How does the game fit the theme?
The game is a tower defense game where your money equals your health - you have to choose how much health to risk for strength in defense. Also, the game is themed around the way cats make biscuits in soft things, as a play on words with the theme. You literally have to risk biscuits!

Great work! This is a cool take on a tower defense game. Having the bakery tied to both income and health is a neat twist that can add a lot of strategic depth. The tower upgrades did feel a bit overpowered—until the final two levels, I felt no pressure to diversify or expand my towers, since I could just max out one and then move on. Also, upgrading a tower while still needing to repair it feels more like a punishment. Overall, a really fun game—I’m looking forward to the next iteration!

Awesome game! it has a very polished feel to it. Loved the visuals and the audio as well.  Kneading was so stress relieving, I actually lost a couple times because I was getting carried away.  Really fun and so well thought out with the repairs, upgrades of not just the turrets but the bakery as well.

I particularly like tower defense and I found this one very fun, the mechanic of having to repair the towers gives a very cool dynamic, I particularly didn't like them wearing out even when not shooting, but it didn't bother me, I still found it very cool and I loved making cookies as if I were a cat kneading bread

Loved it!

Very impressed in how you theme a tower defense in way that is non violent towards the animals and play on their attention deficit. Seems to me that some breeds were easier to distract than others which is wise.

The cookies mechanic was so well done, the game force me to keep having to balance my cookie making and invest on reparing and provisioning new distractions. Well done!

Very nice! Love the tower defense angle. Is there a way to tell the range on your towers that I'm missing? It's hard to be confident in where I place them at the moment. Great visuals too!

Really high quality submission! The gameplay mechanics are really sophisticated, and there's a surprising amount of depth to the game. Beneath the really cute & funny presentation (the pun on biscuits is really funny!), there's a good strategy game with a demanding actions-per-minute count - you're never lacking for something to do! There are some tuning issues, but balancing is difficult & I wouldn't expect anyone to nail it during a jam. But something to consider if the game ever gets a full release, which it potentially deserves! Well done!

Really cute game with a cool core mechanic of money = health. It was more stressful than other tower defense games because the usual downtime is replaced by the baking minigame, but in a good way.

I had some bugs though. The towers showed a price to upgrade past level3 and played the sfx when pressed, but nothing happened. Also the ending didn't show up, I got to wave 11/10 and no more dogs were spawning, but the ending that I heard praised in other comments here never showed. I played in browser and lost a few times before, and then pressed the "Skip all" button, maybe that messed something up?

Overall amazing game though!

I'm also curious what your experience was working in such a big team, it sounds like a nightmare to coordinate.

Thanks for sharing the bugs! We're planning  a post jam patch, so it's really helpful. It also seems that our last bug fix broke the ending, so it wasn't you clicking the skip button that triggered it! We've added a link to a youtube video of the ending to the game's description in case you've got a burning curiosity to see what you missed. And yeah, the team size took a little bit of coordinating, but it actually went pretty smoothly! We did get really lucky that everyone on the team was great about communication, and we had pretty frequent meetings to make sure we were all on the same page along with a kanban board to keep track of who was handling what. I could see it going a lot worse if everyone wasn't so on top of things, or if we weren't so responsive of discord.

I enjoyed the game overall, it was a very fun concept and tie in between cats and dogs. Especially the making biscuits as a cat animation was very fun. The audio was nice and on theme, felt like it made sense, though there could have been too much barking? Maybe not, i was in the zone.

I did seem to encounter a rounding bug i assume where the cost was 11, i seemed to have 11 but i couldn't buy the upgrade (until i had more biscuits, then it worked.

Overall i had fun, but here are some ideas on how to improve! I would like a better distinction between waves, i thought i was still in the tutorial or wave 1 but then i look up and it was wave 5. I didn't realize this was a health is currency type game until I died, so having this mechanic be more clear in the tutorial, maybe a dog comes up and there are no defense, takes biscuit and animated health going down. when i died i just restarted which felt rash, would be nice for it to be more of a pause - oh no u died, try again, type thing

Lastly, i liked the kneading biscuits type thing to make the currency and i like that is was a spend the biscuits, get low on health but go upgrade to be stronger, but i did not really enjoy the kneading minigame after 20 seconds. something more dynamic would be fun! very chill tower defense, nice work team!

Thank you so much for leaving us such detailed feedback! Not being able to spend all of your biscuits was intentional- we didn't want the player to be able to spend all of their dough themselves and cause a game over. We definitely need to rework the tutorial to make the hp = currency mechanic more clear.  I also really appreciate the feedback on the minigame - we went back and forth a TON the first half of the jam about how difficult to make it. We wanted to thread the needle of it being fun to play, while not taking your attention so far away from the tower defense aspect that it feels unfair or purposefully hard to play. All in all we have our fair share of stuff to fix in the post jam patch, but I'm glad you were able to enjoy the game and get in the zone anyway!

Ah i see, in that case. i think it could make more sense where you could go to 0 biscuits, but if the dog comes while you have 0 biscuits you insta-die, but i could see it going either way. as for the minigame, i think it would feel more enjoyable overall if you had to do minigame to start the baking process (maybe 3 to 5 seconds) then it auto baked cookies for an additional period of time so the player can go do other things, spend resources, repair, or you could look to add in other things for the player to do. on top of that the mini game could have varying difficulty for that short period of time, resulting in lower or higher amounts of cookies baked.

still fun and nice work!

I'm not usually a tower defense gamer, but this was actually pretty fun. I wish there were a faster way to close the build/repair menu, but either way, I enjoyed making biscuits! The music was cute but a bit loud and I couldn't turn it down, but I figure that's a later fix.

Really Impressive Game..At First i Couldn't Figure out What to do In The Bake Area i Thought it Was Just An Animation, But Later Figured That We Were Supposed To Perfect Time Press it...(>w<)..

Cool game, I liked the concept of money and lives being connected and also the paying for good plots is a nice touch. I did find the game very unforgiving, if you place one tower in a bad spot its GG, but maybe just a skill issue on my part. I think if there was a sell feature then it would feel more my fault and you'd potentially be able to come back for a little mess up.

Looks lovely and great concept! Pace could do with some improving but the bones of a great game are here

Submitted(+2)

It could be a bit more faster but the overall game idea was fun and catchy.

Awesome idea! I love the game’s concept! The idea of using your health as currency fits the theme perfectly.

Lovely game and fantastic ending - you captured my likeness perfectly!!   Well done, I love the concept and it fits perfectly with the theme.

I'm glad you liked the ending, it was one of my favorite parts to make! Thank you for playing!

Developer

It was my favorite part to work aswell! hehe

The dogs and their walk were so cute! I wish the speed of the baking mini game was faster.

I like the health as money mechanic, not seen it done before

I really enjoy tower defense games so I enjoyed the game. The gameplay of juggling between baking cookies and creating new towers are satisfying but I wish it were more challenging.
