Catching fish for Professor Coral is dangerous business – mostly for the fish – which is why the old geezer equipped his submersible with a sonic wave blasting speaker. Stun these fishes and catch 'em all!

Congrats on 1st place!
Thank you very much! We're all floored, as there were some amazing games submitted to the jam. Needless to say, we're overjoyed with the positive response we got!
How very dare you make a game this polished! Everything about this was absolutely brilliant!
Thank you so much. We were a team of 3 and in that constellation it was our very first game jam. So maybe because of that we were very motivated to make it a good experience, also for ourselves.
And you have all absolutely succeeded, honestly really well done to all of you!
Immediately fun & Iove the pixel art style :)
A really creative way of navigating! One thing I think it could work here too as I saw with some fish, they can attack you and you can receive damage from them if not careful, maybe damage involves needed to get the item to get deeper again or something like that.
But either way this is an awesome entry! Loved it!
We thought about a stun instead of a damage mechanic but didn't have enough time to go further into that direction. Thank you very much for your nice feedback.
Lots to like here, from the pixel art and the prof character to the concepts of the gameplay. I completely missed that you're supposed to collect specific things, so I collected everything at least twice before realizing that you're only supposed to get what it tells you in the top left. I got a few more after that but it felt endless at that point (after about 4 eels and 4 angler fish). Not sure if there's an ending or not. Would be cool to see more, especially with more unique behaviors (maybe even dangers/attacks) for each fish. unique sounds per fish, etc. Great project overall, nice work!
Thank you for your nice feedback. Funnily enough the things you wish for are things we still would have done with more time on our hands. :)
Super polished! I was mind blown by the feeling of everything because it actually feels like a finished product. Excellent game!
Thank you so much for the feedback. We had a lot more that we wanted to do but in the end we focused to give "one complete" experience. So glad to hear, it felt like that :)
Actually a pretty fun game! The funny little details the professor said is the crack for me lol.I really love these kinds of exploration games where you go deeper and deeper to see more and more crazy stuff. Was confused on what the quest thing should be lol but finally understood it eventually (as its kind of unclear). I also realized that scroll wheel is a substitute for clicks! is this supposed to be a debug that is left out? (tbh using scrollwheel is kind of genius)
Overall a really solid game, esp when you move to an entirely different area!
the whale becomes entirely ez to catch using scroll wheel :)
Thank you very much for the feedback. Yeah the mousewheel control is "its not a bug its feature"-thingy. It was not intended to be controlled with that in mind but we also used it a lot in play tests and then just kept it in because it was fun to us to boost through the sea at high speed.
Thank you! The quest system came in pretty late, and with a couple of extra hours we would've expanded on it (or at least made the instruction more clear).
We knew about the scrollwheel and deliberately left it in the game, as it was kind of fun to zoom around at high speed (in a more developed version that could be an upgrade!).
Love the intro, love the simplicity. I wonder what could be next but I don't really see where this could go. But as is, pretty good =)
thanks for the feedback. originally we also wanted to make the move pattern of the fish more diverse. so that would be the next step for us with more time.
The art was the highlight for me 100%, and I love the intro. Navigation also being the catch mechanic was perfect. I wasn't able to end it though, I passed the whale to get to the eel and angler, but kept having to catch them or jellyfish. It was a short jam so I get it...that being said, the game is fantastic.
thank you very much for the feedback. We also have not worked much with pixel art before and enjoyed the limitations of it a lot. very happy to hear it looked appealing too.
The art is just crazy excuse me?! It would be great to have a proper ending after collecting all the creatures in the quest. The whale didn't appear in the quest for me, instead, it just kept looping between the eel and the anglerfish.
Thank you very much for the feedback. To be fair we used some AI for the very first image of the professor. He was based on a doodle of mine and with that we generated an image which than completely re-drawn afterwards by us. The actual submarine and fish models where completely done by our human hands from the start. you can see the doodles here ...
Haha! So cool! Thanks for sharing!
Loved the intro to this big time! The gameplay itself was fun, I think it's an interesting use of the object.
thank you, we wanted it to be funny but not force it too much. Making the Professor a shady version of a classic pokemon professor was the inspiration :)
It's clear that a lot of effort went into this game.
I love that you didn't just add cutscenes, but decorated them with text and transition animations. The game scene itself is a labor of love, very long, and there are drawings in certain places in the background, which is awesome.
Adapting the speaker logic for both navigating and catching fish is also quite clever. It gave the feeling of a complete game in every way.
Thank you for your very kind feedback. We were a team of three and got very quickly to an agreement on core game design so we had more time for visuals and playtesting overall.
I'm happy to hear that the intro panels are well received! They're not technically necessary, but we thought intros would simply a cool thing to have!
Everything looks super cool!
I loved the game feel and the visuals!
thank you. we were 3 people and only one of us did all the coding. 2 of us focused on the visuals.
Nice visuals & mechanics! Well implemented.
thank you very much.
I really liked it !! The mechanic is really intuitive and fun and the collecting part is a nice player goal. well done
Excellent game, tutorial, game loop, music.
That whale at some point caught me with it's fin and I had a lot of trouble moving away
main idea for the speaker+submarine is cool
thank you. We hoped the controls would be fun.
There is a plot, interesting gameplay with cool controls, and it's also beautiful. It is very cool
Very nice gameplay. Loved the humor. That pixel art rocks!
oh god everything abt this game is pretty
thank you very much. we had a lot of fun working in pixel art since we basically tried this style for the first time.
