This game is really cool. I like the Idea of the game, the gameplay felt nice and intuitive and the art style is my favourite of the submissions
das Spiel ist nicht schlecht, die Steuerung ist nicht sofort klar, aber ich kann ein sehr schönes Design erkennen
I really enjoyed the game. The art style is particularly impressive. I quickly understood the controls, although the reload, which is also on space, sometimes caused the bombs to go off too early. The narrative could of course go further (especially in relation to reality) but for the time frame it's a fantastic game.
I enjoyed how it looked like. The idea is really fun , though I do have to say I have some trouble with getting the dynamite and letting it explode. It would have helped if it wasn't both on space.
I think the art style is really cool and inspiring. It quickly became clear what I had to do. However, there's no clear goal for me to pursue. There's a timer that counts up, which makes me feel like I have infinite time, which took away a bit of my motivation. I think it would have been a good idea to have the timer count down to give the player a bit more pressure.
i really really like the artstyle in this game. it looks so good. The only thing i have to say is that, i dont think there is a catch in this game. All i have to do is to press the same button two times. I think you could make it more enjoyable. For example you could make the fish attack the boat, to make it a bit more difficult for the player to hit the bombs or whatever.
(just an idea)
Cool idea, fun game. I like the artstyle. Overall a nice game.
I find the message of the game strong, especially for a Jam game and I like that you made a game to spread awareness of bomb fishing.
I also very like that the artstyle is so innocent while the gameplay, if translated to reality, is very dark. The music supports the art direction, which I very like.
All in all a very strong game, especially for the time limit of the Jam.
I love the artstlye of it, which already lets it seem like it's a finished game, the music was great aswell. To the concept, I really liked the "bomb the fish"-mechanic, but I would love for the fish to have some kind of animation when they die.
The Idea is really cool, I liked to bomb away the Fish, also the Art style looks really good and Polished but i would like a bit more sounds in it or music.
The art makes it feel like it is already a finished and published game. It's really beautiful. I also like your choice of music as it fits the vibe of catching fish on a sunny day just interrupted by some casual explosions. The controls where a bit confusing in the first few seconds but I could get the hang of it pretty fast.
Not much I can say that others haven't already.
The art is delightful in its colours, feel and fidelity, even if the controls glitching off the screen is a little distracting.
The idea, while I've seen it before, certainly fits the theme and is definitely uncommon enough to be a selling point.
Audio, well you did more than we did, the music is calm and I don't see it becoming obnoxious even after playing for a while.
I believe the narrative could have gotten a little more out of it, the only thing we get, is that apparently fishing with bombs is common enough for, at least some, fishing vessels to have dedicated bomb ports, reserving the net for bringing them in I suppose? Seems rather inefficient, but what the hell, it's a fun game.
Finally, I'll join the others in saying that the controls are somewhat clunky. I like having to hold space to drop and determine detonation distance, but also having to press space to reload does often cause me to accidentally drop a bomb early and missing out on an opportunity, which causes some frustration. I believe simply putting it on a small timer would be a more elegant solution, plus you could pair it with sound design and have these delightful mechanical noises that autoloaders often have. (To be fair that last part is very much personal preference).
All that to say, you've all done a great job in this short a time and Bombing Fish is amongst my favourites of this jam.
I really admire the design. It just looks wonderful. The controls are very simple, but the spacebar was sometimes buggy. The only thing missing was content. Maybe a goal or something else. Still, a very impressive game.
I love the art style. The fish, the boat, everything. I also find the concept very interesting. I kind of don't like that I have to press space to get a bomb. I would prefer it if it came automatically. But overall, I'm a huge fan.
Love the game, its cozy, Chill, and fun. The control with space could need some work, but overall, I have nothing bad to say.
Kudos to the art department! Everything looks beautiful!
Now gameplay its really simple and easy to understand but it does get boring after a few minutes of playing. If there was an incentive for the player to strategize, like limiting their ammo or getting rewarded when hitting a special type of fish, it would definitely improve it as now there would be something for the player to "get better at".
I am a huge fan of the artwork, I think you guys did a really great job regarding that! But gameplay wise it leaves a lot to be desired. The game is neither challenging, nor gives the player any incentive to keep playing for more than a minute. I think an easy way you could solve this issue is by giving the player only a limited amount of ammo and a certain score they have to beat in a set amount of time, if each fish were to give the player a different score, there would be actual strategy involved in throwing your dynamite. But the way it is right now, I unfortunately did not enjoy playing it very much.
I think the idea is silly and has a lot of potential though :)
It's a very relaxing game and looks really cute. I think it gets a bit boring after a while.
I really like the artwork. Plus, the game jam theme has been implemented really well. One problem I see with the game is that it doesn't really have much replay value. At a certain point, you simply can't get any more fish or points because the spawn is capped and the time runs out. When playing, I usually didn't get more than 35 to 40 points, and only in rare cases was I able to break 40, even though I caught all the spawned fish. All in all, though, the game is good. You've done a great job.
Love the pixel art! The Jam fisher boat and the fish are so pretty, the only issue I had at first was understanding how to drop the explosives, but that's on my part.
