I love the idea of being able to adjust the camera so that the perspective shifts like Super Paper Mario. If the concept is fleshed out I can see it being an extremely enjoyable puzzle platformer much like Catherine.

I was able to squeeze through walls, which I’m not sure is a type of sequence break but I could go to higher levels without the tutorials popping up.

Developer

Yeah, unfortunately quantum tunneling through walls is a common issue, but I am glad you enjoyed it nonetheless. Thank you for playing!

Very fun and creative game! I really enjoyed the mechanics, especially the perspective shift — it adds a really interesting layer to the puzzles and makes you think in a different way. The idea is very clever and well executed!

Developer

thank you for taking the time to try it out! we really appreciate it and are glad you enjoyed :)

When I heard Fez 2 had been cancelled since The Great Wizard Perilacks dropped, I knew I had to check it out. I have to mention the incredible perspective shift mechanic. I don't know how you did that from a technical standpoint, but it's super slick and opens the door for so many interesting puzzles! Definitely felt clever solving them (and dumb when not). I loved the wizards little death noises. Awesome concept, and great execution. Thank you for the game!

Developer

wow! thanks a bunch! we're really glad you enjoyed!! thanks for playing!

Impressive to make this in such a short time!

Luckily there were two of us, so we could split the load a little bit! Thank you for playing!

The puzzle mechanics were really interesting, especially the perspective shift. I did get stuck in a level because when I tried to reset it, my character didn't move and I became encased in blocks with no way out. That's the only issue I ran into though. This was a very clever idea. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

oh no! sorry that happened, but I am glad you enjoyed it nonetheless. Thank you for playing! (do you happen to remember where you were when it bugged out?)

Submitted

I don't remember exactly where it was, but I do remember there were  a lot of blue blocks, like a solid chunk of just blue blocks. I cleared too many of them out of the way, so I tried resetting the level, got stuck in a solid wall, and there were red blocks behind me, so when I tried to perspective shift out of it, I would just die. That's as well as I can remember it, so hopefully it helps a little? haha

Really cool visuals and funny sounds. I've seen some perspective switching games, even in previous bigmode jams, but the use of the foreground + the background was pretty cool, with platforms coming from both sides as you moved. Good stuff!

Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoyed it.

As soon as I saw this guy's name was parallax I knew I would be in for a wild ride

Super creative mind bending puzzles, and definitely a unique twist on the perspective switching theme! Also I love the cute little sounds the dude makes

Developer

Thank you so much! The name was a touch cheeky. Glad you enjoyed it!

I thought I was pretty used to perspective puzzles from echochrome, but this was a novel mindbender. The way your foreground and background movements are effectively reversed is crazy haha.

Developer

yeah it certainly takes a bit of getting used to. you kinda have to let the platforms come to you rather than you going to them, so to speak.

Thanks for playing!

this game is slick as heck!

The shifting has an awesome visual effect. The puzzles that you created using it were pretty clever. It took some levels before I fully understood how your game wanted me to think about it, but once there I think it was really satisfying figuring out puzzles. The best aha! moment was level 7 and realizing I had to look for ways to position myself on the foreground with the blue blocks in the background.

The hardest bits for me to grasp at first was that when I moved, that also moved the glowy bits out of the way too, so I didn't interact with the mechanic as much. At level 7 is when I fully grasped how your puzzle mechanics ought to be thought about.

Really clever stuff! It is genuinely impressive how you guys managed to make 10 levels in this time with this amount of slickness. There were hardly any times that I got stuck or frustrated, any time I did it was mostly because I had placed a block wrong mid-air and couldn't reclaim it.

Fantastic presentation as well! The 3D perspective looks great and the blocks made it easy to gauge how high/far I could actually jump.

Developer

Oh man, thank you so much! This is truly the highest of praise. Hearing that you had that a-ha moment is exactly what we were hoping for, and I’m glad you were able to lock into it. Thanks for playing!

This is a really clever puzzle game. The 2D/3D switching mechanic is smart, and I like how objects behave differently depending on whether they’re in the foreground or background. That said, I think making the overall scene a bit brighter could improve readability and make it even more comfortable to play.

Developer(+1)

I appreciate the feedback! The brightness of the scene was a difficult decision, and I definitely agree it could be brighter. We’ll incorporate that into a version 2.0. Thank you for playing!!

Wow, this game is crazy. My mouth actually went agape when the perspective shifted for the first time. It reminds me of those really cool 2D in 3D segments from Mario Odyssey, but in puzzle form. Really unique idea and good execution. I love the title, too.

You couldn't have given us higher praise, that's the exact feeling we hoped people would feel. Glad you enjoyed it!

Lots of interesting mechanics here. The dimensionality shift was fun. The level design was very cheese-able due to being able to clip into walls easily. I liked the step-by-step revealing of new mechanics as well.

Developer

Thanks for playing! How did you manage to clip out? We already found and patched one clip method, really not too surprising theres another lol.

Submitted

Honestly just walking into the block clipped me through. Maybe it has to do with framerate as well.

Developer

huh... yeah that might be a framerate thing? im assuming on web build? we had several of our friends playtest for us and never had that happen.

Submitted

Yeah web build. Probably frame rate.

I managed to beat all 10 levels. The main idea in this game is great, but I think it could have been used even better. Most of them times in the levels I wasn't really thinking because it was very hard to perceive how the route of the level would play out. That led to me just going forward and hoping for the best. Especially with the usage of the blocks, the levels could have gotten very tricky. But during my playthrough it didn't really matter if  I had a normal, green or blue platform. I never made use of them with the perspective tricks. I can picture cool levels where for example the player has to realize to use a blue platform here to break it later and then place a green one there to walk on top of it from the other side, but that never transpired here sadly. Some of the levels in the game were cool though, and I never went for the bonus points so maybe those required a more clever approach I wouldn't know.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! We are definitely hoping to explore more of the design space for the blocks and their interactions. So glad that you enjoyed it nonetheless!

Genuinely interesting concept. I think the instruction minimalism was a cool aesthetic but it limited my understanding of the game. I learned how the game was to be played by doing. the first time you use the shift it was awesome. Great originality and a good brain teaser.

Developer

I appreciate it! Tutorialization is something we struggled a lot with, but I am glad you were able to work it out through playing. More comprehensive instructions are on our to-do list. Thank you for playing!

That name pulled me in, that gameplay glued me in :) Great job with the aesthetics!

Do make sure to play and rate our game as well (it might take a minute for it to load)

Developer

Absolutely, I’ll check it out! Thank you for playing
