How does the game fit the theme?
You are a biscuit in an action packed risk it or lose it game to get back your stolen giant biscuit from the warden
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I'm using my own custom engine which is very primitive, so before the jam all I had was shape and texture rendering. The rest of the game code was made during the jam.
All of the art assets were made during the jam
The SFX are licensed for use from a Humble Bundle asset pack
The BGM is Create Commons - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw_OQC1Atzw

Fast and frenetic. I liked the sketchy art style. I wasn't always too sure what was going on though, so feedback might be worth a re-visit. Amazing entry for a solo dev! Good luck in the jam
Very complete game overall! Love the fact you can run out of ammo and you can change weapons and pick up powerups as well. The rolling mechanic was very cool too. Interesting art and I really liked the music.
It does have some things that can be improved tho - I got stuck in the wall a couple of times because of being shot by a lot of things. Also the walking is a bit too slow and takes a bit of time to start,if it is snappier I think it would be a big improvement. I managed to get to the last boss but I could not get past him because he just wouldn't die, I kept firing all kinds of weapons at him, even stood right in front and just spammed. He didn't seem to want to chase me either so I couldn't get him out of the way.
Great work, especially since the engine is yours!!
Really enjoyed the art style and general theming. The guns felt crazy strong, really liked it. The final cookie did phase through the wall for me at the end, but I otherwise enjoyed it. I think I would have preferred more friction on the movement, and have the heavy guns just make you slower
awesome artstyle!
I feel like the camera zoom is too close, other than that it's a nice experience. Bonus point for doing flips mid combat.
Love the art style and how it came together, the music and sfx really pulled it all together and it honestly just felt really good.
Alright that was fun, though only after I finish the game that I realize you can double tap to dodge XD. Though sometimes I'm having an OP gun and then randomly picked up a handgun dropped by an enemy by getting knocked back by another enemy is quite frustrating sometimes. The murderous cookie was hilarious
Hehe thanks for the feedback. I was curious if the simple “dodge 2x” on the wall was enough to explain that, or how many would discover it by accident.
The gun switch is a legit concern, perhaps would have been better to have explicit pickup with E or Q though that may have complicated the game more adding an extra control.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very unique art style. The rolling adds an interesting twist to the shooting gameplay. One issue I had is that I could barely see the bullets, either mine or enemies. Good job on everything else.
Loud sound warning!
Loved the art style and had fun rolling around and shooting other cookies. I wasn't able to beat the boss it seemed like no mater how long i shot at it, it didn't die. I still had a blast - great entry!
The hand-drawn sketch style is very nice and stood out a lot! Well done! I also like the mafia cookies design, seems like you've put a lot of effort into that! The gameplay is also enjoyable, a bit on the easy side for sure, especially if you get better weapons than your starting pistol (and god forbid if you accidentally took the shotgun). I made it to the end of the level, and sadly, the boss clipped out of the level and I was never able to kill him.. sad
For some criticism, I think the main thing is that the audio, especially the gun sound, is a bit too loud. It drowned the background music and forces me to tune the volume way down to make it bearable. Another thing is that it would be nice to know what the reloading progress is, so less guesswork on the player to know when it will be ready to fire again.
Anyway, I think you did quite a good job! Keep up the good work!
Thanks very much for playing and for the feedback! Sorry about the boss bug, it’s one which seems to happen entirely at random. Likely the enclosed space with all his health drops.
Really enjoyed the hand-drawn charcoal visuals, super unique! The audio was great, i just wish there was an audio slider.
My only critique is that the character was definitely too slow and i got lost really easily, other than that, well done!
Thanks for the feedback, audio is certainly something I will be working on improving. Thanks for playing!
I love how the cookie becomes more maniacal over time XD. Great game
Really cool game and it's impressive that you made your own engine. Combat and music fits so well, but I honestly couldn't beat your game, I played for several minutes and couldn't find the way. You can see by the amount of points in my biscuit-o meter. This arrow points to that direction, I tried to go around the map and I have no idea how to proceed. Well, good game anyway. Congrats
Ah this is a new one, the boss is supposed to be exactly where you are at! There’s a chance he got blown out the map. Thanks for playing!
Oh I see. Actually I defeated a guy exactly in this place. It was a cookie with a bazooka. So after I defeated him it was supposed to appear a Ending Screen? So have I beated the game?
Yep you finished the game, the next part is just the end screen. Congrats! :)
Impressive work! As a sound designer I think you picked good sounds, they were just all too loud. Does your own engine have a volume control? I found the characters movement options and speed to be unsatisfying especially when you can get knocked around so much by the bullets. The last cookie had sooo much hp. It would have been more impressive if he had more abilities that complicated the battle rather than a lot of hp that you just spend a few minutes shooting at each other with bazookas. It also took me a while to realize that the guns reloaded, so maybe a visual or audio signal would have been helpful for that. The collection of different weapons and picking up cookie bits was a cool idea. I also really liked the hand-drawn art.
Thank you for the feedback! To address some things:
Thanks again for the feedback and thanks for playing!
The visuals are top notch, and the gameplay was really solid very impressive stuff!
Thanks very much!
Hand drawn rampage! Love the rolling animation haha! I really enjoyed this one, great job man!
Thanks so much for playing!!
The art style and the usage of a custom engine definitely makes the game stand out in the jam. The sound design and music choice is good. One thing that could be improved would be the view distance but being durable makes it a non-issue. I hope you get the ranking you want :)
Thanks very much!
Ah sorry about that. If it was the web build, then this is definitely one of the known issues with it.
Such a pretty game. This is my first game jam. It would be cool if you rated and commented. :D /jam/brackeys-14/rate/3851809
it pretty cool, i like what you did with art
