Ranked from 49 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
The game fits the “Strange Place” theme by putting the player in a workplace that is obviously unnatural, both in how it looks and how it behaves.
Nothing about the environment feels normal. What should be a simple, structured job instead feels unstable and slightly absurd. You’re given clear rules and clear tasks, but the setting itself constantly makes you question them.
It’s a strange place not because it tries to hide what it is, but because it openly expects you to accept it as normal.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All core elements of the game — from design, code, and visual assets — were made by the Fenryn team during the jam.
The only thing we didn’t create from scratch was the audio, which were sourced from freesound.org,

Very stressful hahah, nice style and pretty cool concept. Nice job!

This is the most stressful printer I've ever dealth with and I've owned an HP lol.

I like that it's not just "click fast to win". Each problem makes you actually pay attention. The paper jam one had me sweating trying to find the sweet spot, and the ink refill mech is nicelysatisfying when you time it right. Love the illustrations you guys made for this. Good job. It's small but its memorable. This would go well on mobile as well I think.

Developer(+1)

Haha! “The most stressful printer” is the highest praise our little ink-monster could ask for, that’s his whole evil business model. We’re glad the paper jam had you jam-ming under pressure XD Thanks so much for the kind words, and congratulations on surviving the office!

This is a cool concept for a game! I enjoyed the challenge of it and would love to see what a refined version of the game would look like.

Hello! The art style is really cool and pleasing to the eyes despite being kinda creepy :3 The concept of like a mimic type write is really unique and refreshing too :3 I will say though, having this as a regular typing game instead of task management or having a tutorial instead of a wall of text thats lowk hard to read would be epic sauce :sob: Cool game!

Developer

Hello!! Thank you so much, we are so happy to hear that! XD Haha I love the mimic comparison, I can totally see it! Instead of eating you, it eats your papers and make you lose your job instead.... honestly, I'm not sure which one's scarier in this economy haha! And yeah, we hear you about the wall-of-text tutorial T . T That's definitely something we’ll think about improving in future updates.

Amazing entry! The art style is sooooo cool and the concept is very creative and unique! I had a lot of fun playing! ^^ I did struggle with lengthy instructions, as it was a bit immersion-breaking to go and read what I was doing wrong, and without the instructions it wasn't too intuitive what to do. And while the long instructions were super helpful for the gameplay indeed, I also wished the handwritten text was bigger or easier to read. But despite all of these nitpicky details, I was still super invested and loved the game! Really really really good job!!

Developer

Thank you so much!! We’re so glad you enjoyed it  T-T We completely understand what you mean about the long instructions and the text size. Breaking immersion to read isn’t ideal, and we’d love to make things more intuitive and easier to follow visually in the future. The fact that you were still super invested despite those details means a lot to us. Thank you again for the kind words and for taking the time to share your thoughts!! <3

The art has caught my eye and I was interested. While playing the game it was difficult to understand what I'm supposed to do, even though I understood that I must complete a task in order to finish printing. So what I would suggest is spend more time making sure the visual feedback is in place so that the player can get the goal right away. So when the player does something wrong, the game doesn't tell it in text, but rather makes number animations, highlights the area in which the player failed to focus/consider of, and that goes alongside making the game feel more satisfying and responsive to play in general. Overall, I liked the premise of the printer being kind of a boss fight, but instead of fighting you're trying to get prints out of it. Almost like a wild animal you must treat, which I think has a lot of potential. But overall, nicely done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback, this is really helpful. You make a really good point about visual feedback. We focused a lot on the concept and atmosphere, but we can see how clearer animations and stronger visual cues would make things easier to understand for players. Thanks again for playing and sharing your thoughts. this kind of feedback genuinely helps us improve.

A cool game, altough for the future, please don't put your tutorial into 8 walls of texts, nobody wants to read that XD
good music good visuals and a unique idea

9/10 :D

Developer

Hahaha, that's fair, we'll definitely look into making the tutorial shorter and more digestible in the future. Glad you enjoyed the game though, thanks for checking it out

Submitted(+1)

Great concept, the visual is cool and reminds me a little bit don't starve. I think the music is too repetitive and I had issues with the crooked paper, don't really understand how it works.
Otherwise Good job !

Developer

Thank you! The Don't Starve comparison made us smile. We actually do take inspiration from Don't Starve and Tim Burton–esque art styles, so that means a lot! Good point about the music and the crooked paper mechanic, we’ll look into improving those. Really appreciate you playing and sharing your thoughts!

Really reminds me of the book of monsters from harry potter. Great art and concept

This was a cool and unique game, and I loved the art style and the printer design. Though it would look even better with some more animations! The tutorial with images was much appreciated, but the font was a bit hard to read. I also like that you have two difficulties, but I feel like hard mode may be too hard in the inking department. The other minigames didn't seem to be more difficult. Some balancing could really help here. Otherwise, this game was pretty cool!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the feedback! More animations would definitely make it feel event better. Fair point about the font and hard mode too. To be honest… we also had to play it a few times before we could consistently survive hard mode, especially the inking part. We’ll revisit the balancing so it feels challenging but not printer-rage inducing. Really appreciate the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

This gives me another reason to hate the printers! Finally beat hard mode after a failed attempt, and I will happily pronounce myself king of the printer. Jokes aside, the game is quite enjoyable to play, and it has a really nice hand drawn artstyle. I quite enjoyed the game, well done!

Other things I like:

  • Two difficulty levels! Replayability!
  • A surprise twist at the end of the game

Suggestions:

  • Filling the ink in hard mode is really difficult, it's very easy to overshoot the 88-92 range with a single frame. Consider rebalancing it
  • Some more animation would be nice
  • It would be good if there were some more visual feedback for each minigame. For example, the printer gets "uncomfortable" when the paper is not aligned, so as to signal to the player that the paper is still not in the right position.
Developer

All hail the King of the Printer. You’ve earned that title.
Seriously though, thank you! We're so glad you enjoyed the game (and survived hard mode). The ink range in hard mode is definitely... unforgiving, haha. We'll look at balancing that so it's challenging without being too brutal. And we love the idea of the printer getting “uncomfortable” when things are misaligned. That kind of reactive feedback would be awesome to add. Really appreciate you taking the time to write this!

I love the visuals and this is a cool and creative game concept.

Submitted(+1)

The art is really good! I also liked the gameplay. I had some issues with the crooked paper and the repetition of the music but great work!

Submitted(+1)

Love the art style. The minigames feel like tasks you would find in among us. Especially the paper pull which really has the card swipe task feel which goddamm i just cant get the correct pull speed

Current core gameplay feels 50% of time wooden/static -> no visual movement at all.

1 ... Jitter movement of center character

2 ... maybe trigger some special animation if player do no action

3 ... distortion full screen shader

On the other hand:

There is really good animation when you fail

I expected more mouse hover actions based on game style game

Game: mid-hard

Sound:

1 ... I loved it at start

2 ... after listening it for 10 mins there it started to feel repetitive -> but

3 ... cause of this fail animation I failed a lot of times -> sound felt less repetitive cause of my frustration of <no success>

that is good concept

Sound Problems:

After loop ends/starts -> there is pop

Aesthetic

This animation of <No you don't get paper> is very good.

Maybe move this bar to center bottom -> cause:

1 ... main action is at center,

2 ... at the same time game require eye focus at corner

Unique & interesting story

PS: tested display 27inc

Developer

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! We really appreciate you taking the time.

Yeah, that’s fair, the gameplay can feel a bit static. Some extra motion and reactive feedback would probably make it feel more alive. The hover suggestion especially makes sense. Good catch on the sound loop pop too, we'll fix that. And moving the bar closer to the center is something we’ll definitely try out.

Really happy you liked the fail animation and the overall concept though, that means a lot. Thanks again!

Fun game! The art is beautiful, and I really liked the concept!

Submitted(+1)

love the art and weirdness of the game, good job :D

Submitted(+1)

Nice game! I did have to go back to the menu to check the instructions a couple times, but I got the hang of it quickly, some randomization for the tasks wd be great. And I love the artwork!

Developer

Thanks a lot! Really happy you liked the art. And randomizing tasks sounds like a fun improvement, that would definitely help keep things feeling fresh. Appreciate you playing!

Submitted(+1)

The loop is fun but can get a bit repetitive. The art style is great! The mini games work but can be a bit hard to figure out especially the ink part it could help to have a sign of where to press (on the serynge for exemple)

Developer

Thank  you for your feedback, we really appreciate it! And you raise a good point about the ink part, clearer cues on where to press would definitely help, we'll definitely look into that!

Amazing game! Incredibly unique concept and executed so well. The manual for the printer was really helpful and all of the ways printing went awry was so cool.
