How does your game fit the theme?
The main mechanic requires the player to loop around the enemies to damage them. There is also a little sub-theme about building a miniverse by rotating geometry (looping around itself)

i can't win

Developer

Thanks for playing! Would you mind telling me why you couldn't win? Was the game too long or too hard? Or did you find a game-breaking bug? Thank you!

I love how you put roguelite elements into a shooting game. Upgrades are great. Very fun to play. Cool art style. A solid and polished game overall.

Once I figured out how the manifold worked, this was really fun! I felt that it was a little bit too difficult at the beginning, but once I got farther the game loop was very satisfying. Overall, I really enjoyed myself!

Nice skill tree, I liked the minimalist vibe of the game, but the controls feel a bit off and it is tough to make sense of what the game presents. I also found the enemies not balanced. Good job though !

Couldn't really figure out how to make the manifold, I feel like it's too detached from the core gameplay, but the gameplay was super fun! I also love the narrative of building a miniverse from the mysterious white thingy, the whole vibe with the audio and the art is insanely fun!

It was really fun. Sadely I didn't how to make manifold :( But i had a solid 30mins fun

Developer

Thank you for playing! My bad, I thought vaguely talking about rotating space was enough to tell you "get enough speed" but clearly isn't.  To win the game you have to get to speed 40 of the manifold, which is a mix of enough upgrades and staying alive enough. Thank you for the feedback!

Nice game! The arts and sounds are great and feels super polished.

On the gameplay side, I confess that I still feel a bit confused about what the win condition was. It asks me to keep clicking on the white dot but I don't see it doing anything so I'm not sure I was doing the correct thing or not. The other thing that stood out to me as weird is the control that ask me to hold the mouse button to draw circles, but it also uses the same button to click on the dot, and obviously you can't do both at once. The ship also also follows your mouse pointer so it always ends up going around the white dot (because I want to keep my mouse pointer there to click it) instead of me being able to move it however I want. It also felt too difficult for me at the very beginning.

Developer

Thank you for playing and the feedback! In hindsight, not specifying the win condition was bad, I thought just mentioning "rotating space" was enough, which clearly makes no sense. The win condition is getting to the last stage of the manifold then getting enough speed (40), then you win. As for the controls, I wanted to go for a kind of "optimization" gameplay where the game doesn't really let you click the manifold, so you have to be careful with the enemies to click it, seems like it is not balanced enough to let you feel as having a choice.

Your upgrade menu is very well done. It has a very good sci-fi feeling with the popup animations. It wouldn't let me pan around until after I had purchased something each round, but that didn't prevent me for getting all of the upgrades eventually.

The start was very slow, but once I got the first speed and health upgrades it was smooth sailing.

Took me a good while to figure out how to loop early on, everyone turns so slow so just looping normally didn't work, it was only after I figured out you had to loop to where they'll end up did the gears start turning. It was a nice mix up for a looping game like this to change how you would normally do it, though it makes it so once the waves get bigger you're just unable to fight back because the clumps are bigger than you can even feasibly close. II can see that there's a Rogue Legacy structure and it works for a lot of people, but I've never really been super big on it, feels like the game is roadblocking you from progressing with insurmountable odds until you get enough cash for an upgrade and then it becomes really easy. Though I will say it was fairly satisfying getting more upgrades and being able to loop enemies like I would normally. Regardless I thought the plot about expanding a new universe was pretty fun, was interesting to see new shapes for my thingimajig. I noticed a glitch where on the upgrades screen you are unable to scroll the screen unless you purchase an upgrade, otherwise it'll snap to the center. Overall this was a fun time and an interesting execution.

Thank you for playing and the feedback! I see that needing upgrades for being able to complete the game makes it feel forced/like a fake roadblock. I wonder if with some balancing and making it so that you are able to end the game with none/minimal upgrades would make that feeling go away?

Such a polished jam game! Played it all the way to the end.

It had a bit of a slow start, but after that it's super addictive.

Great game, The visuals and sounds are simple but really engaging. Maybe give the player a bit more health at the start. but overall Good submission 🙌

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! You are completely right, I thought giving a hard start but easy upgrades for health early would achieve the difficulty I wanted, but I guess 1 health really was too harsh. I guess 2-3 starting health and maybe a slightly longer tether would solve the issue.

The start of the game is really hard and frustrating I think, it felt random to complete a loop around enemies. The overall game feel was very polished though.

I got very stubborn on beating this game. I honestly did not understand the objective and just tried over and over just attempting to kill enemies, which is extremely hard at the beginning. The enemies are also all the same, you can´t tell what they do by just looking at them. The progression was cool.

Submitted

I didn't get very far, but I enjoyed drawing the loops around targets.

I had fun playing the whole game, the start can be a little slow and maybe a tiny bit frustrating after playing the tutorial, because there you have more stats than the start, making you feel slower than maybe intended.

But the ramp of the skills feel great, from just killing 1 at the time to having a lot of freedom, it feels rewarding! I think the only thing I could say about this part is, the skill tree is locked from moving until you buy one, which can make it hard to buy the skills behind the start button. Outside of that, I didn’t find any bugs or something bad.

I like how the skills unlock slowly, it has a nice variety/branches that at the end you can buy many upgrades at the same time if you play enough. Also it’s nice to see the effect of letters being put 1 by 1, which can lead to a visual error/displacement when it’s colored in another color but it’s ok. Also you can see your maximum progress with the manifold at the center which is a nice touch and I like the shapes after the 1st one.

The sfx and music felt good, never was annoying or repetitive, the variety of enemies is great and actually is challenging to finish the game which I liked, mostly the fast ships are the hard ones when you don’t deal with the shooters.

I had a great time playing this!

Thank you for playing till the end! Glad you had fun! And thanks for pointing out the frustrating parts, fixing those is important, especially for repetitive games. Also the visual error thing actually started out as a bug, but then though "wait, it actually looks cool and scifi, now it's a feature!" ahaha.

Submitted

Ooh, I see, I did that in my past game, it's just a classic making a bug a feature hahaha

Submitted

Very fun game! I like how it becomes faster as you progress through the tech tree giving a nice trade off in challenge and power.

Submitted

very nice

Kinda hard when you first start off, but its pretty fun afterwards! Nice art and music, and keep up the great work! :D

Developer

Thank you for playing! If you don't mind, could you classify what kind of hard it is at the start? Would you classify it as annoying/frustrating? Thank you!

Submitted

Early game is tough until you get hp upgrades and tether length, because you often need to ram someone to complete your loop before tether runs out, otherwise fun!

Submitted

The feedback and graphics on the loop mechanics are so juicy! I wish I've done something similar in my game
