How does your game fit the theme?
set in a barren desert myPALS tells the story of THE LAST cat on earth. As he journeys to save the souls of his 5 friends, he deals with ideas like loss and moving on. (my team created all art and music)
Did your team create the vast majority of the art during the 4 days?
Yes

Hollow Knight: Cat Song
This music is dissonant and not my cup of tea. It seemed promising at first due to the unique visual style, but the pacing and text are just everywhere... This could've been a great game (kinda like that indie game journey, where you wander through a lone desert, and it hits in the feels at the right moments). Sadly, for now, it's unrealized potential, because the game just plasters everything at you at once without understanding the importance of pacing a story.
I love the bouncy, squishy art style for the cat, and I loved playing this game
Very solid submission right here. The music is very eerie, but I am sure that is the intent behind it - so good job ^^. You had the time to implement the coyote time, which is always a big deal for platforming. I also really like the idea of the head of the character being detached from the body. It does make for more interesting death scenes with little work. Also not sure if intended, but I do really like how you can grab a ledge with your head.
The art style is quite nice, and I do enjoy the combat system, it's very enjoyable
wow, im in love with the style of this one! the music, visuals, and story all came together to make a really cool experience. just wish there was a bit more to the gameplay, but i didn't really mind cuz i was just jamming to the music the whole time!
Ok I love the intro scene XD. I thought I was in for a horror game. But unlike what others are saying it was very frustrating for me. I think this is because the game was laggy for me for some. But I couldn't get the timing of the arrows and just had to resort to holding down click and because of the lag I was having platforming became really hard for me to nail right. All in all awesome work!
sadly i couldn't get a really optimized build due to hardware limitations (i have 8 gb of ram). though it runs smoothly on every single device I've tested. sorry to hear that
I dig the style, although I thought it would be an horror game on the start haha.
Even though the game mechanics are pretty solid, the levels got a bit easy for me. As soon as I figured out that standing still while blocking takes out the enemy attacking, just being methodical in mechanics sadly made it a bit less interesting.
That being said, I did enjoy the story part of it, and the character dialogue made me chucke a couple of times. The head of the main character not being attached to the body, and the animation of it spinning around was a great touch!
I’m glad you liked the story! It was a lot of fun writing it. I had to remove a bunch of harder levels because I really didn’t want any one to rage quit which while play testing happened a lot. If it was a full release I would definitely add a lot more content. Cheers!
banger of a game. music is interesting, art is interesting, hard to pay attention to the story though because of evading the rain of arrrows.
yea i didn’t really think that one through it suck when you are almost done a cutscene and suddenly die.
Nice touch for not allowing to skip the intro cutscene (im sure Connor would like this)
In terms of control, would love that both arrow keys and WASD are used to move the player
yea hopefully he can voice over this game if we get this in the top 20. I would love to see his reactions to the story!
I love a lot about this game. The music is especially nice to listen to. Very chill, I can see myself just vibing to it.
The art style, especially the main characters is very funny, and it has some weird effects in-game as well. The also really enjoy the dialogues.
I enjoy the opening scene and the camera effects and everything, although it's dragged out a bit long at the title screen. I also found it a bit weird because you can actually move and play the game while the opening scene is going on.
With all that being said, it's really regrettable for me that the actual gameplay is a bit uninteresting compared to the rest of the game. Some really easy platforming and easy combat.
If you can apply your skills to more interesting game designs, I think it could shine much better.
glad you like the game! I appreciate the feedback and not just saying "GREAT GAME!" (although i do appreciate that too) I am much more interested in music, story and art more than actually programming. Sadly, my partner is even less technical than I am, so I was forced to focus on my weaknesses rather than making a beautiful sound track or designing characters. Next time It'll be even better!
the visual effects are STUNNING :D !!!!!!! nice work!
Dig the unique zany art style good job
Fun quirky little game. Love the spinning cat head. ^.^
really fun game i did struggle, a bit with what i had to do at some points. but i found it really fun and love the cat or timmy head going around.
Absolute cinema! XD
Its really charming, it is a little clunky sometimes, but it has so much style and charm that it doesn't matter. Probably the most memorable one I have played so far. Extra points for the bouncing cat head
working with a bunch of rigid bodies inevitably causes a bunch of issues tho for the bouncy head it was worth the pain and suffering tuning the values
Cute game, really fun music and art style and vibe :)
The whole feel of the game is really nice. Kinda love the wobbly character lol Just took me a few tried to get the timing right for deflecting, my reflexes definitely didn't kick in fast enough sometimes 😂
