Hate to parrot what everyone else said but I do love the match mechanic.
Love the little hand and the overall environment
Would like to see you expand on this concept a little more!
cool game i realy liked the atmosphere and the Match Mechanic For light was realy cool the monster could have looked more scary
The Match Mechanic For Light Was Very Cool. The First Monster Was A Little Silly But Before Then The Horror Tone Was Set Well. Good Job.
Well done for a jam game! the tension building and quietness go together so well to create an atmosphere that you just don't want to be in. The match mechanic is also very cool and I'd compare it as the more creative equivalent to the flash light cutting off and on in any other PSX horror game where you have a flashlight as your light source. The note text mechanic was a little tricky to figure out at first because it took me a second to realize M1 probably meant mouse button 1 which would be left click. This game is very well polished for coming from a solo dev as well, great work!
I sweated bro. It gives the tension very well!
This game builds tension very well, I was scared most of the time playing, thanks to the sound design and atmosphere. The match mechanic was a very nice touch, though I wish they would've had more use other than being the light source. The first monster encounter really got me good. It could've used a scarier design to make the game even more terrifying, but I can still appreciate it.
Well done!
Really liked the retro PSX corridor vibe you’ve created here — the visuals set a cool mood right away. Would love to see the horror build a little more after the opening. Great concept and well done for the jam!
Cool game! The dark and scary environment works really well, and I really like the lighting match mechanic, it’s pretty unique. The tension builds up nicely too. Although I did run into a bug where I got stuck in an endless death loop. Other than that, it’s a solid start overall!
Great horror game. I really liked the mechanics of reading the notes visually. Separately, I want to praise the match mechanics, it's great for a small game, it doesn't have time to get bored, but the level of constant anxiety remains high. The main horror element is your sound design. Indeed, when playing a game, you need to play in the dark and with headphones on for the atmosphere.
Creepy game, I thought the idea with the match was brilliant. But I feel like it could be used even better. It's a shame that nothing happens for so long that you eventually just start lighting matches without thinking. When the monster appears, you realize that the match isn't much use anyway because of its short range. I think if a few things were changed here, it could be really awesome.
Definitely very spooky, The match mechanic is cool, and it was interesting how the light was still so dim I was sticking to the edges of the rooms like i was actually fumbling around in the dark. The tension build was very well executed, via the environment and letters, and when i finally encountered the monster i jumped and made a goofy sound lmao. That moment where you see the drawings right before things kick in was perfect. That said once i died a few times and the chase section had officially started, the tension deflated quickly, and spooky png's effect wore off pretty quick lol. That said, still a really well done game, and one of the few actual horror games I've seen which is nice, and keeping tension up consistently in games is often difficult. Great job!
Motherfucker, you got me–Haha! I was on edge the whole time so when the “tip” popped up, I was this close to exiting the page. Then I saw the dude who was skinning us and brother, I lost it.
Terrifying mechanics that had me freaking out the whole time. Probably one of the genuinely spooky games in this jame! Nice work!
Great mechanic! With more time you could make a pretty good game for sure 😎 Great submission
Really love the match mechanic, such a great horror game, felt a little scared each time the match wooshed away
Finally! A horror game in a horror game jam! It honestly felt like it took me five and a half minutes to get across every hallway.
Amazing work here! You managed to craft a very atmospheric and enjoyable experience, congrats! The only thing that could be better is the monster's design.
I admit, I laughed pretty hard when I saw it.
Keep up the good work!
The match mechanics are really cool, and the atmosphere is nicely spooky. Overall, a solid project.
Match relighting mechanic was super cool! Tough to navigate but I liked the atmosphere as well :)
