I loved it! The white enemies are insane. I wished they were in every room. Great work, keep it up!

This may come as no surprise, but I really enjoyed the speed. Also, the lobotomy mechanic was really amusing.

Some music and more weapons would give this game the uniqueness it deserves! Well done!

The gameplay is pretty good, although the control scheme is hard for left-handed players because we're used to controlling movement with our right hand. The lobotomy mechanic is a cool idea and the sfxr sound effects bring back some old memories. :D

I loved the idea of a lobotomy, I found it a little difficult, but I really liked it!

I loved the lobotomy idea, having a timing/almost roulette feeling pick to your upgrade is awesome (we wanted to do similar but time…). I did find the cooldown super long on the shotgun which I think could’ve helped the overall pacing a lot to reduce. It felt like maybe only the same three “options” were ever provided with a lobotomy? It’d be cool to see more if you were to develop this further! Pretty solid start here though :)

Developer(+1)

I didn't really spent my time wisely for this game, mainly did the game in the last 2 days of the jam. I would add more upgrade options, but I didn't really had time, and the way that I program the system that handles the lobotomy didn't really help me, like, adding new upgrades is super easy, just create a resource and drag, but instantiating and initializing that is  super scuff, and by the time I realized that I had about 50 minutes before the deadline and it was 6am and I decided to prioritize adding some sound effects, building the menu UI and building the game xD. I don't know if I am going to develop this game further, maybe just an small update to fix and add some things that are lacking :D

Submitted(+1)

cool! It would be even better if there was music in the game. in addition, the character's speed is uncomfortably fast (for me).

the idea of the game is very... funny xD

A good use of the theme, with simple levels. To improve I would of maybe had the mouse be used to aim and shoot. Also maybe show the zones in the Lobotomy screen.

I really like the idea behind the lobotomy mechanic - it’s creative and unique! The controls feel a bit tricky at the moment, but with some background music and mouse shooting, the game could be even more fun. Great work so far!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool idea, and the pixel art is nice! I feel like the main thing it's lacking is just some guide of tutorial or instructions, but it definitely fits the theme well, and it's a pretty unique concept :D

Submitted(+1)

Cool concept and yeah lobotomy is definetely not a safe practice!
But I have to say that I didn't really feel the risky theme because the lobotomy here is somthing that you basically have to do to get stronger (It's not a risk and reward mechanic which requires agency)

It took me a while to understand how to shoot and I suggest a couple of things about this:
- you can write the controls on the first room floor (like in Isacc)
- make the "confirm" for the lobotomy something like "press any key" instead of using the mouse because if players starts use it they will be more inclined to consider using it for shooting as well

Hope this feedback will be helpfull!
P.S. The volumes definitely need to be adjusted...

Developer

Yeah, I should've written the controls in game before. I did make an update to add it, but then when I was going to upload, I noticed that the allowed 48h period was over, so only in a post jam update. Now the mouse part really makes sense, now that you mention it. I also should've added audio sliders in the 48h period as well, I know the jam rules says to not really add stuff in this time, but in this case it is something that I should've done it anyways.

The lobotomy mechanic is something that I didn't really turn out as I wanted. as I wanted to include other minigames/ items to compensate it.  Like, I've wanted that the lobotomy item that could give massives buffs, but if the player used wrong it would debuff you a lot. But since I didn't use my time for this jam in a smart way, meaning a lost a lot of time, thx for feedback :D.

Yeah now I definitely understand what you said about difficulty on my game lol. You're game is really challenging, but not in a unfair way, the Lobotomy mechanic it's really cool. So I made a great party when I got a good firing rate, but I died many times and couldn't beat yet. The concept of the game is basically ready, you only need polishing after the jam, pretty good game. The room with the big blue guys and a lot of small enemies is really challenging. Well, your game has potential to expand. Congrats!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, didn't really used my time wisely for this jam.  the first few days I didn't do anything, only on wednesday that I really start putting stuff together and even then I really didn't put out the hours. As I results I didn't really had time to add most of the stuff I've wanted, like more guns, or a small random generation system, actual final boss and more upgrades for the lobotomy, music and such. But luckly for me, the jam did allowed 48h period to fix bugs, so I rushed 30 minutes before the deadline a small UI, as the bugs I would fix later. Now most game bugs are fixed, I think.

Maybe I will polish the game after, I don't know, I well see :D

Had managed to survive until the room with three enemies - multitasking and not aggroing was clever.

Though, the most challenging was getting through doors, after two speed boosts with brain manipulation - felt like a race car:)

Submitted(+1)

The idea is awesome, it's basically the perfect fit for the theme since it's the worst risk a person could possibly take, but I couldn't figure out how to shoot

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Its the arrow keys that shoot. will add an update to make that more evident :D

Submitted(+1)

Very cool game!

Loved the lobotomy mechanic. really cool idea.

On the second try the lobotomize button stopped working. Otherwise flawless.
I never wanted to lobotomize myself until nofwe arrasetond rastneio.

Great work!

Developer

It is a memory leak, It should be fixed on the next bug update soon

Submitted(+1)

I can't seem to fire, probably a bug? I love the concept though!

Developer

It is the arrows key that shoot. But it can also be a bug..., I am working on fixing some of the major bugs that I knew it had, but I had to focus on publishing the game before the jam deadline :D

Submitted

oh! I was using the mouse to point and shoot. I will give it another try :D

Submitted(+1)

Great game but there are some bugs

Developer(+1)

Thx, I am working on a small update to fix all the bugs!! that I've known since development, but I had to leave just to submit the jam before the deadline!
