It's really satisfying how fast you go when you activate your powers. I did have a bit of trouble understanding what it meant to complete a loop, though, and I kept feeling like the loop wasn't connecting when it should have (typically the two ends of the loop were parallel with each other, but just slightly off from each other).  I played the game earlier in the jam before you released the video, and the incredibly trustworthy rat encounter was one of my favorite parts of the game, it helped give the game much more of a personality.
P.S.: If you could play my game, that would be fantastic! (I couldn't comment on your video because I don't have a youtube channel :( )

Fun game! Core game mechanic reminded me a lot of Pokemon Ranger. Good work.

I like the idea, played it after seeing your devlog on it. game was quite enjoyable would have been cool if you further explore the concept. for the top right room I presumed you had to loop the 2 reds without looping the green I accidentally looped the green but it still counted not sure if that is intentional or not. for the boss fight when the enemies are out the guy is faded and it is clear u can't damage him however it took me a while before realizing the same was true when the fire was out and that damage boosting was doing nothing. I understand how everything else sets it self up to loop at the end but what happens to the rat. Is there just an infinite amount and are they all liars?

Wow, really good game, the gameplay principle is very nice, you did a good job!

No way you’ve made Evil F$#@ng Wizard: The videogame. Short & sweet

Nice work! The game is really fun to play!

That a pretty creative idea, with some nice visuals and backstory! But for me it seem like this game would be much better with a controller (joystick), like to do these loops with WASD was kinda a pain, but it was fun!

Not bad. I feel like mark overreacted a little. Like the graphics. Did feel like the controls were a little finicky at times. Especially when you get stuck on corners on the walls. But overall not a bad game. Good work getting it all done within the game jam timeframe.

Came here from your Youtube video and I actually really enjoyed the game. I did struggle with the respawning of the ghosts but I really liked the drawing mechanic.
Well done! 🌟

This game is really fun to play.  Not too hard, not too easy. Has nice artwork and sound. Story is simple but fits just right. That is a job well done!

I had to reload a few times to avoid bugs, but other than that, cool game :)

Developer

Thank you! I have a fix ready to go. One of those bugs you just can't believe made it past you, but I know exactly what causes it.

I saw your video on YouTube . We  have the same core mechanism! I like the story and humor in your game. The controls feel a bit awkward when drawing, though. I also found a bug: if you die in the tutorial, the tomb will still spawn enemies and travel to the previous room before you get there. Still, it’s pretty good considering this is your first jam. Great job!

Developer

Yes, thank you. I have a fix ready to go for that once the jam concludes. I really appreciate the kind words. I think this game could benefit from gamepad controls rather than keyboard. That or some sort of mouse controls. The keyboard does make navigation a bit challenging. I appreciate the feedback!

Nice game! Congratulations on getting it in before the cutoff time. I can definitely see the influence of RPG Maker I used to use it back in the day too.

I am very nostalgic for my days of using RPG Maker back in the day. Good times.

Cute game. I had some trouble while playing. The ghosts didn’t seem to despawn after I died, so at some point there were too many for me to handle. I think the learning curve could use some improvement. Maybe start with one moving target in a single room. Then introduce two single moving targets, followed by a static enemy and a moving one. After that, you could add one spawner with a low number of targets. Other than that, I liked your game once I got used to the controls. Well done :)

Developer

Thank you! I have a fix ready to go for that ghost spawn issue once the jam concludes. Can't believe I didn't catch it before uploading the game. I appreciate the feedback and definitely agree.

For a first game jam game it's quite great! I quite liked the writing, it wasn't anything extraordinary but it made the experience feel more lively (I especially found the rat quite funny). The looping mechanic was a bit finnicky, sometimes it wouldn't detect a loop even when one was there, but for being done on a time constraint it's totally serviceable. Also I struggled a little with the simon says bottom left puzzle, it's a bit harder than usual because drawing a loop takes some time (which isn't a bad thing), but the lights for the switches felt like they'd randomly not turn off which I wasn't sure if it was part of the puzzle or a bug.

Still I'm happy to see others taking inspiration from Pokemon Ranger! I've also done a game that tries to replicate its mechanic, but it's a bit simpler and more arcadey, feel free to check it out if you want
