Fun game :D. So many cool details.

Submitted

That was a lot of fun. I made an order here and there but, halfway through I discovered a fun trick with the item holding physics to break out of the shop and try to explore the mall as much as I could before being teleported back lol.

Overall, I really loved the presentation, attention to detail (especially with the settings!), the vibe and the drink making process. My only comment would be streamlining the drink making process a tiny bit as, while the physics are wonky and fun, it can also disrupt someones concentration for some really involved orders (part of what made me say "screw it" and try to break stuff to escape the shop). There's definitely a balance to strike with it and I feel this was an awesome attempt regardless.

Awesome vibes and visuals! The details to the audio placement were so cool too. And multiple radio stations!

I think the multiple steps were fine but having to do them for every drink was a bit daunting. There wasn't enough tools to work with to prep for multiple customers or rotations either. I felt like if I was able to brew up a big batch before starting the day and then be able to serve out peoples customizations, only having to brew smaller things throughout the day, I would have enjoyed my time a lot more, but this was really cool and fun nonetheless!

Amazing job!!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Which tools did you think were missing? Not enough containers? Or did you expect more customers throughout the day?

I think the big pot for boiling water felt like the big bottleneck. Most items were 1-time use and I think that was the issue I was having. (unless maybe I was overpouring every time and they were able to be used multiple times lol)

Developer

We could probably increase the amount of liquid the pot holds so that you can fill multiple tea dispensers. Though the tea dispensers should hold enough to fill a little less than 8 tea cups.

My favorite visuals so far this jam! Really cozy and fleshed out low poly. I did feel a bit of the physics interactions were awkward, specifically with things getting stuck upside down or depth perception issues, but the frequent use of snapping in place did make things go a lot smoother. I was a bit sad all my prep on day 1 did not roll over onto day 2 but that makes sense given new ingredients and teas kept being added. The tutorial was a bit intimidating, but all the job aids are both clever to the original job and really really helpful. Also bonus points for having the most fleshed out settings menu I've seen this jam.

Thanks for playing! The interaction does need a few tweaks to feel better, so that things don’t tip over as much, but I’m glad the snapping worked well. At first we weren’t sure whether to keep things to the next day, but went with resetting since the boba places I looked at for reference made stuff fresh every day. Glad to know that the settings menu is appreciated. Spent quite a long time working on that for my game template.

This game was so cozy! I loved the art style, everything was cute and the mall setting was so well done for how simple the effect was. It was also cool to get the experience of working at a boba shop. This is definitely something I would have played in class like cool math games. Great job!

This brought me back to getting my first job and being slow at everything while making numerous workplace and health code violations just to get customer's order wrong. Wonderful job here, very charming game that would almost be chill if it weren't for the dread of knowing you are going to mess up this order. Loved the artstyle and mood of this one, your team did a great job making something really cool and cohesive. Well done!

Submitted

Oh wow, an amazing job. It was really fun, even before I realized I can’t just smash in all-the-boba and ice on top of the cup isn’t really good enough for the customers.

Absolutely loved the style/art for this game and can only imagine how much work went into all of that.
I did struggle with the amount of steps to make the tea, perhaps if the tutorial was split up into sections rather than being doled out all at once at the start it would help players ease into it.

as someone with a crippling boba addiction I enjoyed being in this little world. Its immediately clear how much effort was put into this.. the visuals are one of, if not the, best I've seen in the jam so far. It just feels very polished for such a short amount of time. There are also a lot of different mechanics that have to come together to make this game work, so well done!

my one constructive feedback is that the game lacks a more guided ramp-up to assist the player. There are a lot of mechanics involved and on the first customer I was already hit with a ton of things, I could simply not make it work, even after trying to read the instructions and try again. The sequence of text in the beginning doesn't help much, I think if you can start with one mechanic at a time and build up slowly, it will be a super solid game

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! We have a few ideas on how to make a better tutorial like making a checklist like UI to make things clearer. Sadly we didn’t have time during the jam, but we’ll probably try some things afterward.

The brewing system is complicated, which is great for simulation games but at the same time creates a barrier for more casual players who do not like to read a manual before they can play, also the controls are a bit awkward. But the game has awesome visuals, solid art direction and very cozy atmosphere which I like a lot!

this is so polished nice work its super fun to but together drink but sometimes it doesn't work, but i really liked the fact that there was no rush most of the time in these games have a time limit and i liked that i could just muck around instead of make the drinks this game is really nice with the atmosphere and the restyle is really cohesive, other then objects not working this is a really nice game :)

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for reporting the bug with drinks. We were able to upload a fixed version on Tuesday, so it should be much easier to complete all the orders now!

My tea shop would've been shut down for so many health code violations lol! It was hilarious trying to get the big clunky cauldron on the stove and trying to navigate the shop for the various items. I got so flustered I threw the cauldron at the customer and his response, "This isn't my drink..." too funny! Loved the 90s/2000's style graphics, music, ability to change the radio, and how the volume adjusts the closer/farther you get from the radio.

Really fun game, and great aesthetic! I like that you get time to prepare at the start of the day, and having all the instructions on posters makes it a lot easier to learn. I also like the added chaos from the physics, although it’s hard to tell if you’re pouring stuff correctly sometimes. I would love to play more of this game!

This is an amazing game,I like the graphicz and the gameplay also for the tutorial maybe it would be better where you guide us on how you make a tea but overall nice game.

I should definitely be fired, I'm serving a loooot of floor tapioca XD

This was a fun and cute game, I really liked the models and the physics were very funny. Sadly I could not get much right, I got maybe one order right and I could never figure out what was wrong. I think part of it was that the tea tank looked like it was dispensing even though there was nothing in it, maybe? I also couldn't figure out how I was supposed to make tapioca. I put the mystery fruit that was next to the starch in the machine but then it wouldn't let me hit the button.

I also reeeally appreciate that there were reminders on all the walls on how things worked, I was really worried when the cat gave me all those instructions at once but I think the onboarding process and the gradual introduction of ingredients as the days went on was great!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I had a lot of fun making and working with the physics.

When you played, we had a few game breaking bugs where mangos had the wrong ID, strawberries didn’t spawn, and vanilla syrup was caramel syrup. We asked the GWJ staff and were able to upload a fixed version, so it’s easier to complete the days now with all the ingredients.

Our artist did a really good job making all the models, textures, and the info posters. Glad you liked the game!

I liked the aesthetic of the game, the intro could be more "hands on", me personally I forgot half of the things from the instructions. I also had some issue where my mouse automatically moves to the down and right, so it was quite difficult to play on laptop. Fun idea!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Sadly we didn’t have time to make a better tutorial, but that is something we wanted to add. The mouse moving down to the right might be because you had a gamepad connected, since gamepad controls do work in game. Need to figure out a way to indicate that to players, since it seems to come up a lot in games.

Submitted(+1)

I had a lot of fun for this one! Intro was a lot, but I like that there was some time for me to mess around until I figured out the game :D

Unfortunately, sometimes I'm pretty sure I got the order right, but the customer still didn't like it. Also, I was asked to make strawberry tapioca, but didnt have any strawberry, only mango. (Couldn't make the mango tapioca either)

But I really enjoyed the art direction, setting, and game was really fun, even if the physics were chaotic. There some nice charm to it! (Also the setting menu options are insane!)

Developer

Thank you for reporting the issue with strawberry not staying on Day 3! There is a small typo in the ID for strawberry on Day 3 :( We made a request to fix it.

Love the vibe, fumbling physics was fun and it was a good chill time. had some trouble with the sweetener as well but really cool game!

Submitted(+1)

I love the detail that the tea slowly cooks off if you leave it on the stove and the pot starts smoking if it's empty. I was having a bit of trouble with the sweetener not seeming to go into the cup (or maybe it was invisible) but I really like the concept and the cat ear shadow was hilarious, great work!

Submitted(+1)

Omg i was having a blast playing this it was so fun! Fumbling everything because i tipped over the tea jug causing numerable hazards and health violations just to end up serving a guy sweetened oat milk because it was somehow his fault.
