The mouse idea is super cute! However, certain aspects made the game more difficult and a bit frustrating than necessary.
For example, some of the hitboxes felt oversized or the camera zooms in too much so i had to encounter some blind jumps.
But despite these points, the art style gives the game a lot of charm and I enjoyed playing it.
I like this game, I find this game fun and I find the artstyle very fitting, but in the main menu there are no settings, that are controls, it is a minor detail but I find it very crucial, because if you say you have settings and I want to change something in those and then see that are the controls I am unhappy and I kind of feel lied to (this is probably a bit to strong worded but I think you get what I mean).
Besides that at the start of the level you can hold just D and you will have no problems at all, at some point I have no idea how to progress, because I either miss the feather and die or I hit the feather and die by smashing my head against a platform. I think it would be very helpful in that situation if the camera would be more zoomed out so I can prepare better for that part.
The game is very nice and a bit frustrating. Love the artstyle.
This was a pretty fun game, frustrating aswell because of the zoomed in camera, but the design was cute and I did really like it!
I first thought the mouse is an Hamster or an mini bear. and i would maybe make the cheese a bit Brighter. but the Game is overall pretty okay you can have fun with it and also sometimes kind of frustrating its the charm of it that keep you goin.
I think the mouse running on the wheel of cheese is cute and was conveyed very well by the artwork. The gameplay itself is, as many others have noted as well, really frustrating because you can not see where you are going.
The concept is really neat. Thanks to the acceleration and deceleration mechanics, the game feels more controllable than Geometry Dash. There were a few technical issues – for example, the game froze once, and one run ended unexpectedly – but overall, it’s a very enjoyable experience.
I like the idea of the mouse and the cheese. The game quickly became frustrating because of the blind jumps.
The general Idea is pretty nice, but the gameplay is very frustrating. You could zoom the Camera a bit more out so that the player can see where he will land. Easy fix. But overall, it's a cool game.
I like playing the "one more try" games. It is difficult but you have to know the level. Though the camera distance was too small. It feels unfair to die because of this. I like the Idea that you have to move but it feels weird mid air. In my Mind I go either as slow as possible to feel safe or as fast as possible to have the maximum outcome. In Flappy Bird you are forced to move as well but you control how high or low you fly. This gives an even better (illusion?) of controlling the character.
I do find the idea cute with the mouse, but tehre are some things holding the game back.
It was still fun playing tho!
I found the game to be rather difficult, which I usually enjoy, but it feels very punishing to play. Because you are airborn at almost all times, you can never see where you land, as the camera is very close to the player. This can work if the player is able to see whats in front of them, but this is not the case here, often resulting in unavoidable deaths. I like the concept of not being able to completely stop, but I think instead of the player instantly dying when touching the sides of a wooden platform or a puddle of mud, you could make it so the player dies if they can't keep up with the camera scrolling.
I also think the artwork could use a little more polishing, the cheesewheel deserves a little bit more love as it is the most important asset in your game, other than that some audio would've been nice.
I know this sounds like a lot of criticism, but I actually had a lot of fun playing the game! ^^
I think the idea of collecting nuts is very cute. But jumping takes some getting used to, and because the camera is so small, it's hard to see what's below you. (I don't know if that's how it's supposed to be.)
I still think your initial idea had a much more streamlined and simple design approach. I feel like you added a lot of mechanics and interactions back into your game, because you already knew how to implement them. This did not benefit the design. I would like to encourage you to try doing something new during these jams. It's ok to fail or not to be sure if some game play idea will work out in the end. Jams are learning experiences and this is all par for the course. Kudos for pulling through and finishing this game though, good job!
i feel like the game would benefit from a bit more consistency once for the art to make it all look more connected as well for the level desgin, some sections feel too unreadable to play
