The visuals are great! I didn't quite understand the mechanics, with it working sometimes and not working others, but still a pretty cute game!
Loved thinking through the ways to expand through the map. Good stuff! Keep making awesome games!
Very fun and cozy game! I feel like i could get lost in planning the ultimate one shot expansion across the entire map.
I do have a slight accessibility concern with the tree colors as they are kind of the same detail and brightness level. Someone with varying kinds or levels of color blindness may have trouble seeing the difference between the red and green trees.
The VOD is linked below, and will be available for 60 days:

Thanks so much for playing! Was really interesting watching you play through it and really highlights areas for improvement in the tutorials and other bits of gameplay!
That massive chain was fantastic to watch :D
Great point about the colour blindness accessibility - I will give my palette a run through a contrast checker for any future updates I make!
Absolutely loved the game! The intro was a warm welcome. I think we've has a similar approach to the theme but your take is way more relaxing and polished. Great game!
Chilly, amusing game! Music is really well match for the game
Perfect for autumn evenings to recover after work :D
I really like how you polished the game, intro is well design probably the best from all games here, amazing!
Not sure but do you generate levels on fly?
Great job and congratulations on your submission!
Thank you very much! I put quite a lot of time into the vibe and I’m glad so many people are enjoying it :)
You’re right! Each “run” is a new perlin noise map that the tiles are generated from!
This game is truly phenomenal, I absolutely adored the pixel art and music, they both worked SO well together to make a trully peaceful and charming experience. The idea itself was also very good and creative. The gameplay also felt really nice! Here's a bit of feedback:
1. The mouse button felt a little confusing at first, since I didn't know where I would actually click every time I clicked the mouse, if that makes sense. At first, I thought it would be in the center, so I was clicking on a tree I wanted to expand to and it wouldn't work, after some trial and error I figured out that the click was positioned at the tip of the mouse, and that made the experience much better.
2. Consider implementing a drag mode for the endless mode. Sometimes I just felt like dragging the leaves all across the map and spread leaves to my heart's content, but I couldn't really create that effect all the way without a way to drag the autumn vibes to all the trees (maybe I should have mushroom spammed more to be honest).
3. Lastly, the zoom felt a little delayed. Whenever I would zoom in, it would take a while for it to actually react to my input, so it felt a little slow compared to the other feedback I was receiving from the other buttons and actions.
Overall this was a really great experience, congrats on greating a fantastic game!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you had a nice time with it :)
That’s great feedback, thank you! I definitely want to introduce hover highlighting so you know which tree you’re interacting with.
I hadn’t considered the drag interaction but it’s a great idea! Will have a play around with that for the endless mode, I think that’d be very fun!
Yeah I think I went a little overboard with the easing and kind of slapped it everywhere XD Still haven’t landed on my preferred zoom solution so it’s great to get some feedback on it so I can do some more iteration!
The music is everything :)
Well done!
Thank you! :) So glad you enjoyed it!
Pretty music :D and the game felt very polished with it's opening panning animation + title card sequence. I played on trackpad which made the zooming in and out a little difficult, and the first time I loaded up the game it froze on a leaf but wasn't able to reproduce so maybe just a browser issue. I really enjoyed the satisfying and soothing sound/color-change of chain reactions , great job with this!
Very glad you enjoyed it! :D
Trackpad input is definitely on my list of things to work on in the future! Haven’t seen that issue with the freezing leaf before - if you can remember anything about what you were doing at the time or would be happy to share what browser you’re using that’d be super helpful for future debugging!
I tried reproducing again but not successful. I'm on chrome and I think the only thing that I might have done was press spacebar or click the screen once the intro animation ended? I figure if no one else ran into this then it could be a good chance that it's just a me issue!
fantastically cozy, and very creative. big fan of the music as well, fits perfectly
Thank you so much :) So glad you enjoyed the vibe!
Very relaxing game with a cozy atmosphere! I especially loved the music.
Thank you so much! :)
beautifully crafted game, the music makes you feel home, I see great musical talents in this jam :)
By now I think everything is said about this game, and I agree with all of it.
I just have a thing that I didn't understand, if you place a mushroom over a pine, the pine disappear, is this intented? if it is, what are pines for? just "decoration"?
good entry! :)
Thanks for the kind words :) Really glad you enjoyed the music!
So the pine thing is not intentional, the pines came in later and I intended them as a kind of blocker that can’t be turned so have to be worked around. In my haste, I forgot to add them to the check when a mushroom is placed as the other trees are!
That’s going in the bug log!
Relaxing, almost like popping bubble wrap.
Nice stuff! I zoned out for a good 5-10 just tapping trees, kinda what i needed after work today.
Definitely two routes for the future of this: a puzzle game where you have to try to turn an area of trees in a given number of turns and a chill mode where you can just go nuts!
Very glad you had a relaxing time with the latter idea! :D
I echo the comments: amazing atmosphere, cozy vibes with the music and art! Took me a few runs to form ideas as to what the branch meter was on top (you made it nice and okay to restart the run, nice!). Then to understand how to use the mushrooms and plan ahead. Planting mushrooms as ways to replace pine trees was cool as well! Congratulations on an amazing entry!
Thank you! :) Really glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and managed to figure out how things were working!
Definitely need to do some refining on the guidance and perhaps a more gradual and deliberate intro to the controls.
its all cool! Your instructions were really good! Just wanted to share my perspective on how thigs were.
Loved everything about the aesthetic! Music & Art worked really well togetherto create a cozy autumn vibe!
The gameplay on the other hand wasn't it for me. Even when hitting a chain reaction via the mushrooms it didn't feel too rewarding for me!
Still quite liked it! Good Job :)
Thanks for playing! I’m really glad you enjoyed the vibe :)
Would be curious to hear your thoughts on the gameplay - there’s definitely room for it to improve!
What would make it more satisfying for you? I’ve got the following ideas for improvements, but would love to hear if you had any other thoughts while playing
The mushroom chain reaction was genuinely quite satisfying. You nailed the cosy autumn vibes and the music helped that a lot, was a real pleasure to just chill and play this!
So glad you enjoyed it - cosy and satisfying was exactly what I was going for! Thanks so much for your kind words :)
You absolutely nailed it then :) you’re very welcome!
Hitting a mushroom chain for the first time is very satisfying. Good job! :)
Thank you! I spend a decent amount of time trying to make it feel impactful when you got a good run - glad it felt satisfying to do :)
I like chaining mushroom reaction! You have a really nice intro too.
Thank you! :) Glad you enjoyed the mushrooms!
Love the idea, though I got stuck because I couldn’t pan. Would be nice to include remapping controls for folks using a trackpad. I tried clicking on mushrooms to collect them, but I nothing seemed to happen. Maybe I missed something. Impressive performance on the web. Was fun to zoom out and see how big everything was. I hoped when I zoomed back in it would be centered on my mouse, but no luck.
Support for trackpads is definitely something I need to consider more in the future - completely slipped my mind this time round. Sorry that it wasn’t as good of an experience as it could have been
Got lots of feedback to take away around the controls which is great - next time hopefully I can make something that works for a wider set of input methods!
Very cozy, I love the guitar track. The visuals and audio were really relaxing.
Took me a minute to understand how the game worked, but once I got it I had fun trying to maximize my spread. I do wish there was a moment to examine the end result before the game ends when you run out of leaves, though.
The inclusion of endless mode was also really nice.
Thank you! :) Glad you managed to get your head round it and found the endless mode!
Love the idea of viewing how far you’ve come before you reset, that’s going in the pile of potentials for the future for sure!
This is just stellar. Turning Leaves hits the Autumn theme so precisely I had to double check my calendar just to be sure!
A brilliant, minimalist introduction unfolds like a gentle breeze. The gradual expansion from tutorial to gameplay is underscored by a the most gentle guitar riff. You can hear faint whispers in the trees ebbing and flowing. The dulcet tones of an organ accompany this cozy bed of sound, softly gluing it all together. Masterful.
The game has been discussed past my ability to provide anything new. But the sound. Man, what a treat. It’s wonderful to see another game in this jam respect audio to this degree. It’s the only thing I can contribute after all!
Thank you for this. I’ll just have Turning Leaves open for a while if you don’t mind.
Thank you so much :’) I’m so glad you enjoyed all the noises! I was a musician and audio tech person before I got into programming so sound is really close to my heart
This is probably the first track I’ve written that’s actually made it out of a DAW and into the world too so I’m super pleased that it’s gone down well :)
Now it all makes sense. I was kinda blown away hearing such a carefully crafted soundstage from a solo developer. It probably matters to me a lot more than most, but when I hear audio treated with respect, everything else surrounding it feels levels more polished. I guess it’s because i’ve seen too many projects that treat it as an afterthought. Who knows? Regardless, your love for the auditory adds a level of refinement that just can’t be attained otherwise. Of course, you’ve done an excellent job on everything else! But I’m way more qualified to talk about sound lol.
Getting that first song out there into the world is incredibly daunting for sure. You do need to wait for the right time and moment, or your confidence can be shot forever! Safe to say that’s exactly what you’ve done here. I can imagine that finding the right balance with this track was a tricky one. Can’t be too involved or it’ll detract from the gameplay, too soft and it gets boring quick. You’ve done an excellent job at walking that tightrope, so kudos for that!
Had Turning Leaves open in another tab this whole time btw, can’t bring myself to close it!
