It took me a couple of tries to really understand what was going on, but then I got my head around it and made it to wave 19!
Really fun, and the art and animations are really top notch. Amazing work!
Well done!
Glad you figured things out and made it so far! Thanks for playing.
This game cleverly combines tower defense with ability management through a puzzle system. Thanks for this one.
Haha yeah. It has aspects of a tower defense, but gameplay like an autobattler so it's a bit of a mashup. Thanks for playing!
I actually forgot I was going through reviewing games for the game jam while playing this. I had such an enjoyable time, it very much reminded me of 9 kings. I will 100% be following this if you choose to continue post jam
We will! There is a discord link on the game page where I'll be posting updates and things as we go. Our current goal is to spend a month on the project adding in all of the features we couldn't in the jam and then do a post-jam rerelease on itch. But we'll need some playtesters and things before then. Then once that's done we'll focus on preparing for the steam release hopefully this year.
Really fun! Blueprints were very balanced, I had a hard time picking between them haha. Having the different classes was nice too, it made the game very repayable (though the wizard was the only one I managed to win with)
Thanks! Feel free to join this discord on the game page to keep up with the project, we are continuing it.
There is a good game and systems in there. But I would probably rework the building aspect. Give me more space. I feel like i have to less influence about the fight, i can not really build additional towers that fight, i can only buff things up. and i don`t like that aspect that i cant build towers "on the frontline" etc. Maybe give me soldiers or heros to recruit and put in front of the walls or something like that.
Maybe remove the walls and towers, have me start with only one tower and let me build the wall and other towers myself. Art, Audio, Gameplay loop is fine, besides having to less influence for my taste.
I also used the same asset pack before when i started learning godot, I like it very much. but because everything is so small in your game, the asset pack is not playing at it`s full strength or potential.
Thanks for the feedback. We have plans for the future but I like hearing everyone's perspective
I absolutely love this game. I had a great time playing it and the different classes give it instant replayability. Great call having the tiles change visually when their conditions are met. Makes it more readable. Nice to include the infinite mode as well.
I was thinking a post combat readout of the damage done might be nice. The shooting stars implementation is clever too haha. Great job you two!!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. It would be cool to have like a breakdown menu that shows you exactly how much of each stat is being applied per tile
I really love the overall gameplay! The preparation of your defenses through a grid-system was awesome, and it really had me thinking how to best format for the most optimal setup. I do think the bounty system kind of felt random and wasn't super interactive, but overall I had a great time.
Yeah you're right with the bounties, it was a late addition lol. Glad you had fun and I hope you keep up with the project!
That was loads of fun! I struggled quite a bit at first, but then managed to get to beat wave 17 using the Pawn. Funny how when we both heard bounty, our first thoughts were "grid-based inventory system roguelike". Admittedly, bounty wasn't integrated very effectively, and would be probably be scrapped if it weren't for the game jam theme, but I think it was still really fun.
Yeah our bounty system was definitely tacked on. I like the idea of side quests in our game but this was a very rough implementation of it. Thanks for playing!
very fun game, reminds me of that crops autobattler game. the only complaint is the bounty system has no effect on gameplay since i just kill every enemy that spawns and theres no way to specifically target a type of enemy. the main gemplay loop is fun and i tried multiple runs so very good job
Agreed on the bounty system. It was a late addition since I really didn't know how I wanted to integrate the jam theme into our idea. I wish the players had more agency over it for sure and that it gave more feedback. It actually does help the early game if you don't find many income structures, but definitely not the best system.
Thanks for playing!
I would play more of this if there was more to play!
More to come! Thank you!
This is extremely polished for a jam game! I also love how you integrated inventory into the physical layout of the base. I like too how the towers get more animals/icons when a bonus is being applied; although, you might want to make an outline or something too since I almost didn't notice it. Good luck with your full version!
Thanks!
Great game! I enjoyed piecing together my realm and the gameplay & shop were very smooth. I have a couple suggestions to polish the game even more:
Thanks for the feedback! So we do have some things in the game that show when towers are supported, though it's not as obvious as we'd like in a final product. For instance, the archery range does not have the archery targets on the wall until you place a military structure by it. Or the outpost doesn't have the lancer guards unless it's on the edge of the kingdom and next to a resource tile, etc... But we do plan on redoing the highlight system and having more obvious visual effects for what structures are being affected by another.
That's awesome! I'll look out for those next time I play :)
Well done on another great game! I really enjoyed playing this and I think you've done a fantastic job. In particular the character selection at the beginning was pretty neat. I got to round 6 before I died. If I didn't have other games to play and rate I'd deffo play some more. The only suggestion I could make would be to include more healing options (or smaller ones). I did get the sheep pen, but it was too big to fit into my kingdom without sacrificing most of everything else.
Thanks for playing! I hope you come back and give it another shot later! The sheep pasture isn't as punishing once you get your kingdom upgraded and I added that crit bonus to it so it would be a bit more desirable. But we have plans for a lot of items!
I really liked the Tetris-like inventory you have, with pieces having to fit together. I think the waves feel a little unbalanced, or I just kept getting unlucky with the RNG on units.
Right now all of the units are the same, they just look different. I went the a few iterations of wave scaling and wound up landing here which I think is an okay spot for now. There's definitely a challenge but once you learn there are some nice strategies you can do to win. Thanks for playing!
This was fun! Kinda like an auto-battler/tower defense game. I had some issues with dragging rewards to inventory + felt like the shop was a little confusing... I couldn't drag items from the shop to my inventory but I could to the "sell" grid. Other than that, it was really satisfying to set up my board and watch my towers shoot at the waves. The art, music and sound effects were great too! I also thought the character select was really good. Great job!
There are definitely a few quirks with the dragging/snapping that we'll have to work through but I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Very polished in basically every aspect and a lot of fun. I could see myself playing a full version of this game definitely.
Thanks! That's the goal one day.
I like it a lot! Very fun, polished, and nice to look at.
Thanks so much! I'll admit that the bounty was one of the later additions lol.
