This was an interesting FPS game and I loved the game's asthetics. It looks really well put together for such a short period of time and has a great concept. Overall, great game

Super polished, super functional, the zooming in feels good and the shots feel solid thanks to the great SFX.  You balanced so many things to make a very cohesive experience.  My only criticism is that it's really really hard to make good matches; there are a ton of combinations and the targets are super hard to keep track of at times.  If there was a an easier way to glean what a person might be, I think it would hook people even quicker; maybe as an overall base indicator when you zoom in, a person has a different colored aura/glow based on their sexual orientation so you can discern that at a glance.  One lesson I am learning in this game jam is people don't like having to read a ton of information, especially when on a timer so I'd recommend that here too.  Great job!

Developer

thanks for the feedback. it's really helpful.
I think you are spot on with the instant hook thing and probably making the game too hard - especially for a game jam audience. I did wanted the game to make people dicover funny combinations and for that, there needed to be a certain complexity, and I actually already cut categories like age and hobbies that I originally planned ;-) but adding the rotating helicopter on top of that and a slightly trippy perspective is not making things easier for the player.

Really well put together game with a lot of features, love the camera angle, was a bit tough to know what would make a good match off the bat, was trying to match all aspects like occupation etc...but still was fun to play.

Developer

thanks for the feedback. I think I added a bit too much complexity into the match making logic for a game jam audience (who's most likely only ever gonna play 1 round), but I did wanted there to be discovery of funny combinations (mainly with the occupations) I hope you found at least some of them?

Great game! The whole sniper matchmaker concept is a really clever fit for the jam theme.
Overall, I had a lot of fun playing it. Good job!

Interesting take on a sniper shooter. Was fun to play. I think a crossbow with an arrow would have been more matching the theme, and having the hit ppl get a red glow effects with hearts over coming out of them would have been better for the theme. Thanks for the game.

Developer

funny enough, there actually are heart particles when you shoot someone, but I messed up the rendering setting and you don't see them from your helicopter as it's to far away - but you can sometimes catch them in the NPC cam.

Wow, what an amazing game, everything was so well done, congratulations!

This was a fun experience. My first go around I was shooting whoever for whoever, then I dug deep into matching the kinks... KINK CONNECTION. Very fun, great take on the theme, this is very well done.

KINK CONNECTION!!! another kindman classic  * hat off *

This is an awesome game!

Two things that I noticed:
I am not sure if it is because I am using Opera as my browser, but the game was lagging a bit (turnrate was choppy and sometimes I overshot because of it.)
I have also noticed that when shooting at people's arms and legs they sometimes didn't get hit. (Now this could be because I aimed badly or something else.

Developer

performance might be an issue, because I didn't have time for optimisation and I am using a lot of assets and animators.
but shooting peoples arms and legs? did you not read the job description?

Developer

there is a downloadable exe by the way, if you want a smooth experience.

You mean you have a good looking game, with a fun idea, and a quit option, this is the whole package.

MISMATCH! LOL WHAT A GAME! WOW. THe production level of this game is unreal. I love the scope and shooting of people obvisouly with a CUPID's Helicopter and GUN of Love. But man! So good. Music was top notch as well. Great juice in the game. GREAT JORB!

I was pulled in as soon as the music hit... then the camera scroll of the city panning around with the menu overlayed. Goes so nicely with the color scheme. This was very well thought out and executed. I had no expectations going into this so I was very surprised by the sniping mechanic. I enjoyed what short window was provided to collected up to as many snipes as you could. I wish the sniping scope was more steady but I mean... you are flying around in a helicopter, so what are you supposed to expect!?

The entertainment value is peak. The characters; occupations, sexuality, and kinks are a very interesting way of choosing potential targets and matching them based on that information. This thoughtful game has a lot going on and to expand on what feels to me, a "rail shooter". There is a lot of replay value just in this small sliver of what has been made available. It's like I didn't know what to explore between looking at the environment and props, observing the people and their behavior, or actually engaging with the shooting mechanic. ~literally laughing at this character dancing outside of the nightclub (a small detail obscured in the sea of assets). It's like I'm hunting the Sims XD

You need to play this through a few times and then some to really take in everything packed into this experience.

This would be a great game to expand on and do more with!!

thank you for these thoughful words! I feel strangely "seen" in what I was trying to achieve ;-)  I did realize that the game was more challenging and maybe even obscure in what it asks the player to do than it should be for a jam game, but that makes it even more satisfying if someone takes the time to appreciate it. It was really important to me to give the player the sense of seeing a whole city (block) from far away like an ants hill (being the godly observer that you are) but then be able to take a closer look at each one of them.

BTW: you can steady your shot by slowing down the helicopter by holding "D" or get faster to a favourable position by holding "A". It doesn't give you full control over the helicopter speed, but can be used to line up some more specific shot.

This was such a sick and cool game, and I love the description that said if you don't like kinks you shouldn't like killing people too. Such an awesome concept for real, and the 3D in this game is PEAK, as well as the music and all the different comments you can get from making matches or mismatches and the cool lil deep voice, great aesthetic all around!

Very fun idea and gameplay, although a little buggy (sometimes I was aiming at someone and the aim would freak out a little, also I think sometimes the shots didn't register properly/weren't very forgiving haha). Overall I liked it a lot and found the concept really cool and creative!

Submitted(+1)

It was fun! At first, I couldn't understand why the character's orientation mattered, but then I realized we're playing as Cupid, not an assassin, lol. (that basically was in the name)

Submitted(+1)

Game itself very cool and polished but lacks of QOL features (at least volume slider) the volume of music hit very hard to my ears on start :(

Submitted(+1)

This game is HILARIOUS. I was so confused with the concept at first, but I honestly really enjoyed it. It had me giggling while playing. I only matched 3 since I was a little lost in the beginning. Totally forgot you had to right click to zoom in to see their orientation and whatnot :P This is hilarious. I can't get over this. One of the most unique games I've seen in this jam! Great job!

Great art direction! Even just seeing the main menu animation was just so cool. I think the in-game camera was tripping me up slightly, maybe because of the fov or maybe cause it was orthographic?
Also liked the little side overview UI that'd appear anytime you scope into someone, or how they float into the air when matched.

I think playing this has taught me I'm definitely not a great matchmaker though...

Developer

thanks for the feedback. yeah, the view of the city is indeed orthographic, which is a bit trippy - especially when combined with the constant (albeit slow) rotation of the helicopter and the perspective camera that renders the weapon and the helicopter stacked on top. but I really wanted the city to feel like a miniature at first glance to push this notion of a godly observer - and also: I like when things are a little trippy;-)

Nice game, well done. Very interesting concept.

Nice concept and great gameplay. The controls feels a bit weird but rather then that, the game is great
