Maybe my third favourite Kevin game yet!

This was really fun! The platforming was pretty tight! and the enemy designs/animations were pretty funny!

The fakeout here was pretty funny! (Though the game being titled 'kevdate' may have gave it away ever so slightly 😅. Needless to say  I did better in this game than my own dating life, and managed to date at least 1 of the 2, I think!?

The dance section was a welcome surprise! (wow it's a while since I did a dance minigame 😅)  Though yeah it was definitely on the tricky side.

Overall great stuff once again though! Really impressed!

i like the boss fight and the game play   but the game is so hard and the graphics is so low

Another interesting entry in the Kevin series.

The graphics were nice and jank, the sounds were suitable, and the platforming while not terrible did make it near impossible to avoid damage and losing all my gears at some points. It grinded my gears. It especially didn't feel great with the flying enemies as they felt pretty unforgiving with how far above them your character sprite had to be to count as an attack.

As for the dating sims boss fights, I found it really hard at first until I discovered there was some rhythm to it. But then when I got to the rhythm based section I found it very unclear how well I was actually doing. I ended up having to lean on the IDK button just to progress. I admit I haven't played Undertale so I don't know how much of this was supposed to be intuitive or not.

Ultimately I think this was well made, and clearly it was created with love and effort, though I also don't think I'm the target audience of this kind of game. But that being said you did great work!

Now that was some Grade-A SBIG material! Sure, the rhythm section did feel a bit off (it wasn’t quite clear what the right timing for pressing the buttons was, not helped by the somewhat misaligned button prompt icons making it rather hard to work out if I’m meant to be pressing certain buttons at the same time or at slightly different timings), and the dash felt like it should have been an attack/invulnerable state when it wasn’t (causing some accidental deaths when doing something which kinda felt like it should have been like that), but, besides those minor gripes (which probably could be chalked up to skill issues on my end), this was a very well-made entry, with great music, very nice art, and very good writing, combined with some very creative gameplay elements. Bravo!

Hi Clarence :)

I can see you guys put a lot more effort into the dating sim part, compared to the first Kevin game which is just platforming. Unfortunately, I am kinda too autistic for love. (Plus I already have glgrd so I don't really need or want the weird airplane and train guys)

Also the D-pad up and down button doesn't work for the dodging part

Developer

Oof, must have forgotten to bind that

I dont think web build has correct dimensions, a lot of the times in platforming I wasn't able to see my character.

Hopefully should be fixed

Yeah, thanks! Even though it didn't click for me, good game! I felt like I am playing the old school flash sonic game. But jumping felt inconsistent. Also did not expect to have a date with a plane or a train!

Mixed feelings about this one. It's absolutely a solid entry and hits the right notes for SBIG Jam, but it just didn't click for me. It's a surprisingly solid platformer, but I'm just not into platformers. It copies a core mechanic from Undertale that I hated in Undertale. Even the humour kind of fell flat. If nothing else, though, there's definitely a lot of work and a lot of love that went into the project, and that comes through in the finished product.

Unfortunately our third team member had to drop out due to college stuff this year. They were the one who planned the initial game idea so eps and I had to fill in the gaps. Ended up with a fair bit less than what we wanted, and the way the date sections turned out is mostly because of that

Developer

hate that guy?? wtf she drop out!!! btich!!!

the airplane was so mean to Kevin at first 😔 says a lot about society

love the platforming an animations, got quite stuck with the level design but I'm sure that's intentional with the theme, fun game!
