A really fun quick blast arcade game that's perfect for the Amiga =)

I have been going backwards and forwards in my head about this one. Because it is a cool concept, but in the context of the theme being "Return of the Arcade", I have been wondering how this would be controlled on an actual arcade machine? I've come to the conclusion that it could be done by having a joystick and a trackball, or two buttons and trackball. Although people tend to think of typical arcade control schemes when it comes to arcade titles of old, even during the arcade's heyday it was common to see games with unique controls.

I like the in-game visuals, the power-ups which rain down, and the variety of enemies, along with the challenge of making the sure player doesn't hit the walls. I am torn about the speed, as it did feel that levels were going on a little too long, but also when it came to certain sections the slow speed was certainly appreciated! With some balancing tweaks this has the potential to be a solid title.

Echoing what has been said below, really nice presentation and music, but it was all a bit too slow and unresponsive. Love the crab monster, looks fantastic! Been watching Redpill develop, and its getting better and better. A bit faster and smoother and this could be a really good showcase.

It's a quality game with great graphics, decent gameplay, and awesome music. Indeed it could have been my favourite game of the jam, unfortunately it runs like a dog which is really bad for mouse controls. If the game ran faster the playability would have improved immesurably, but it feels sluggish which makes the game either too easy or too hard when avoiding things. Also a shame there is AI art when the in-game pixel art is so good, (I love the look of the crab boss especially!), but both styles don't mix. Game also appears to be a copy of Ball x Pit which is great to have a version of it on the Amiga but it's not different enough to be an original game.

Interesting as a game, game play different from the classic games. I tried it several times using the Mister FPGA with a 68020 core with fast Ram, but I notice several slowdowns. Unfortunately I don't have a royal amiga 1200.  What configuration do you recommend? I'll try the ADF file too, maybe it runs better.

Congratulations

Thank you for the comment and playing the game. I don't have FPGA but on the real machine it works fine with the config you mentioned.

This is the kind of game that is a surprise for many people not aware on the constant development of Red Pill Game Engine. I recall the early versions, of the engine and it was not something that I would recommend, back then.
But with this game it clearly establishes that the engine is powerful enough to handle varied amiga game content.

The game itself is a mix of Knightare with Arkanoid (in my view) and it's a blast - check out.

The presentation looks great but the game needs lots of improvements. I am also a sceptic if RedPill is a suitable engine for such a game.

Developer

And there will be improvements, thanks for playing!

Great game, loads of potential, pretty original and would buy it digitally! Arcade wise, would slam a quid in happily. Would be 4 stars but gave it 3 as its just too slow as is.
