Ranked from 153 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
The character must cross a bridge that could collapse at any moment and takes a risk in the sense that the cookies baking on the other side are well worth it.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All external assets I used are listed on the game's page and also within the game itself as a way to credit their authors, who generously made them available for free and allowed for use in any project. Regarding the code, I had some drafts of path creation since the idea already existed in my mind, but I didn't have a game yet. As soon as the jam theme was announced, I created the terrain, set up its progression, designed the entire UI, worked on the character's movement and animation, recorded all the sounds (except the music), created the pixel art, etc.

How many people worked on the game?

Very fun silly little game!  Especially love the ragdoll like physics when the platforms and characters fall XD.  Though I do wish there were a bit more of a hint going into stage 5 but all in all good job^^

Developer(+1)

It was fun working with those animations. It's my first time working with them in Unity, but some friends showed me that Adobe website that already has a bunch of pre-defined animations, which helped a lot... they already had the jump and fall animations. I'm glad you liked it.

Regarding the tips, I'm planning to include a hint system that I'll implement as soon as the jam is over. =)

Thanks so much for the feedback!

The game is very interesting. It really had me analyzing every decision I made to advance. Someone please tell me the secret rule. Hahaha.

Developer

Cool! I'm glad the game presented you with a bit of difficulty. =P About the secret rule, I imagine you're talking about the fourth stage, right?! Because from there on, they're all secret :) Unfortunately, I can't talk about it here to avoid spoilers, but if you can send me a DM through itch.io, I'll tell you what it is.

Hits:

  • This game is quite fun, if you’re into puzzle games!
  • Simple rules that are easy to grasp.
  • Cute art, music, and gameplay experience. It’s quite the engaging experience. It feels incredibly well to reach the end of the level and see that YOU WERE RIGHT AS TO WHAT THE RULE WAS! :)
  • It DOES make you think for a little bit. Once the rules are out you NEED TO START USING YOUR BRAIN TO WIN!

Opportunities:

  • Being able to “buy” some hints could help people become unstuck in certain levels.
  • Instead of breaking the whole level and rebuilding it, it might be worth testing out just destroying the block where you made the mistake and letting the player try again with that same layout for a few tries before rebuilding the level, as this could help ease the difficulty spike.
Developer

Thank you so much for such comprehensive feedback! I'll definitely consider all your suggestions as I plan to continue working on this game after the jam.

This was cute! The rules are cute and simple, I like the silly story of the grandma :3

Developer(+1)

The story was created alongside the release of the jam theme, and initially I thought it was pretty nonsensical, hahaha, maybe that's why I adopted it. After a while, I got used to it. Thank you so much for the comment and for trying the game.

I love that the rules are given for the first couple to warm us up only to take them away once were comfortable. Really interesting as a concept and I never felt cheated when I took a wrong step

Developer

I'm so happy with your feedback! You captured the essence of what I wanted to put into the game! :)

very cool puzzle game

Developer

Thanks, mate!

Really interesting game! My recommendation is to make the first secret patters to be a little easier. I still dont really know what level 4 is to be honest. Great work though!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! Some people have made similar comments, and this is a sign that I need to improve the level balance. I'll do it after the jam. =)

Great concept, but i was sometimes a bit too dumb xD

Developer(+1)

=P thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Overall a great concept, I got a bit confused on stage 6 and figuring out the rules, it was hard to discern whether the rule had to do with direction or what was stepped on. Still great!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you liked it. Regarding the stage 6 rule, it was intentional. Some rules are block-validated, meaning there are valid and invalid fixed blocks. Other rules are dynamically created based on the initial block you step on. In the case of the level you mentioned, the dynamic rule is in the direction, as you said. In other words, a valid block can become invalid depending on your position relative to it.

I stepped wrong. (fr though awesome game).

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback :)

Bastante criativo, gostei, várias regras legais, vários níveis, parabéns.

Developer

Muito obrigado! Gostei bem do seu jogo também! Boa jam!

This is really clever!

Developer

Thanks!

Super nice idea and solid execution. Glad to see someone using Extenject in the project too :) Great job.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for trying out the game and for the comment. I've used Extenject in other projects too... it's really helpful because I like to include unit tests for certain parts of the code, so I can mock things like Unity's delta time and player prefs with provider interfaces and implementations specific to the game and tests.

Pretty cool! I got stuck on a couple of the rules, but it was still really fun. Good job!

Developer

Well, the rules need to be better balanced and are on my TODO list for future versions, which I plan to post after the jam. Thank you very much for the feedback.

I really like the mechanics, it was great and clear and you did it alone,
GOOD JOB!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for the feedback!!

Submitted(+1)

Some of the rules are so hard :)

Developer

Yes, the game needs better balancing. It will be done after the jam. :) Thanks for the feedback!

Very cool and very different from most games in the jam. I really like the mechanics and the idea to make the player figure out the rules by trial and error. Some are very obvious and some are too obscure but I understand how that is difficult to balance. Great job overall.

Developer

And I confess that from the reviews, I realized I didn't balance the game well. I plan to work on that after the jam. Many people said they got stuck on the first secret rule. Anyway, thank you very much for the review and for testing the game.

i feel bad for dyslexic  people playing this game

Cool Game! Nice take on the theme and cool visuals. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! I had a great time playing your game!! =)

This is of course a very fun game, one of the downsides I can note is that the character can cover the next block, but otherwise everything is great!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback. :) I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I also noticed that the character covers the number above the block, so I included on the left side the current value of each block and the block below the mouse. This way, even with low resolutions or character angles, the player can see the current and next block.
