what a delightful little jam gem. the setting was very charming and the graphics felt special... nostalgic in a certain way, that I can't really put my finger on. I also liked the unusal screen setup with half of the screen filled by the controls section. I think gameplay wise it could use a little more challenge, both on the controls side and on the level design, but it already is a lot of fun as it is.
Thank you for playing ;)
I really like the wiring/connection concept, that’s an interesting take on the theme! It would definitely be interesting to see how you could add a little more complexity to the connection mechanic as the main gameplay element, maybe with some more time and a complex level you could connect multiple nodes together or something? One quality of live improvement I would suggest is being able to toggle the movement on or off rather than having to mash the button (or having the on/off switch and a ‘pulse’ button for one cycle), since the mashing was a little repetitive. Very cool entry
Hello, thank you for playing. There was a plan to add another wire, that woud be collected and then used in another room, but I started building the game very late in the Jam bc of the busy week, so a lot was cut out of the plan. I totally agree on the suggestion to let the player move without breaking the mouse :) and that is already ready in the update that goes live after Jam ends.
This game fits the theme well! I did struggle a bit with the controls and was able to collect all the stars, but how do I collect the parts?
Hi, thank you for playing. Parts collects the same way as stars, rolling through them.
Interesting movement mechanics and take on the theme.
Wish the game had fullscreen though. There is a checkbox in the itch page settings to add a fullscreen toggle.
Did you opt for Unreal Engine 4 because it used to have web export?
Do you normally use 5.x? If so, how did you find the process of working in 4.x?
Hi, thanks for checking out. Yeah, I mainly jumped to the UE4 version because of web support. For small games like this, there is no big difference in engine workflow through versions, apart from UI differences. Itch.io's fullscreen toggle doesn't work on the UE4 game. I can add my own full-screen button messing with code in the HTML file, but that breaks canvas rendering a bit, adds a white vertical line on the right (you can check that in my other game "Under Review"), and while I found a workaround for this, that needed a bit of testing, and I didn't have time for this in the jam.
Wow, love this game. Using the connections theme just to move?! And a TV?! Seriously?! 😂. Lovely game, well done.
Wait till u see what my microwave can do :D Thanks for playing.
I didn't realize at first which TV I was supposed to be moving. I saw the floating, spinning, cartoon-y TV on the left and assumed that was who I'd control, but the movements didn't appear to be working. Finally I connected to a valid direction, and that's when I realized the actual player character was the 3D TV in the bottom right which I hadn't really noticed.
This movement system makes great use of the Connections theme, and works well. I did have a bit of issue sometimes with properly connecting the wire to the desired arrow, I found I had to click further 'past' my target for it to be recognized. I also thought, at first, that I could link up more than one arrow at a time for diagonal movement, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
I enjoyed the context relevant sound effects, the birds chirping when you're next to the window, or the knocking when you approach the door.
Since there's no time limit and not roving obstacles or enemies I was able to methodically collect all four stars before picking up the third and final piece to complete the game.
Thank you for the detailed review. Glad you enjoyed the game. I am gathering all the feedback given, and while I'm not planning to expand on the game further after the jam, I will definitely implement all suggestions and bug fixes given to me. Thank you very much ;)
Interesting way to move
Thank you for playing
Awesome little game. What a genius way to explore the room! Rolling the TV like that was so satisfying. The connections type for movement was a great feature as well. Initially I thought I wouldn't like it but after a couple connections, somehow felt great. I would love to have more rooms to explore. The concept works great and I enjoyed it. Great job!
Thank you for playing
I cannot play your game :( I get this message once the browser finished downloading it
Hmm, have no idea what that means, sorry for that, and thanks for trying ;)
Nice choices for visuals and the song. It was pretty easy, but that's never a bad thing. Very cute little story and having the connections being made on the circuit board was a fun idea.
Thank you!
Cute game, nice atmosphere! If you want to make it more challenging, only allow a certain number of moves with the stars replenishing your power banks so you can move around more.
Interesting idea. Thank you
Nice game, good job. :)
Thanks for playing ;)
I liked the concept of this. I can imagine this expanding into more complex scenarios in a larger game. Nice work!
Thanks for playing ;)
I really liked this one because it gave me nostalgia for these old Pixar games I played when I was little. Idk if it was on purpose but if it was: great job!
Also nice mechanic. I just thought it would upgrade to multiple wires or more buttons or a more complicated net of connections later on, but I know how little time we had so this was totally fine :D
Thanks for playing and for the review. Planned a bit bigger game with upgrades and 1 more level, but started to work on it very late, made it in the last three evenings, so the bigger part was just to cut off the plan. Glad u liked it ;)
Interesting concept! Good work!
thank you
Interesting take on the theme :)
Thanks for playing
nice Jam game.
w of the TV parts could have been easier to spot :), I had t watch your YouTube vid (great job adding that!) to see what I was missing.
But nice connections theme game :)
Thank you
Odd and unique little game, The type of title why I love jams. Well done!
Thank you
super unique concept, kinda weird in the best way! i really enjoyed playing, super relaxing. nice job :)
Thank you
What a delightful little one-screen collect-a-thon. My only complaint is the collision detection when you release a connection feels a bit smaller than it is. Several times, I would drag a wire, let go, and it would vanish when I thought it should probably connect. With only 4 sockets in the whole TV, it ought to be trivial to make the collision radius for connections a little bigger than the graphics, though i could see this falling apart in a more advanced or procedural version of the game where the TVs in every level each have a different, tightly-integrated system of components for you to hook up. Overall, a fun, cozy collect'em up. And I loved the occasional creaking floorboards!
Thank you for playing, glad u noticed the floor sound :D
