fantastic job, quite a "heavy" setting but also very relevant message for the time and age we find ourselves in.  great job on this one, I will not forget that stare for a long while!

The story is nice, but I wish it was a scary game

I like the first sentence we can read in your game : "Humanity is long gone, wiped out by the AI it once created." LMAO ! This is unfortunately a wise prophecy.

I love the aesthetics, it really feels oppressing. And the music is very well chosen (it doesn't start directly on the web build, only on the desktop build ; I need to click somewhere to start it).

You used the theme very well. The tricks that you had to explain are clever ; without your hints, we would have needed to think out of the box, which is difficult under the watch of our modern Big Brother. We're so used to get a high score or to collect candies like everyone else, when suddenly : "Oooah, what are all those things doing here ? Why are they bouncing all around and attacking me ? They are too many, THIS IS INSANE !!!"

3 small things, though :

- the footsteps SFX is not synced with the character's actual steps. In Godot's animation timeline, you can ask to play a sound on a specific frame, which is useful in your case (works well, I did it in an unpublished project).

- in other infinite runners, pressing left or right makes the characters directly jump on the adjacent line. Here we need more time, but since there are obstacles to dodge, it's not a big problem.

- I had to ALT + F4 Windows's build to end it, as it's in real full screen with no cross. An exit button is missing (like in my game, actually).

That's a good game ! Well done !

... Man, this cat is scary ! It will haunt my nights !

...

And there's a New Game + ? Wow ! I didn't understand it, but that's a great idea.

Thanks for playing and leaving a very detailed feedback!!

it doesn’t start directly on the web build, only on the desktop build ; I need to click somewhere to start it

Oh, yes. Another godot web build quirk. Not sure how to get around that. I have read something that you add a scene that says “click here to start” and after clicking you transition to the main menu. Not sure I like that solution.

the footsteps SFX is not synced with the character’s actual steps.

It’s supposed to be the sound of the mannequins marching. I didn’t want to animate them at all since that would cause serious lag, especially in the web build.

I had to ALT + F4 Windows’s build to end it, as it’s in real full screen with no cross. An exit button is missing (like in my game, actually).

Thank you for trying out the windows mode too. Perhaps it is not obvious, but the “Quit Game” button is in the options Menu under the credits button. Maybe not a very good design choice, but I wanted the player to click around (so they can read the quotes)

And there’s a New Game + ? Wow ! I didn’t understand it, but that’s a great idea.

Last thing I threw in, just an endless fun mode. Hope you enjoyed it!!

Hey — I just played The Haunted Library and had a great time! The atmosphere was eerie, and the puzzles kept me engaged. The art style really added to the spooky vibe. One suggestion: I found the lighting a bit dim in some areas, making it hard to spot clues. Maybe brightening those spots slightly could help. If you have a moment, I'd love for you to check out my game Hush Boy, Hush and drop a rating: /jam/gamedevtv-halloween-jam-2025/rate/3971977

Thanks so much and best of luck in the jam! 🎃

Nice game, First I was going for everything to pickup. coins, candies and televisions. took me a moment to realize that the score dropped after picking up candies. I also got way to slow towards the end, wasn't sure what was the reason of slowness. Also I didn't die to televisions before and then suddenly one television killed me.

Developer

Candy lowers your social credits and hitting the tv slows you down. When you come to a complete stop, you lose. If you get the hammer, you win.

Click here for spoiler To beat the game, collect coins until a candy appears. Then stop collecting coins and collect candies only. Once a hammer appears, stop collecting candies. Grab the hammer and you win!

Very cool. I also made an endless runner
- I liked the color palette.

- The game definitely had a unique vibe

- I was kinda confused that the candy reduces your score but then the tvs dont?

- It seems like you cant loose.

- I'd  add health and high score

- I might add a jump

Thanks for playing! Will try out your game later tonight.

Candy lowers your social credits and the tv slows you down. You lose when you come to a complete stop and you win when you get the hammer. If you get to the hammer, you will know why there’s no high score.

OOOOOOO okay missed that. thanks for clearing it up!

Interesting metaphor, great game. Have nothing to say, have to gain social credits, red eyes of the big brother still watching me.

Thanks for playing!

Have nothing to say, have to gain social credits,

Are you sure about that?

red eyes of the big browser still watching me.

Ah, I see. Carry on.

Submitted(+1)

Meant to say big brother, but mistyped. Maybe *big browser is even better.

That was refreshingly high concept. I enjoyed going in blind and getting tricked (repeatedly!)

Why's bro gotta be like that?

Edit: Found the extra mode!

Edit: Found the extra mode!

Awesome! I think some people just close out the game after finishing the run, so I’m glad you found it. Just a fun mode, hope you enjoyed it!

Loved 1984 and you captured the essence perfectly.  Who would ever have thought you could turn a story into a runner game for a Game Jam!

What an original concept!
If only I had thought of that!

If only we did not live in a world of doublethinking and alternative facts.  Sometimes I think Orwell wrote a how to manual for our leaders to follow.

Right? Ugh, hate to think about that…

Really fun game and great use of the theme! I love how youve managed to capture the dystopian feel with the colors and the music. The sound effects were also on point! It was also challenging enough, to keep my attention but not too challenging, so you hit the sweet spot perfectly! As a cat lover, i approve this :)

Thanks for playing!

As a cat lover, i approve this :)

Funny you say that because the cat is an evil looking one, and the final goal is to throw a hammer at it.

I actually didn't get the hammer, so the cats won in my run :D
