I managed to beat the game with one reliable trick, mashing jump, left click and right click simultaneously. It basically just make me spin and fly all over the place, with "the squeeze" being the only challenging level. It's not really the preferred way to play, and I get low score for doing this. But it might be something to adjust, maybe having cooldown for the hooks so player dont spam it like I did? Otherwise it's very addictive and I enjoy this game very much! :D

Developer

Thanks for playing and letting us know what you found, glad you enjoyed it!

What you're seeing is definitely unintentional behavior, but actually it's central to the two speed run techniques that me and the other dev ended up finding :D  Instead of jumping, if you let yourself swing but keep mashing both of the grapples, you get a little speed boost from each grapple and can reach speeds way faster than swinging normally.  Alternatively, if you aim the grapples at the far wall instead of the ceiling, you can reach insane rotation speeds;  Then if you jump and bump the ceiling, you can launch yourself then guide toward the goal.  We've been perfecting these techniques, and have gotten times of 2.x or better for every level XD

It took me a long time to figure out how to use the controls properly. But after all I wanted to retry the levels to beat my time and connections number. It's difficult but addictive! Also, very nice sounds and UI.

Neat entry! Took me a minute to get a hang of the movement system. I will say though, for most levels it seemed like I was able to avoid/get away with just using one grapping and timing it with my jumps, so there were less cases where I felt the need to actually use both, especially since it seems to affect your score.

Submitted

I made two bronze and one silver on the first playthrough. Interesting way of moving through the levels, fun puzzler :)

Submitted

Neat game! Its definitely not an easy game but I could see myself getting sucked into it and optimizing my movements so I can get to the end with the least amount of connections. I don't really understand much use of the 2nd grapple though, maybe a bit of tutorialisation of how to utilize both effectively would have been great! Other than that, great work!

Fun, but brutally hard on a laptop with a touchpad!  I managed to make it through without using the 2nd grapple, though my times/counts were largely... large.  Well done :)

+1 to having a keyboard shortcut to restart.

I couldn't get past The Squeeze. I feel like I'm missing something fundamental about how to play.

I'd love it if one of the three pause buttons could be repurposed as an instant Retry button instead. Having to click the UI means never having the mouse in the desired position at the start of an attempt, which feels extremely important to do well.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, that's great feedback.  Especially with the emphasis I put on speed running, a quick reset will be addition #1 once the jam is over!

The Squeeze is probably the hardest level, it's just about staying close to the ceiling with really short grapples close to the player.  I'm glad you stuck it out long enough to get to that level, hope you enjoyed it!

Really difficult game. I was trying to get the connection cost to get full stars. SO HARD! I didn't manage to get all the way to the end. I got the section with the stepped stair lava ground level but couldn't get past it :(
Fun game though! :D

Developer

I'm happy to hear the game was enjoyable enough for you to put in the effort and go for the stars :)  Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Submitted

ha I had so much fun playing this! check out this dramatic finish shot, I won first before touching the lava. great game ty!

Developer

I'm glad to hear you had fun!  And that's the perfect way to end it right there :D

Submitted

Nice idea.
I could not get the space btn to work. So I had to quit the game.
Nonetheless, great entry!

Developer

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that, but thanks for giving the game a try.  You should be able to jump as long as you're clicked into the game, whenever you're on the ground or hanging from a grapple.  Regardless, I appreciate the feedback!

A really well made grappling system, it took some time but I mastered it. and after that levels were a smooth sail. The controls were very responsive and it felt really nice. Great job on that. Really nice integration of the theme as well. Would like to see more levels with some more obstacles which require some very precise control because it will be very satisfying to complete those levels. Overall well-done on the entry.

Developer

Thank you so much!  Since the submission clock ended, I've had ideas for a level like Too Crowded, but the blocks are all lava so you need to be really careful and use both grapples to navigate through.  I might have to pick this back up after the jam :)

This was cute, approachable, easy to play.   I was bad at it, but I could see how people would enjoy this a lot.    You could use the same mechanic but with a pausing mechanic to create more precise puzzle challenges too.

Developer

Ooh, like a Super Hot style mechanic?  Not what I was going for this time, but I could see that being really fun!  Thanks :D

Submitted

Fun, but a challenge, but once I got a feel for when to release the ropes it easier. Really enjoyed it.

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it :)

Love this game. It takes time to learn how to grapple and how to solve each level but it is satisfying at the same time. I hope you make more levels for this game.

Developer

Thank you!  It's seeming like people are really enjoying (and I know I've been having fun playing it) so I think I might add some more levels once the jam is over!

Submitted

Super frustrating and I love it! Appreciate the unlimited retries!

Developer

Thanks!  And actually, each retry costs a quarter.  You'll be billed at the end of the jam, I appreciate your patronage :)

Submitted

Lots of fun to play this, this entry was perfect. Simple, fun, and addicting, kept me in to the end, great job on this game, love it!

Developer

Thanks so much!

I voted.

Thanks!

Fun game! Realized I could spam both the left and right clicks to get some fast height moments. It's all about keeping the momentum! Good job on this entry.

Developer

So you figured out stage 1 of the speed run strats!  That was my preferred way to go fast, but the other dev found a way with a LOT of spinning...

Submitted

Addicting!

Developer

The sad thing is, I'm probably the one most addicted to it :D

Submitted

This was super fun! I really need to practice my Batman grappling hook skills.

Developer

Glad you liked it, thanks for playing!
