the truth, you can see it
I think the only thing I wanted from the end was a fight, the build up to that point was so good and in some way feeling epic so it would be the best or the cherry on the top of this story. Though, the ending is also good, the strong will of the hero is too good so god just surrenders is also entertaining. A way to resume this would be, cinema.
In some way I knew where this was going because it reminded me of Talos Principle, is a bit similar in how the narrator and the world starts to corrupt and in some way the narrator wants you to just keep going avoiding the truth. I don’t remember the other game right now but like I said, I really like this kind of story so I’m happy I could play this game!
Now about the gameplay, I found 2 little visual “errors”, those are so little that don’t impact the gameplay and are hidden in some way, but since the game let me explore, I always try to go around the place to see if there is something and I found:
These boxes, the player is over them and not the other way
And there is an invisible thing blocking the path with all the tombs, which like I said, both “errors” are nothing, just wanted to let you know :)
Now back to the other stuff, visually it is pretty, I find it funny that when the game says something about the trees being made or being assets from other people, I was thinking the same hahaha. Everything feels coherent, from the music to what is on screen, the way the “levels” feel is good, like being able to explore it a little bit feels nice and seeing it change while the cycles happens is interesting and a bit scary, the big mouths are scary
I like the animation of attack, I spam it in every direction for how good it looks. This is the main reason I wanted a final fight, it felt smooth so I wanted to try it out in a more “heavy” scenario. The controls are good and I think the only thing I wanted from this part is dash everywhere. When a game mentions dash I like to spam it even if it can be slower than walking haha
And about the lore, I hope those 5000 gold coins are something great, in most games that would be nothing, so I can’t imagine defeating a god just for 5000 gold coins xD But at least the hero could return to home, which is a good ending :)
Oh, also I like the comments the main character makes throughout the game, it give him personality and that’s great
I think I can say this is one of my favorites in the game jam, maybe biased because I like this narrative but this is a good game!
Good job on your 1st game jam, keep making games ^_^
Thank you SO SO MUCH! I wrote a detailed reply on the discord server because I think it's more direct there, and I really wanted to say those words personally.
I already see it haha, I was writing other stuff so I didn't see until a few moments ago, again, thanks for sharing your game! :D
It was a really good game! I loved the history and the way you used the assets and the sounds you chosen it fit really well, and the plot is interesting. I found some colision bugs, but just this. If you are going to continue this game after the jam, I think would be really hype a final boss fight!!!
![]()
Yeah some collisions are a bit off but we didn't have time to polish all that. Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback especially!
Continue! That was really cool!
A boss fight would be insane! Against we know who ;)
That was an amazing experience. A good story, nice graphics, music, and plot twist - extremely well done! I have zero critique. My second 5/5/5. Fantastic job team!
Appreciate your feedback and you especially for giving our game a try :) Thanks!
I didn't want to jump to any conclusions but... is the hero's headshot in the dialogue box generated by AI?
Firstly, thank you very much for playing our game, it means a lot, we know what an extraordinary game you made also! As for the images, no they're not ai generated, I myself drew them by hand in photoshop. I get where the simmilarities come from, I am inspired by the same ghibli style that has become popular with ai generated images, but I can assure you, I spent my time drawing them myself. Thanks for asking the question and giving me the chance to addres this matter for anyone wondering the same thing haha
Alright haha, great game! I loved the plot twist, and I thought that I'd got it and there would be a grave you could open that would reveal your own body, and the twist would be that every time you restarted you died and a new version of yourself would play and that the entire graveyard was full of you... Although that may have been too dark, glad the real plot twist avoided me until the last moment, because that moment hit different!
The concept was really cool and I was really hooked throughout the game! I definitely felt my jaw drop when the protagonist checked the coffin. This is an incredible first game jam game, well done!
Thank you! Love your game too, as I said :)
no joke... I'm speechless... I was not expecting it to go the way it did. when I saw the "I wonder if the dev got the assets from the internet line" I was ready for a silly, humor filled dialog... not... this... the setting up of expectations and the breaking of it was so good. I like the directional attack (because it is uncommon, it adds to the whole "learning to play/tutorial" bit). For real, having this quality as the first jam game is impressive and I'll be looking for more things the team releases.
This comment really motivates us, seriously. Thank you for playing!
Woah, this definitelly deserves a win :) It was really unexpected, I hoped I would play just a normal game about slaying enemies after the tutorial, but this blew away all my expectations, the dialogue is well written, and the side note in the contract is really nice foreshadowing :p I would absolutely loved it if some subtle background music was playing, and you didn’t necessarily need to make directional combat with arrow keys, just put it on one button e.g X and perform the action in the direction of the characther, and also I wish I could slash those boxes and vases laying around for some loot :D
The background music exists, we turned its volume down a bit tho or maybe you had the volume too low :)) Yeah, the loot idea is good but "This is still the TUTORIAL, remember?" :) Thanks a lot for playing and for these words!
