Wow, gorgerous art, the music and sound effects are also incredibly fitting and well done, the kitsune japanese vives were blooming from every part of this game, even the transitions on the menus, it feels and plays like a Touhou game, which I love, I liked it quite a lot, and the characters portraits are amazing, with the little dialogues, I really thought it was like a full game out of Steam.  I want to point out some things I found that I would take a look again if you want to update the game later on, these are my nitpicks, I like the game a lot already, and these are just my opinion:

The enemy waves feel nice, but the bullets are very difficult to see, it is possibly because the background is very bright, more contrast on the bullet edges or more color contrast could help. The boss is nice too, but the bullets are extremely fast and small, which are very hard to track, the difficulty spiked drastically from the enemy waves to the boss.

The only problem with it is that I wanted more. On a more serious note, I wish it had keybinding options or at least at least 2-3 predefined control schemes. One could be WASD for movement and all abilities on right hand.

Game has a nice atmosphere, looks and sounds great, and more important it played well too. The game never seemed unfair, maybe a bit too easy on first part.  And I liked that it had a story too.

So GG, nice game!

Really great-looking title screen and UI, with a great transition between screens. The way the control hints switched from keyboard to gamepad was super fluid too. It also played great on gamepad.

The game is amazingly polished. The art is beautiful, and I loved the brush style used for the background art. The cherry blossoms looked amazing. The color palette popped, but was saturated just enough to not conflict with the foreground.

The Kitsune was drawn really nicely too, both during gameplay and in the portrait/dialogue representation. The bullet impact feedback was communicated really well, especially during the Hunter fight with the red flashing and the fire effects. Even with all that going on, the boss tells were still easy to read.

The gameplay was fun too, with a nice variety of skills available. I can definitely see this being the first level of a full game. The sound design was balanced nicely as well. Pretty much all the sounds were ear candy, especially the pickups. The music was super fun too, so good job on composing that.

This is a really polished and beautiful entry. Finished with 704,380 :)

Hi score: 834570

The game feels a bit slow. The stage doesn't do much and neither does the first phase of the boss, while the second phase throws in fast bullets from behind and is pretty evil. It looks great, though, and with a few tweaks I can see it being fun. The Dash->Bomb system didn't really have a chance to shine because it felt like patterns were just intentionally designed as dash bait, or didn't have any dash-able bullets at all with nothing in-between to allow for the player to actually play with the dash. There also didn't seem to be much of a point to bombing except for damage/survival, so my bomb meter was just maxed out until the last pattern, and I couldn't take advantage of the dash bait patterns to charge meter.

I like the score item x graze multiplier bonus. It's a nice little non-linearity to the scoring system.

Very beautiful style! the dialogue feels poorly translated somehow, but otherwise i don't have a lot of critique... the fact that i can't dash backwards maybe? this feels like it would control great with controller, as i was afraid to dash to absorb foxfire shots, worrying that my somewhat stilted maneuvering would cause me to take damage from shots that didn't get absorbed, which did happen once or twice.

All in all really well done! i can see the full game of this stretching out before me c:

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate the kind words & constructive criticism! We'd love to make a full game of this, we were considering subtitling it "pilot" or "prologue" because it definitely feels like a vertical slice of what a full game of this could be.

Fun fact for the dialogue being poorly translated, this was an intentional decision. Our team played a lot of Touhou 7 during the beginning of the week for bullet hell research. I felt like the story had some unique charm in how the translation was very literal, and like you had to read between the lines of it. I was hoping to achieve something similar with this! But it might have been a bit out there of a choice to make, I'm not sure if I'd keep it for a full version of this game, haha. But I'm glad you noted it, it's definitely what we were going for. :D

The game is pretty, I really like the visuals of this game ^^

About the gameplay, it’s fun and I like the small story presented here, also the absorb ability is nice and a fun way to reload the power, but I would like to see more chances to use it

I really like how everything feels cohesive and in theme, in a sense it actually feels like a world, the song, the font, visuals. Those details that are hard to fit in a small time are present and I like that

About the difficulty, I like it, maybe a level a little more hard, the boss is ok and fun, but maybe a little more enemies would be more fun, also the wave before the boss, there seems to be an invisible shooter or something like that because you kill everything but there are 2 that keep shooting

I like this base you have, I would just add a way to speed up the text after you have seen the dialogue once, outside that, I like it as it is now, nice game :)

Here is my highscore and the boss got me twice but I cleared it haha

I love the art style!!

This is a really good game! It feels complete. And I LOVE the artstyle here. A lot of time and love went into this submission. The artstyle randomly really reminds me of a game I like called "Realm of Ink", especially the UI.

The sound, music and art felt absolutely amazing. My only problem is the boss felt a little repetitive and too tanky. But otherwise an absolutely gorgeous entry, congrats!

Very polished and pretty art. I like the dash / absorb mechanic and wish it was used more frequently and with more depth.

I think either reducing the down time between enemies appearing, having them have more health or having more enemy varieties could improve the gameplay before the boss because I one-shot them quickly and then spend some time waiting for the next wave.

Good job!

Thanks for the feedback! I checked out your game as well, I really liked the style of your game, and messing around with your different weapons.

Beautiful entry, i absolutely love the artstyle, the character designs are awesome !

Gameplay wise this feels pretty solid with some tight movement and i like how you always have a somewhat wide shot to cover a bit more ground.

I managed to reach the boss up untill her 2nd phase (when she’s down to just the red bar) but couldn’t manage to beat her :(

Regardless, i had fun giving this one a shot. Overall well done :)

Love the art style!

Thanks! Just played your game and I really like the way you used the shrinking mehanic.

I scored 681000 points.

I had a lot of fun! The game looks and sounds great (I was very happy you have volume sliders), controls perfectly, clearing the screen from these bullet sponges (that you don't want to let spread or they may be a threat) is satisfying and the boss fight especially proposes the exact difficulty and kind of patterns I'm looking for during this jam.

Possibly nobody had found your game yet because you didn't check the Windows box when uploading the file so it doesn't appear when checking Windows in the submission list, next time you release a downloadable (not browser) game then that's something you might want to think of doing (I always forget too).

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the feedback, it's really appreciated! Just checked out your game and thought it was very well polished.

And thanks for the tip! We made sure to fix that, hopefully it should be easier to discover now. :)
