When my brother and I were growing up, our dad would never let us play with his multi-meters which were scattered all over the house and workshop because they “weren’t toys”. After all these years, you sir have scratched that itch for me >:D
I understand the feel xD, now I'm a grown-up man, I bought my own multimeter (and I almost never use it because I don't know the dam' I'm supposed to do with this, I only use it to test our kid's toys batteries)
Thank you for trying our game :)
I innocently played tetris the entire time on the first box, I think Im fired lol. I like the incorporation of minigames into the theme, great job gg ty!
Don't worry, playing Tetris is part of the job, every seasoned electrician would confirm it :D
Thank you for trying our game!
The visuals is well put together, the script works and theres a game loop! Great job assembling a game, its not easy, specially in 10 days.
I was able to complete the tetris mini games, but not the pipe one. I cant rotate them, and pressing the wrong buttons quits the challenge.
I would recommmend controls displayed so we know what control we are allowed to do during a minigame. Just so pressing the wrong one wont be a trial error! Findind clients in the town is giving it longetivity and replay value, however, it is a bit frustrating to not know how to solve an important puzzle XD
You know all this and how to fix it. Focus on what works, because its great! Specially the menu page, using a voltometer is a great idea.
Thank you for the feedback and for playing our game! We had a blast at making it, especially since it becames a little family adventure, doing it with my wife and son. I am aware there is a lot of work left (and I dig it!) but that wasn't our goal for our first game jam :) we just wanted to have fun together. Now the game jam is done, it's about time to get serious x)
Thank you for playing!
It was fun trying to find the different boxes, and loved playing Tetris again! The fast turning when you wave the mouse around is a bit rough on my eyes, perhaps that could be a bit slower/smoother, but love the little neighbourhood!
Thank you for trying! I already put the sensitivity at a low value, but I agree,it should be lower, and the player should be able to change it using the options menu.
Thanks for the feedback!
Interesting. Didn't expect to find Tetris inside an electricity box. cool!
Didn't you know? Playing Tetris is a requirement to become an electrician ;D
Thank you for trying our game!
Really cute aesthetics with low poly assets, nice menu design, however I was unsure of where I needed to go for the quest, maybe a marker on a radar or minimap would be nice.
Thank you for trying! Yes, this is the test level, it's really not well indicated, but I have plans for navigation. I want the search for the boxes to be a part of the game, so probably not a minimap, but some maps scattered around, street names, and box names according to the street, something like that.
Thanks for the feedback!
I loved the sound effects (especially those birds in the background) and the controls of the walkabout mode. Unfortunately, I couldn't understand the minigame. I know it's Pipe Dream. I know how to play Pipe Dream. What I don't understand is how to experiment with it and figure out what the controls are without the minigame suddenly ending.
Did I win?Did I lose? Is it a bug? No way of knowing.(Come to think of it, that beautiful main menu was tough to figure out, too. I clicked everywhere with the mouse, then instinctively tried WASD, before figuring out it was the arrow keys. Maybe this game just needs non-diagetic elements to supplement the UI?)
Web optimization felt a little weak. Have you tried reducing the physics update rate in the Options and turning on Physics Interpolation? Pre-caching the sounds would have been nice, but since it's not an action game, the hitches at the start that only happen once aren't a deal-breaker, just an annoyance.
Thank you for the feedback! There will be a lot to do regarding the minigames, an howto popup probably, some timers to let the player understand what's happening, and some visual feedback when doing an action.
I'll be honest, I don't know anything about web optimization. I simply exported it for the web without changing anything. I didn't had optimization in mind for the game jam. I'll take note of your suggestions and will read more about this in the documentation.
Thank you again!
You got very lucky. Most godot webplayer games hitch when loading textures or sounds, which by default, happens when the object is first about to be displayed on-screen, or the first time a sound needs to play. The technique to avoid this is called Asset Preloading. you also might want to pre-warm particles if your game uses those. Google the terms for more.
Good luck! 👍
NB: The main menu should be working with up and down input to crank the wheel, either with WASD, up down arrow or up down axis with a game controller. Options details with left and right input: WASD, left/right arrow or left/right axis with a game controller. Did WASD not work for you in the main menu?
I really liked your UI design with the electrician thingy :)
Thank you! I hope you still enjoyed others parts of the game x)
I liked the minigames you had to do, but I got stuck at one and was kinda softlocked :/
Really liked the concept! At first was a bit lost about what to do but soon got the hang of it. The fact that you used different famouse minigames (even the pirating minigames from Bioshock) was a really cool touch!
The pirating minigame from BioShock? I'm sorry I did not play BioShock except for Infinite. So far there is a tetris-like (with a twist being the line must be made at the lightning height), the other one (I assume this is the one you are talking about?) is a clone of Pipemania/Pipe Dream, an old video game from the end of the 80's :) it had a lot of clones over the ages, like tetris.
Thank you for playing our game!
Ooh yes that's the one, honestly I didn't know about Pipe Dream, I learned something new today thanks to you 🤣
But you should play the Bioshock games, those are really awesome and inspiring games 😁
Interesting and fun game for sure. Just be careful with the already mentioned problems (navigation and puzzle difficulty), because the frustration can get in the way of the fun.
Thank you for playing our game. As I get more and more comments, I grow more and more impatient to work on it to fix the mentionned issues :)
Love the main menu. Solid little game; just needs a little polish for things already mentioned.
Thank you for trying our game :)
Interesting little concept. Navigation could definitely use an update.
Thank you for trying our game. I'm eager to pursue the development of the game according to the feedback we received, I'm just waiting for the game jam to end :)
Thanks for the feedback!
Pretty neat ideas here, The tetris feels a bit annoying due to having to get to a certain height and the blocks dropping incredibly slow and I didn't seem to see any button to instant drop the blocks. cool idea just a bit hard to play. The pipe dream game I couldn't seem to get to work, I'd lay a single pipe and the voltage would go through way to fast for me to do anything else. Not sure If I was just playing wrong but I tried several times and the most I got down was two blocks. Cool concept though just needs some refinement.
Thank you for trying our game. Yes, I want to lower the max height of the connection line in the tetris game. I'll try to make it vary according to a difficulty the player can set in the future. I agree about the button to drop the blocks. You can keep pressed the down button to make it fall quicker but it's still to slow.
Thank you for your feedback!
I liked the visuals and the electric boxes having different names. Got to the box and Tetris struck me down. The main menu is awesome, love it!
Thank you very much! The main menu seems to have a lot of fans :D I'll make the minigames rules clearer once the game jam is finished. Well, not immediatly then, I'll have a lot of refactor to do beforehand.
Thank you for trying our game!
Good idea and I liked the graphics. Struggled a bit to find the right box, perhaps highlight that or add a mini map to guide the player? Well done!
Thank you, glad you liked it! Navigation sure needs an upgrade, I already have ideas in mind, minimap is not one of them because I want the search to be part of the game, but I think I will add maps scattered along the level, like you can find a map in a city with the "You are here" mark. I thought about highlight, I don't know yet, I like it to be diegetic, that's why I added a sound when a box activates, to localize it approximately by ear. I think the sound doesn't expand enough. However it excludes people with hearing issues. Maybe a focus mode one can activate by a keypress, to darken the surrounding except for the box.
Thank you for playing our game :)
Great idea, nice graphics, but it's not very clear how to solve the minigames. The camera freezes and doesn't allow 360 rotation, and some of the electrical boxes zoom in strangely before starting the minigame. Overall, it's fun to play.
Thank you! Yes, I intend to add a help system to display an howto before you play a minigame for the first time. As it wasn't intended for the start, I had no time to implement it before the deadline as it involves a big amount of refactoring. I suppose the camera freeze you're talking about is due to the mouse reaching the edge of the viewport if your playing the web version. Once outside of the viewport, the mouse movement events are not sent to the game anymore. It's an issue I will have to look at thoroughly. And yes, it does a tricky turn sometimes when zooming at some of the boxes, I suppose it has to do with the global rotation value of the camera trying to reach the correct angle. Also in the todo list :)
Thank you for playing it!
Yup, that's exactly what I found. I can't wait for it to get fixed so I can try it out again at full capacity.
Very interesting game. I was a little confused where to go, but I got very invested with the tetris mini-game. I wasn't entirely sure how the other mini-game worked. I do like the look of the town, and Gobot fits the theme quite well in my opinion. Great job!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it, I will work on the navigation after the game jam. I'm so sorry about Gobot, he's not here to stay, but he sure adds a great amount of polish to our prototype.
Best menu so far.
Thank you! It seems to be the most appreciated feature so far, by the comments x) maybe I should better do UI instead of video games :D (I won't, I want to continue making video games)
i liked the game too. And you can use this type of diegetic ui in game
I like your interpretation of the theme! Navigation was a little frustrating because the mouse would reach the edge of the window and the camera would get stuck when I try to turn. Good work!
Thank you! Yes, it has been reported, the web version seems to ignore the mouse capture and it goes out of the window when it shouldn't. Maybe is it on purpose, maybe I miss something in the web export. Thanks again!
This is probably one of the most polished entries I’ve played in the jam so far. Everything feels very well made — the gameplay, visuals, and overall presentation work together really nicely.
I had a lot of fun playing it. Great work!
Thank you very much! Glad you liked it :)
