Absolutely loved the game. Every aspect of it was top-notch and felt polished. The ratings felt logical and I couldn’t wait to see what the newspaper reported the next day.
The only hitch was that I accidentally kept employing an animal after checking them out. The flow going something like: check an animal (needing to click), go click a job to check its description.. but that employed it, and checking the job was just a hover. A minor thing, it gave me some funny accidents, but could be fixed by making the “employ” action more clear.
Thanks for the game, it’s great!
Thank you for playing and for your feedback!
I've made an update I'll upload after the game jam is complete that allows the player to reassign animals the same day they were placed to mitigate accidental placements.
Very nice game with some solid ideas. Loved the announcement of days outcome by newspaper. Maybe the animals could have their past result cutouts archived next to their profiles.
Thank you for playing, and I appreciate the feedback! My post game jam update shows employment history for each animal in their profile.
Very cute graphics and a nice take on the theme. Putting in a leaderboard was also a good idea
It's funny that we had such a similar root idea about repurposing something for jobs, but could not have had more different games! I enjoyed the different reasons on why the animals were good and bad at certain jobs, and thought it was smart to have certain jobs have differing overlapped days so you'd need other candidates for them!
Also how'd you make a leaderboard?!?!
Thank you for playing! I enjoyed seeing your approach to doing something with jobs with the theme repurposed!
There are a few plug and play leaderboard options out there, and I used SilentWolf (https://silentwolf.com/) which is an easy to use free plugin for Godot. It isn't the best one out there, but it works well for what I need it to do. I've used it before for other game jams, and it isn't hard to set up (the instructions are basically put the files in the addons folder and do a couple API calls).
These animals are cute and silly haha my thanks and apologies to anonymous donor
I love this game, thank you for making this :)
Great job! Nice hand drawn style for the U.I. I was pretty bad at figuring out what animal was for what but I know other people were doing better! I think the leader board is great. Appreciate you getting that set up for everyone!
Very cute game, that was a lot of fun! I started out terribly but managed to get better in the last days 😎
The art is very charming and the amount of effort you put in putting descriptions for every animal at every job with a full description is insane. Also, don't ever give work to the panda. Anywhere. Really.
Really great entry! <3
I really like your take on the theme. It was really fun to find what animals worked best in the different locations. The writing is really good, it made me laugh more than once.
Great graphics, great audio. Good job on your submission!
That was a lot of fun, you actually made me go through several times to try and figure out what were the best animals for some areas.
I ran into a bug where sometimes I would get two of the same animal back, but I'm not sure how it happened or how to replicate it sadly.
I couldn't quite get top on the leader board but it was close enough.
Panda staying true to form and being a complete bum.
Thank you for playing, and thanks for letting me know about that bug! After lots of clicking around, I identified the problem and I'll be fixing it after the game jam. And yeah, panda is a super bum 😅
This was a lot of fun! Some of the combinations weren't so intuitive but reading the logic behind them and how the tasks went was very entertaining. Still don't know what that panda is good at lol. Great game with a really nice charm to it that had me replaying to see how perfect I could get the job matches. Also nice addition of the leaderboard, that added a nice drive to play more :D
Nice game and great idea! Fun to play and very creative writing.
I also like your artstyle. Very unique for a game jam.
This game is so incredibly cute and fun!! I loved the art, the writing, and the absurdity of pairing up different animals with different job descriptions. This is one of the top standouts of this jam to me, and one of my favorite entries.
I was a bit confused on how to move around the map at first, but understood after reading the itch.io game page. I really enjoyed your take on the theme and thought it was a fun spin on repurposing an animal's skills for labor. Amazing game!
Very nice design and a cool game idea. I had a good time. :)
This was a cute game. The gameplay loop was simple to learn. It felt like each job had 1 or 2 animals that were best at it. Not all of the messages were clear as to which would be the best, so it took some experimenting. I found 3* animals for 9 of the jobs, finding 2 3* animals for 2 of the jobs.
Much of the text was hard to read at the default size. I know it says best in full screen, but it would be nice if that wasn't required to read the text, as I was taking notes while playing. It would also be nice if there was a way to pull the newspaper back up after closing it. I initially clicked the X to close the top page, and it closed both. Since it is just a summary of the jobs, you can scroll around to find the remaining job(s), but being able to pull it up could save some scrolling. I would also be nice if you could zoom out to just see the whole map.
Thank you for playing! I appreciate your suggestions and your thorough review. I'll be releasing an update after the game jam with a couple of updates, including a button to bring back up the classifieds and the ability to zoom. I'll try to fix the text fuzziness as well. I found that problem on the last day of the game jam, and I couldn't get it fixed in time.
finally a way for my pet to pay off all of the food I bought for it! loved the art style :)
Wow, really great art style and nice approach to theme! Game has so cool chill vibe that make gameplay great!
I played to end just chilling, cool!
Congratulations on your submission!
Awesome concept! I had a great time with this game. Its even fun when you put an animal in a job they're a poor fit for just to see what the job report says! I sincerely hope you expand on this concept after the game jam. Great work!
Very relaxing! Really enjoyed the art, the townscape, and discovering how the game encourages experimentation (finding joy via the great writing even when there’s a performance mismatch).
Overall great job, had a lot of fun :)
A unique way to look at a difficult topic. I loved the art, the sound, charm of the game and the funny writing, had me chuckling. It had you think carefully about your choices (there was no "undo", I read there was no more time for implementing it) and even surprised you where you thought something was an obvious choice but it didn't work out well. Love that you took the time to also include the leaderboard. I had tons of fun! That "undo" / "fixing a mistake" was mentioned several times but that's really the only flaw I saw.
Great job!
What a charming game! I love the art style and the whole game feels really unique. It must have taken a lot of time to write all those articles about each animal/building combination! Well done, I love it.
