I ended up playing this longer than I thought. I like the theme/style and the main gameplay loop. I laughed a bit after buying the upgradeable stats and then also having to buy to see which upgrade is which. Once I got some upgrades going it was pretty fun, and I always had to keep in mind to save some money just in case I die. Very fun!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! That part where you have to also buy which upgrade is which was not part of my original plan, but I suddenly have the idea for it and thought it would be perfect xD

Really cool idea, but the 'respawn with stats' was way too punishing considering how easy it was to instantly die. Also, having the upgrades be labeled would be a huge help - I couldn't tell what most of the icons meant.

Fun little game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, instantly getting killed after entering a new area is indeed a problem. I think I should have made some sort of invincibility mechanic after taking damage.

I also considered on making labels for the upgrades, but for some reason I decided against it back then xD. It was a pretty dumb decision in hindsight.

I like the arcade style and idea, and theme is perfectly incorporated in it! Good job!

Thanks for the feedback!

This is a pretty good game! It feels like a classic roguelike where you just keep trying and trying until you succeed. It does feel a bit punishing at the start but I get if that's kinda the whole points. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Roguelike is the genre that I'm going for here, and originally I wanted to add special items and upgrades that cost money, but unfortunately I ran out of time. Maybe in the future, but no promises ;)

As for the start, I do think it's kinda difficult and unbalanced, especially if you encounter certain enemies. Again, time was an issue back then, so I had no time to balance things out xD

The game loop was pretty fun ! One thing is I could not tell when I was losing health, maybe a sfx or effect would have been great. Other then that, it was cool to explore around and upgrade the ship ! good game

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I actually did add an SFX for getting hit, but it may be too subtle or too similar to other SFX. I think visual indicators are better here.

This was pretty good honestly, found myself a little lost in it for a  bit there. It was like a satisfaction in the frustration in dying that kept me playing. You hit the theme and you created a fun play loop. Great work

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Glad it was fun to play.

The game fits the theme of the jam really well, the controls and everything were written out in the first screen so its easy to navigate and understand what needs to be done. The enemies seemed a bit awkward with the way they dropped money amounts  with the smallest enemies appearing to drop the most (just by ramming) , some of the larger enemies would drop null amounts. Aside from these small bugs, the game was enjoyable and reminded me of a few browser games I would play. Kudos to you on your submission. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for the feedback and insights! Good point on the enemies. I did little to no balancing on this one, so that's why some parts of it are a little bit off.

Also, this game was indeed inspired by several browser games that I used to play, namely Bubble Tanks and diep.io.

I think this game fits the theme pretty well and the overall design is nice! I can't seem to fullscreen it which is kind of annoying but bearable.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I kinda messed up when making the build for the game. I tried using the fullscreen feature once, and it broke everything. So, unfortunately I ended up disabling the whole feature in the page. I also should've made a downloadable build as well, but I forgot about it until the day after the deadline :/

i like how well this game fit the theme.  also i think it's funny i used this exact music on my first game jam. :)

do you want to try my game?

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah this game was one of the only thing that came to my mind when I heard the theme. The other ideas I had was too difficult to do in just 3 days.

About the music, I just took a random popular music in Pixabay that fits with the game. Funny how we end up using the same one.

I'll be happy to try out your game!

I laughed when I realized I had to pay to unlock the upgrades and hp stuff lol. That's hilarious. Fun game, could use some work on the controls and gameplay feel but otherwise fun game. Liked the music.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I went for the most straightforward idea for the theme, which is interpreting it literally xD. I originally wanted to make more features that are locked behind a paywall, but time was running out so I had to rush a few things.
