How does your game fit the theme?
In this game, you explore to find the ingredients needed to brew your potion. You have a limited time (X seconds) to complete your task before the room resets, starting a new loop. If you don't succeed, the room and the ingredients will reset, but you'll retain your knowledge from previous attempts.

I enjoyed this game, very cute but a bit short. I like the idea but I wish you would've done more with it, here's a few suggestions I have:
1 - Allow the player to restart the game by pressing a button, maybe R, because I found myself many times to put the wrong ingredient in and then I had to wait for the round to restart. Or actually it would be even funnier if the cauldron exploded if you put the wrong ingredient in lol

2 - You should add more depth to the items you find, for example in the second level when I saw that you needed to throw in a "bloody knife" and I saw the normal knife on the table I imagined I'd have to use the knife on something to get blood on it, but then I saw there was a different bloody knife. What i'm trying to say is it would've been cooler if you leaned more into the puzzle aspect of the game, where you had to do something to get the items you needed, instead of just looking for them, for example I really liked what you did on the last level by hiding the cake!

3 - Some music would've been really cool, even if you don't make it

That's my 2 cents, overall I really enjoyed the game and i'm curious to see how it would look in the future if you were to expand on it

Thanks for the detailed feedback! We never considered allowing players to restart a level prematurely, but it definitely makes sense - as you pointed out, there are times when a single mistake means you can't possibly win the level, and you still have to wait for the timer to run out. We thought it would motivate players to explore more, but since the levels are so small right now, it doesn't really work 😅. We planned to add more interactions between objects, but we didn't get it up and running before the end of the jam. We will explore how to expand the puzzle aspect of the game for a future release.

I couldn't figure out the last level but I had a lot of fun with the first two levels. I think it's a great idea. Nice job!

The cake was hidden under the piano

Good game, but I wish there was a little more to do with the looping mechanic, like maybe past versions of your character can bump into you or something. Great artwork and audio too!

A fine game but that last levels solution was not fun at all since it is not intuitive to the player that the object can be hidden. Previous levels the object is in always in plain sight but this one feels cheap by hiding it.

Developer

Thanks for playing our little game! We will try to improve in a future update (or future jam) how we introduce players to variations of the core mechanics more gently. The third level abruptly subverts the player's expectations with an object that might not be reachable or visible at first. Maybe we could have shown hints or titles that suggest the solution to make it less frustrating 🤔

This is a really cool take on the theme and well done too. The gameplay and HUD/UI art is all matching and consistent. I love that, it really adds to the overal game. 5/5 nice work!

Also I'd appreciate feedback on my submission if you get a chance!

Thanks for the kind words!

Pretty fun find the item game! That piece of cake level is hilarious!

If possible, please consider rating my game too.

Really cute game, it was fun to play it.

Great game, I had fun playing it!

Nice little item finding game. It was kinda funny to imagine what kind of potion the wizard was trying to make with a grand piano. Also a small thing but when he picked it up it also slows him down quite a bit, so that's a small nice detail.

The art looks ok, but some things seem out of place with the other things. The music is nice, but it seemed to not loop when the song ends.

SPOILER: I got stumped on the piece of cake level. My first intuition is obviously picking up the knife and brought it to the big cake, but there's no prompt saying that you can slice it or anything, so I looked around a bit, but I'm not sure what I was supposed to do next. Now some games are actually also like this, like the old point-and-click adventure games I used to play back in the days, where you sort of click random things until you got the right things or you trigger some sort of events to progress the story. But in those games there are loads of things to do, so it didn't feel boring when you got a little stuck, whereas in your game is very simple, so these sorts of roadblocks are major hurdles and honestly will turn off a lot of people.

Thanks for playing our game and taking the time to give us feedback! We are still learning about the assets and music department: we will try to remember your suggestion for our next jam.
The idea of implementing extra steps with objects being able to interact with each other was considered, but we didn't manage to implement it in time 😅 This is one of the reasons why the last level feels a little rush.

Nice game. First time I got to make a potion that contains a grand piano :D

lil wizard goes faaaast! such cute animation, love the character and world

I thought this was adorable - really liked the wizard sprite, their running around was very cute. The item sprites are all brilliant too while retaining the need for you to really search through them to find ingredients. An enjoyable take on the theme with cute visuals! I wanted to know more about who they were and what they were making.

I agree that removing the timer on level one would be good; maybe the first potion you make is accidentally a Potion of Looping 💞

This art style is so amazing, would love to play more games that look like this!

This was a very cute and fun game I like this idea of looping and having to use the looping to remember where stuff is so you go faster each loop!

Cool puzzle with search for objects. There is humor, I like it. Cool graphics, good sounds. I did not have enough time to remember the things that need to be found, maybe make a stop of time? And the first level should remove the timer altogether, otherwise it is not immediately clear what needed to be done.

Thanks for your feedback! Removing the timer from the introductory level is a great suggestion - we will keep it in mind for a more polished version of the game!

fun little game! very curious what kind of potion would use an entire grand piano :p

I knew instantly where that cake was cause momma can't hide cake from me!

The art was charming and the game play was fun.  I liked that ingredients changed color in the recipe book after you added them to the brew.

took me a bit to realize I could read the book for the recipe (duh!), but once I got it it was very fun to run around picking up items. I especially found it funny when grabbing the piano and suddenly moving painfully slow xD

I wonder if you could've made a bigger level that started opening doors as you progress, and then it starts rewarding you for really learning the layout as it grows. It would be very exciting to go "I remember seeing a bloodied knife somewhere around here" and looking around frantically when it was under your nose all the time

not much more to say! just a short, fun experience, congrats!

Got quite frantic at parts, but felt really nice when it all clicked! Nice work!
