Great idea for a game. I really like the palette you used as well.

Really sick art style. Combat was really neat mechanically.

What a great game! If you build it out further, it would be cool if the timed blocking also worked during attacks to boost them.

The Pokemon references had me laughing out loud :)

Hey, thanks for the kind words :)

I really should have made a tutorial to explain all of this, but there are actually timed attacks as well! Hitting them successfully allows you to apply effects such as poison and stun.

Nice little game. Not exactly sure I understood how to block attacks, I just spammed space and it seemed to work. I noticed two bugs (music does not loop and one can see the enemy guy finally beaten in the bottom of the pit behind the altar before actually beating him by flying over him into the pit), but they are nowhere near serious enough to ruin the enjoyment (and the second one is kind of funny). Nicely done! :)

This was great! Super cute and fun! I wish there had been more obvious feedback when you were blocking but otherwise great work!

Really fun idea that you have to block a Pokéball because you're the monster. ^^ Also funny that I seemingly was able to skip a whole part of the game because I just walked straight to the altar and instantly killed him. I also really like the atmosphere!

Great game! Just when I mastered the combat, it was all over. I especially liked the art, very nice palette.

I agree with the other comments, it would be nice to make sure we understand the timing for the fights with visuals or sound. Otherwise I love this kind of little experience, I think it's very successful from start to finish, it's not pretentious, the dialogues are funny as well as the graphics and animations are great. Bravo.

Excellent color palette and gameplay, good work. I loved the detail that it rolls into a ball to move forward.

Loved it. It took time to get used to blocking and attacking timing, but it was fun. Would not mind to play a longer version :)

Really cool role reversal!

Some small indicator of when to hit the button would go along way here. I flew over the final boss and saw his corpse before he was dead. There wasn't much challenge to the game. Stun felt OP. The music was great, but in the first area it doesn't loop and just cuts off abruptly which was a shame.. Really great tunes though. Longer battles would have been appreciated.

The story was very funny and I loved the art! The rolling slime character, Gooey, is adorable!

Nice little game, when I understood how to hit and defend and that I can fly, the game became quite easy to complete and it was enjoyable)

I enjoyed playing through this game. The aesthetic stood out immediately; great choice of colour palette for the overworld and the caves.

I'm not sure if it's a bug, but I found that mashing "Enter" in the combat situations always resulted in blocking the trainers attacks. It would've been good to see the turn-based combat expanded on.

I particularly liked the humourous dialogue throughout. It contrasts well with the theme - "How's my Grandson? Fine you say?" at the end got a good chuckle out of me!

Thank you for the kind words :)

Oh wow you’re right, button-mashing is a viable solution! I’ll have to fix that after the end of the jam.

I like the game aesthetics and mechanics, although you could be a bit more forgiving with damage and timings. Or even if you aren't, consider adding more "juice" or indicators to show the player hit the parry window or not. Other than that I love the concept and art! Plus 1 for a fellow Godot user ;)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! There is an “easy” mode in the Options menu, if you want to try it :) It pretty much only changes the attacks/blocks timing though.
