Amazing work as always

Developer

Thanks and thanks for playing

the SERIES CONTINUES!
Great usage of lower opacity to make the game so cool and yet sticking to your limited colour palette! The little skeletons in game were amazing to see moving their skulls left and right. Great QTE with SPACE to attack and the rest to dodge (sick animations!!!)

EDIT: Made a video of this, let me know how I can reach you best to share it, can't find you on discord at the moment XD

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I sent you a DM in Discord.

The game was great, just like the one from round one. The level design was solid, and the Qte's were awesome as well. It’s amazing how you’ve make these art styles, truly impressive work.

Developer

Thank you so much and thanks for playing!

This was a really cool game, loved the artwork too! Took me a minute to figure out how/what my superpower was but I love puzzle games so once I did, I had a lot of fun with this one.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and I'm glad you liked the puzzles!

Submitted(+1)

The QTE were implemented very well. I like how you used QTE for the start of a skeleton interaction, dodging bullets and fighting with the skeletons. Great job!

Developer

Glad you liked it, thanks for playing!

The skeleton boxing reminded me of the game 'Super Punch-Out' which of course is a classic so that was a pretty cool part you made for the game. Good use of QTE as well and your level layouts were pretty cool. Very cool retro look on the graphics as well.

Good job!!!

Developer(+1)

That was the idea I was going for, but decided to keep the combat to QTEs for the rounds theme. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

This was fun and surprising! I liked the music, and the art style. I found the low resolution of the QTE inputs hard to read sometimes but maybe that's just a skill issue. Overall an impressive entry and one of my favourites! Well done :)

Developer

Thank you and thanks for playing. I can see how the QTEs need to be made a little clearer.

beautiful and polished as usual, good job

Really liked the game!  i love how you made a consistent characther/world in gdko lol, great work!

Developer

Thank you and thanks for playing. I'm trying to just make everything I do from now on somehow in that universe.

Submitted(+1)

So when can you just make a full blown game man?? You have grown into this amazing unique style of art and game play. I love it!! and you did a great job with the QTE's!!!

Developer(+1)

I'm trying to make a full game. I've tried a few times, I'll eventually get one done. Thank you and thanks for playing.

The transitions between the scenes are so well done

Developer

Thank you and thanks for playing!

That was fun! I wonder if it was intended to be able to enter combat in slow motion? QTEs are becoming too easy. Maybe it's just a difficulty modifier? Anyway, great work as usual!

Skeleton Team go!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Entering combat in slow motion was a bug I hadn't gotten around to fixing before time was up. I didn't find it myself until a few hours before the deadline. I think it makes the boxing part way too slow. But having a difficulty modifier being how long you have to press the prompt sounds like a great idea I should try to implement. Thank you and thanks for playing!

Skeletons FTW!

Stellar work! I foolishly played this right before bed so my reactions were trash, the first skeleton bout had a lot of misses but right after that I was well into the groove. Kudos for supporting gamepad!

Developer

Thank you and thanks for playing. I prefer the gamepad for a lot of types of games so I always try to support it.

I liked the sound design and the skeleton fights once they were sped up!

I would have loved a reset button as the first thing i did was get stuck in the door as it closed lol. Also it was easy to just push boxes against a wall which would also mess up the puzzle.

In general i would have loved to see a lot more of the puzzle space of the ability explored as it was currently only used in one or two puzzles. For instance being able to walk past skeletons while using the ability.

(though the skeletons and box pushing puzzles are a bit at odds in the design so i would cut the skeletons entirely and focus on the ability and action sokoban kinda gameplay with dodging bullets and spikes comprising the action.)

Oh yeah and the title splash art and capsule art for the game are very grainy, which was a bit offputting as a first impression (looks like it was made from downscaling an image without cleaning up the art?)

Developer(+1)

Reset would have been good since I was able to completely eliminate that bug. The ability was the slow down as well as the QTE in my head canon. I made the later rooms more open choice as to how you wanted to play it, but wanted to force the player to at least try out both the puzzling and fighting each twice. Also, I kept it small for time and I like to keep my jam games down to 5-10 minutes or less, especially when there are a lot of games to play.

The title image was done with a lot of the spray paint tool, I like the chaos it creates and I usually go over it and refine it so that until it looks only a little messy. Still working on the style and trying things out. Sorry you didn't like it.

Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing.

This was great! The one thing I personally wanted was a way to avoid the skelletons. There was one or two levels where you could go behind them, but some more creative uses of the spikes or blocks would have been amazing. Not to echo what everyone else is saying, but the combat elements were a bit stronger than the puzzle elements.

At the end of the day, I am your pupil sensei. Teach me your ways of high quality art, simple but addicting gameplay, and a faster way to reach the bathroom.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback. There was a lot I didn't time to smooth over. I wanted the player to have to box at least twice to get them to experience the whole thing, but I made it so they could avoid all but two skeletons or like half of the puzzles.

A lot of the graphics in this one came from things I already worked on and modified a little bit. A good portion are from GDKO 2025, and then I had to do about 40% from scratch. including the big boxing guys. And I'm still a student myself on creating good game play and reaching bathrooms.

Nice throwback game!

The audio assets were my favorite part, it made the boxing more intense feeling!

I recommend giving some control over the move the player is doing in combat, I think it would be more engaging.

Good work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you and thanks for playing! I had it more to the style of punch out where you had to react based what your opponent was doing, but then that made the QTEs useless unless I spent time I didn't have to get them into it, so I reverted to making combat turn based using the QTEs to match the theme of the round. I think I might revert it back and put in the QTEs how I wanted them done if I continue working on this after.

Great to see you continue the Crunkle series and it pays a nice homage to Punch Out, a game that I really like. The boxes are great multi functional tools for the buttons and for blocking the projectiles with and I like how the time slowing mechanic works in the levels too. On top of the great gameplay, the artwork is amazing and that ending was such a nice addition!

Developer(+1)

I'm still working on a story for a full game with Crunkle, many of these jam games will likely be a part of it. I'm glad you had fun, thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

The art style and music was great and I loved the concept. Sometimes the skeletons felt like they disrupted the gameplay a bit but apart from amazing game!

Developer

Thanks for playing. I was going for a Pokemon style combat initiation kind of thing.

Submitted(+1)

Very good looking game. I feel the slowing time mechanic was detached from the combat, as if they were part of two different games. The QTEs were simple, and as a result, the entire combat system felt somewhat sluggish.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, and sorry you didn't like the QTEs.
