The main mechanic is kinda boring? It is hard to push blocks exactly the way you want it to, so its less puzzle and more "get the box to the right spot without pushing it too far." And then doing the same thing 3 times in a row after that is not the most engaging game-play. I do like the art style, and the sound effects, but it doesn't draw me in.

How does your game fit the theme?
You have to loop through the level multiple times before you can move on!

Cool game, I really like the art here all the animations are so good you really nailed this style. The platforming also feels really nice. My one nitpick is that for some levels you have to loop more times than the puzzles require meaning you're just repeating the same actions without thinking but overall great submission, well done!
The art and sound effects give the game a lot of charm, but the physics on the boxes were extremely sensitive and would often send them flying across the level, making it hard to progress very far. Apart from that, great work and congratulations on your first game jam!
For your first ever jam, this is a really nice accomplishment! My first entry barely had a game loop, much less a main menu and tutorial section, so good job with that. The platforming elements were pretty standard and played well, so I have nothing to complain there. The looping aspect feels like a last minute addition but I see you’ve heard this already so I won’t go into it more. I will just list some general thoughts about things in no particular order:
-
Sound design was mostly good; stuff like the popping sound when bricks disappeared was well placed. I didn’t like the sound of the boxes hitting the spikes though. It was really grating against the otherwise soft background music.
-
The timed disappearing blocks should have some indication of how much time they have left. Something like the cracks appearing on the other kinds of blocks to tell you how durable they are. Also, it would be better to use tweens to animate things out of existence instead of just plopping them out.
-
Like someone else mentioned, the realistic physics of the box along with the jagged surfaces made it really hard to move it around with precision.

The jump animation was a nice touch, but it felt a bit off. I think its because if you imagine a blob, typically the sprite compresses first, in anticipation of the launch, and then expands beyond its normal height during flight, and returns to normal (or compresses back on landing). Here it just compressed mid flight, which didn’t match the motion I felt. Still good that you even added it to begin with, so its more of a nitpick.
Other than that, I think it was a great first attempt! I hope this experience gave you the encouragement to keep making more stuff.
Thank you very much for the honest feedback. Due to such post I can take notes and improve my skills, the main reason I joined the GMTK game jam (next to having fun of course). This game surely taught me a lot about game design and my weaknesses/strenghts, which is already a win in my book. And I will for sure join more jams after this one (and for sure take part in GMTK 2026)!
Now to your feedback:
The explosion sound is probably the worst sound in the game. It was meant to be a placeholder, since I couldn't find any other noise that I liked. This sound probably gave me tinnitus.
I totally understand that I could have communicated the dissapearance of the platforms better. I probably should learn how tweens work :D
On the box physics I also agree. Could have made a way better character controller and generally make the boxes easier to use.
And at last I also agree with the jump animation. It isn't really responsive and very cheap.
Firstly, congratulations on your first game! For a first game, this was very good especially the platforming. The mechanics were basic but you used them very well. I am sure you can take this forward to make some more interesting puzzles. Though platforming is fun to me, it does become repetitive and multiple loops makes it less interesting. Looking forward to see what you make next, nice work!
Pretty neat game, concepts are simple and well-explained. Artstyle really adds to the silliness of the game, so is sound effect. Each concept is explained and introduced at a good pace. I managed to finish it in one sitting but I imagine there be some way to set up some gnarly levels :D
I like the silly art stile and music a lot! Even though the looping platformer was quite a popular idea this jam, this game did have its own personality to it, I enjoyed it very much!
Love the art style and animation, and the sound effects/music give this game a lot of charm.
Will say that most levels could probably do with less loops, often the last 2 or 3 loops are identical, at least for the earlier levels
Hey this is a great first jam game! My one recommendation is that you should lead your first level with something that shows off your main mechanic - for me I didn't get it until I got to the level with the timed platforms, and then I was like oh - I need to plan out how each loop is going to leave me with platforms and level elements in order to proceed. And that's a cool idea!
My other recommendation is to use a non-dynamic physics based collision/rigidbody for the boxes. With realistic physics and full rotation on the z-axis they can be a little difficult to precisely move in a 2D platformer setting.
Keep up the good work!
Nice concept! I didn't understand very well why you implement the loop mechanic until the 3rd level, nice!
Some of the jumps need to be very precise and that makes the game a bit frustrating :/
This was a neat game. The puzzles progressed decently well. One issue I had, was that the box movement was a bit inconsistent. Sometimes they got stuck and only wanted to tip over and not move. Others it felt like a light touch launched them.
yoo this is fire. I love the toilet sound effect that plays when you die
Cool artstyle and music, but like you said yourself, looping just to repeat levels isn't that creative :)
I'm sure adding more puzzle elements (e.g. first iterations preparing for later ones in more ways) would be a nice addition! Possibly keep the loop count variable, so that early levels can be just 1-2.
Very interesting take on the theme. I like the kind of paper artstyle and that the background isn't just plain white. I would like to see more with the looping involved because having to play each level repeatedly with barely any chance gets boring after a while. Also I think you should shorten the respawn time. Overall I like the game a lot and I think it has some great potential.
Felt like the looping mechanism was an after thought instead of the main attraction. The artstyle is very good, I love these very cartoonish style, and the sound was matching it too. It just need more thought onto the level design. The level where the falling platform was not very clear when you consider the looping mechanism in.
Overall I would give it good on execution as a platforming game, but the theme was not explored enough.
As I say to everyone: Thank you very much for the deep and honest feedback!
already wrote it several times here and you are not the only one that thinks so. This is also, if I must be honest, partially true: The idea came very late during development. And since this being my first game jam I absolutely had troubles with interpreting the theme. Yet I also partially believe that it is also the fault of me not truly exploring all of the design space the idea could have offered.
Yet I am still very glad that the execution was good and that the artsytle is charming. Due to such feedback I can learn from my mistakes, know what I did good and become better. Isn't this the reason we do jams? :D
