Hi 🙋‍♀️

For our latest Ludum Praxi jam, we offered to run a bundle with entries, and someone had asked if we'd accept older entries too, so I said yes. So I'm reaching out because we could include this game in the bundle if you're up for it.

It's a PWYW bundle (including free), split between all creators.

If you're interested, let me know before September 14th. If not, that's totally cool too :D

This is a fantastic little system for a 72-hour game! I love the concept of a Hero in a Monster's body, the struggle of Good and Evil. I agree with the comment below about stat values. Reading through it, the skills + starts section was a bit confusing to me. It does feel very weighted to failure, which could be exactly what you were going for! :) So, if that was the intent, rock on.

I also appreciate that you included a section on improving and boosting skills and such. That really lends it to a campaign set-up instead of just a one-shot.

An impressive amount of background and lore here, supporting a detailed game engine.  Serious mix of theme and crunch.

I like the writing. It has a really cool concept. I am not a huge fan of combat in TTRPGs. My favorite is Mausritter. It is my impression your system has a focus on combat. Your examples mostly involve combat which is fine. I am just letting you know this was not made for me.  When I read the introduction my first thought was "Oh I am a warlock". There are differences between this game and being a warlock with an evil patron, but it has a very warlock feel to me. This was clearly made for people who have played games like DnD. This feels like a warlock subclass. I mean that in the beast way. It can be hard to convey tone in writing like this I assure you I have a positive tone.  l like warlocks. This is very cool. Personally I would have liked to see more of a focus on non combat skills, but that is a me problem.

Ah, wow this is so much work and such gorgeous design as well in such a short time.  I really like the way the game fits together the tropes of gothic horror with an overall hopeful and optimistic tone, it's heartwarming

First of all, this game is huge! It's amazing that you completed it in 72 hours, well done!!! 🥳

Your introduction to this game is GREAT! It could use a little proofreading, but it’s an absolutely glorious welcome to this world. My depression was like “someone understands!” and then my hopeful side agreed by the end, too.

I was a little confused about the “10 stats.” There’s no specification of what they are until two sections later (moving them up under the “10 stats” section would fix this entirely), or what’s a success or failure (which is also explained a few sections later), which becomes especially confusing when going from 30 points to allocate up to 100 as a possibility. After learning how you check for failure or success, I can definitely see why you might go for 100 (having 10 in each stat, +2 in your specialties, is still only 12 out of 100). And in that case, the 30 feels incredibly low (if you give yourself 5 HP and 5 soul points, that only leaves 20 across 8 more stats). With that said, I do love the idea of an RPG where failure is likely since you already died once, and using 100 vs 30 makes sense if you were a hero rather than an ordinary person.

I like your reliance on the d100 for randomizing a lot. I’m a huge fan of randomness in games, and it feels like that’d give some really wide swings where you can’t possibly know whether you can succeed or it’ll be super easy. I also like that, because you’re inhabiting a body, resting isn’t safe. Normally, it feels like resting is a cheat code to heal up and prepare, but here it can even be fatal!

Overall, this is an incredibly entry with fantastic narration! 🥳

Your story telling and creative font use make for a good read. I enjoyed the intro, it really built my interest for the game.

Your settings give inspiring starting points and the idea of remaining balanced so that you don’t give into the darkness that you now inhabit is a really intriguing theme.

This was a big scenario to get written in the Praxi time limit, quite the accomplishment!
