How does your game fit the theme?
There are two boxes: the opponents, and your own. You have to capture the opponent's items by mimicking it's position on your own grid, similar to battleships except you can see every item on the board. Despite being on separate grids, they interact while outside each other's boxes.

The best game. Amazing art style, fun gameplay, maybe a guided tutorial of 3 rounds so people understand better how to play (now there is too much text). For example, I thought my game wasnt working when the shop didnt appear until 3 games I didnt understood you have to destroy every square to finsih the round.

Developer

that means a lot, thank you so much. a couple friends of mine who playtested also raised the guided tutorial suggestion, so i'll be sure to add that

Brilliant game! My most highly rated I've played so far
I love the pre-rendered graphics and the box opening animation is very nice!

I found this to be simple in the best possible way.

All of the low-poly graphical effects and coloring felt subtle but completely direct, with an atmosphere a little bit like inscryption. The music was very calming in my opinion until I progressed and it started to feel tense despite not changing at all. Usually games like this start off hard and get a lot easier, but I feel like you kept throwing out new challenges in a way that kept me on my feet in a good way, and I had to think harder on where to place my nogs, what effects would I have to sacrifice in order to max out the points etc.

This has really great atmosphere and fun mechanics. With more nogs I can totally see this being a full game! Great Work!

the nogs, items, and effects were the most fun part to program, expect some updates in the future for sure

Not my cup of tea tbh, but it seems like one of the most complete / repayable type games in the jam. Good job!

The sound design in this game is superb! The ui/gameplay also feels incredibly responsive and I quite enjoy the ambient sounds in the background. The presentation really helped me lock in and carried me to round 14 (I WAS SO CLOSE AJHKHKAOSK)! As others have said having a wider variety of totems, buffs or debuffs would be AMAZING for replayability but even the demo alone is incredibly impressive to me!

The game is easy to understand and number go up is really satisfying.  But right now i feel like it lacks replayability, there are not that many nogs and totems. My new run is not really different from the previous one.  Also some highlighting when you hover buttons, totems etc would be nice. But the concept is amazing, it can become a real banger if it'll be expanded

This game is REALLY fun, I love myself a good number go big roguelike like Balatro and this did it for me, the mechanics are easy enough to understand quickly and the nog and totem mechanics are also interesting. It doesn't have a lot of nogs or totems however so there's not a lot of variety and there's a lack of music which doesn't help. But other than that this is an amazing game that I would LOVE to see expanded, great job!

my biggest worry was that the mechanics would be too hard to understand, so that's such a relief to hear haha. also yes there will absolutely be an expansion on these ideas. making the totems, nogs & effects are by far the most fun things to make

Super fun roguelike, kept me on my toes and thinking at maximum brain capacity for the entire play session!

The visuals were also stunning, I adore the pseudo-claymation style you got going here. And the ost, chefs kiss, its so calming and vibey... perfect for a brain buster like this!

happy to hear it, my dinky little keyboard did the heavy lifting for sure

Took me a few tries but I eventually got a win!!! I like it a ton, the style almost kinda reminds me of claymation in a weird way and I like it a ton!!

'its weird' and 'i like it' are the exact words i aim to recieve after making anything

Everything about this game was great! The visual aesthetic is off the amazing its eerie but playful and I love that so much. The gameplay scratched my monkey brain the same way a slot machine does so loved that for us. I got to stage 15/15 but was a few hundred billion shy of winning and that will haunt me for the rest of my days. Also, the pitch is so well done, and the animation was really cool. I enjoyed nogging it up. (What?)

im glad, because it made me feel stupid

it works best when you make the perfect combo and every thing just works.

Extremelly good game. It is insane that this game as so much polish already. I played 25min completed a run and tryed an other without the pile drivers.

Of course I have the same balancing issue that being the pile drivers make the game brainless. It is by no mean not fun because big number go bigger will always make my brain happy but it could have been better.

In fact when playing without the pile drivers the game is very fun and forces to think outside the box.

At first I thought the theme was a bit absent from the game but the moment I realised that I could interact with the other box I was sold, clever stuff, even if for now you really don't have to do that to win.

The pitch is great, best one I have seen so far. In everything the art for the project is very very good ! Hope it does well !

The pitch video instantly grabbed me, the animation is super polished and full of personality. That same level of care really carries over into the game itself, everything feels lively and well-crafted, especially the retro-inspired visuals.

I had a great time playing. The core idea feels fresh, and it’s the kind of game that’s easy to come back to for a few runs. It does get a bit easy once you find certain strong setups, but honestly, experimenting and breezing through with a powerful combo is part of the fun.

Overall, really enjoyable and full of charm. I’d love if you also play the game I submitted too ;) it's about combos too.

The pitch was incredibly engaging and really sold how original the core idea is. Plus, those retro graphics give it such a clever and nostalgic vibe. Blatro-like games enjoyer approves <3

Developer

thank you so much! if you like the graphics then i think you'd like the work of CottonDaTail
she's a great friend of mine and she helped create the main control panel in the game. it wouldn't have looked the same without her

First of all the animation in that video pitch is awesome, love that. I absolutely adore the way everything in this game is animated, too. I really enjoyed my time with this, though it's currently pretty unbalanced (not that i mind, cruising through things with a box full of pile drivers, electrifiers and one battery was still really satisfying), I could absolutely see this becoming a balatro-like game that I just boot up every so often to play for a few hours. Good stuff.

Developer(+1)

thank you for the kind words! also yeah i agree on the balancing. i think if i had more time, adding more items and adjusting the prices would be my next port of call

Submitted(+1)

good game but once you get pile-drivers it gets really easy
