Awesome submission! I really love the sounds and graphics in this game, in particular the sound of mushrooms popping up and the particles that the mushrooms emitted were such a nice touch :) . It wasn't clear to me if there was a way to lose but honestly didn't know if there needed to be since as is the game feels very cozy and soothing. I wasn't able to figure out how to use different mushrooms like in one of your screenshots so feel sad about missing out on that! But overall really great job and polished looking game! and if you continue working on this think it'd be really cool to see more forest wildlife/happenings occur along with the mushrooms!

This game is stunning. I use a trackpad so camera wasn't great for me but do think the controls work well generally. I think I needed a bit more clarity on the tutorial but got the hang of the overall loop. I think its fantastically polished for a jam entry.

wow, this one's on my top list now, impresive work, really, very polished, my mos sincere congrats.

It took me one run to understand what was happening (but then I saw the "health change" stat at the end of a day i nmy second run, and it all made sense, so, it's my fault I think hahah. I don't know how you came up that formula you used to calculate it but I think it's a really clever one, that balances very well the game, not very forgiving, not very strict. you really got a sweet nice point.

I would ask for one thing only: when you are hovering a tile it would be nice to know "what" is that tile, maybe this is also my fault, but sometimes it was unclear to me (again, just a petition from a pleased gamer ).

the ambiance sound/music also is a very good point for me. And really I think there's not much more to say.

congrats!!

I can't post my stats because of the size of the comments, but I'm really proud of them :)

Really enjoyed the vibe you have going here, The little tableau / game area is genuinly inviting in a cozy way.
I think your camera controls were extremely well done, It felt intuitive and responsive to move around the enviroment.

The sounds from placing 'yer little mushrooms gave me a nice lil dopamine hit everytime and the backing track was very nice too!
I wasn't entirely sure what the stats meant at the end of each day, i understood the basics of likes/dislikes, but wasn't reeeeally sure how it attributed to winning or losing? Could be i skimmed past the part explaining it, because you did have a pretty substantial and well presented tutorial, which i found impressive for such a short time frame.

Nice job both, looks good, polished and feels responsive.

This was very lovely and very cozy!  It felt great to pick out a slice of the map to try to expand into and cover it all up.  The music was very soothing and looped very well.  Overall great job!

A few observations:

  1. It's a little hard to predict where the mushrooms will end up.  Some parts of the colony can end up nice and packed, while other parts felt very sparse and spread out.
  2. There doesn't seem to be an indication of the win condition in the tutorial.

This feels like a very complete package for a jam game. The practice level was a great idea—it helped me get comfortable before diving in. I also liked that you can name your colony, which gives the experience a personal touch. The visuals and animations are top-notch, and overall it feels polished enough that I could imagine seeing it on Steam with some additional content.

The controls are smooth and intuitive, especially the rotation and panning of the world. I especially like the idea of different mushroom types having their own playstyles—it adds variety and makes each run feel fresh.

While playing, I thought of a few ideas that could make the game even deeper. For example, dynamic events like a flood, a dead creature, or even another colony could spice things up. Windy days could also add strategy—you’d see the wind’s direction and decide whether to sacrifice some mushrooms so their spores are carried to another part of the map. Another idea is a creature that eats your mushrooms, which could be countered with a poison mushroom type that turns the creature into a corpse for your colony to consume.

I know these aren’t simple to implement, but given what you achieved in just a week, I believe you’d be able to handle complex ideas—if you decide to continue with this project, of course!

Good job guys! Very cosy and calming game you've made. I particularly enjoyed the small details you included like being able to name your mushrooms, the forest sound effects, animated day/night cycle and the visual effect on top of the expanding mushrooms. The panning controls are also very good, i like that you can fully rotate the world. If you take the game further i think maybe adding to the strategy element would make it more engaging. Maybe being able to unlock more of the map or being able to plant multiple mushroom types would be cool? Anyways welldone! i enjoyed it :))

This game is a great experience. The guitar music is excellent and perfectly complements the atmosphere. The gameplay system is well designed, intuitive, and fun to play with. Overall, it’s a beautiful piece of work and very enjoyable.

Absolutely stunning work. Ambergrove manages to distil the entire feeling of Autumn into a single glance. From the amber lighting to the stylised foliage and chunky mushroom forms, the aesthetic direction is both elegant and warm, like a mushroom fairy tale told through an isometric lens. The soft palette makes the whole screen feel cohesive without becoming bland, and the grid subtly guides the eye without distracting from the visual clarity. The UI is clean and minimal, but still playful, with just the right level of detail for a game that encourages thoughtful interaction. Really charming use of spacing and colour hierarchy too.

Thematically, this one is right on the money. The jam’s focus on ‘Expansion’ is beautifully represented through the slow, deliberate growth of your mushroom colony, and the way the landscape reacts to your choices over time. The ‘Autumn’ theme runs deep too, not just in colour, but in mood. There’s a sense of peaceful decay and quiet strategy, like watching a forest floor breathe. Easily one of the more tranquil takes in the jam, and one that’s stuck in my head a bit since playing. Very different tempo to my own entry, which makes me appreciate the restraint here all the more.

Awesome concept! Love that every object in the scene serves purpose in the gameplay loop, and that you can mix things up for extra challenge by picking other mushroom families.

Big fan of the art too, like the unique detail in each tree and the day/night cycle. Inspires me to try 3D someday haha

Overall had a nice relaxing time, and major props for making the game open source :)

i'm so glad you liked it! yea we really wanted to make the most of the "single location" so making it work that way was one way of doing that. you should try 3d! it's not as hard as you might think (at least from a code perspective)

i'm glad you appreciate the open sourcing, despite how terribly organised our code base ended up 😭

Submitted(+1)

At a glance the structure looks better than mine, haha. I enjoy the chaos during a jam though, the lack of organization is kind of freeing.

Yeah, it's the modelling / meshing that feels daunting. It's nice to see that it's possible to make something really beautiful and cohesive by combining simple shapes with a nice color palette. I'll do some practicing, and maybe next time! :D

I really love the art and the vibes! Also a great take on the theme. I always enjoy seeing the actual formula that is used for points in games, so kudos for that!

Developer

thanks so much! we're the same, i much prefer seeing how what i'm doing affects things directly

Very nice and relaxing! Love the solo guitar music and calming nature of everything.

Developer(+1)

thanks so much! the chord progression i'm playing on the guitar is actually from the song autumn leaves, as a little autumnal bonus :)

Explains why it sounds so familiar. Nicely done.

Really adorable game! As less experience developer that stick to 2D games, a 3D game looks amazing! Just great visual effects combine with chill music make game relaxing! Just had some good time with game. Applause for artists!

As i understand game is chilly game, maybe pace is a little to slow, much time is needed to conquer whole map. That could be my perspective, i am rather person who likes fast pace games.

Full tutorial is well implemented, that something you won't expect from jam game! Cool!

Just great job and congratulations on your submission!

Developer

thanks so much for playing and for the nice feedback!! i agree it is a pretty chill game, defo not for everyone but we were defo aiming for a more cosy vibe :) glad u still liked it!

Fun take on the expansion theme. I appreciated the tutorial as I was a little lost what was going on. It was a lot of text though, so I think I missed the explanation of needing to last 7 days. I thought the goal was to get to the end of the path, which funny enough I got to at the 7 day mark. The sounds were really satisfying and I thought the visuals really lent itself well to a calm vibe. The only thing that felt like it detracted was all the text and number crunching. Really liked the visual effect of the end of the day!

Developer

thanks for playing and for the helpful feedback!! it's never actually mentioned in the tutorial that you need to last to 7 days, we added that pretty late but i think it was maybe a mistake. when most people play it seems like the intuitive goal is just to spread all over the map as much as possible. given more time i think it would have been better to make it harder and harder to survive so you just reach a natural end, but alas.

also we really struggled to balance the tutorial and explaining how stuff works with keeping it concise, i was worried it might be hard to understand how what you're doing is affecting your health but maybe should have just kept it more vibes based.

again thanks for checking it out and im glad you liked it!!

I played this before going to sleep, and I have to say this was a really calming experience. The music, the ambient sounds, the art, colors and game mechanics were all designed to trigger relaxation in the player. I conquered the whole map with my bark mushroom, and now I'm going to sleep. Good job, and good night.

Developer

thanks so much for the kind words!! so glad you enjoyed it :))
