a bit hard to master movement, but then I got rank A multiple times.
Really nice! This reminds me of a souped up Canabalt, one of my favorites. I hope you contiune with this and add more levels - maybe next level when collecting all golden yo-yos? (I didn't collect them all yet, but if you're already doing that I apologise :D)
Nice work!
This one is straight up gold, hard to believe its a jam game!
That was fun! The art and animation are amazing and vibe really well with the groovy, driving music. Really cute character design, too. I like the mechanic with the yo-yo and that you can try to focus on different things each run - collecting the yo-yos, tricks or speed. The movement felt really good and polished, too.
Love the art but the descriptions of abilities aren't very clear.
cool, just it needs some moire polish, also, the character didnt really match with the enviorment, but overall, great job!
Sanic and Penny's Big Breakaway, 10/10
The movement felt great once mastered. It definitely took learning to fully understand what was going on, but I found the movement addictive once I got the hang of it. Finding all the golden yo-yos was also a fun little side challenge. I love the art style and character design for the game.
I love the character’s design and animations, lovely stuff. One thing that bugged me was that using a yo-yo almost felt like it stopped all your momentum, and didn’t fit with the overall pace of the game. That said, this was an enjoyable experience nontheless.
The art and vibes are so cool. It was a bit tough to get a hang of it, I had to read some comments to figure out some stuff. Even now I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly. Found it a bit tough to go fast, but whenever I did it was a lot of fun! Great job! :D
Now this is great. I love how the movement feels, and it has a lot of potential for a full game. That being said, it's a bit hard to understand, like how to recharge the yoyo or do air tricks, and it should be explained more.
Hello! I've done a few runs of your game and I have some feedback! However I will preface this by saying that these 'speedrun' type games are not usually my thing, but I still have some observations.
I hope this feedback is constructive and doesn't come off as negative! Overall, I had fun with this even if it isn't my normal thing! I could see this being a popular speedrunning game with a bit more polish and some more levels!
Have a wonderful day and good luck in the Jam!
A pretty enjoyable game!
Reminded my friends and I of Sonic. Half expected a boss at the end of the round, haha!
I love everything about this! So cool. The art, especially the animations, like riding the yoyo, are awesome. And while the yoyo to pull yourself up has been done before, I feel like you did a really good job implementing it. Doing tricks in the air is all a cool risk/reward system to build your meter back up. The only criticism I have is that the signs did not do a great job at teaching me how/why the mechanics worked. You should make this into a full featured game!
love the feeling of speeeeed , very cool
beautiful art :D the platforming feels nice its like sonic with a little mini grappling hook
Super fun, loved the controls and art. With some polishing I think the character would feel even more fun to control... the music was also fun :)
Fun concept! Fun to zoom around and the level looked great!
I think you could improve the "flow" of the game a lot by having the yoyo add to your momentum instead of stalling like it currently does.
I hope you keep working on it after the jam!
Yoooo, 1st of all the cover is sick! Super clean art style. Gameplay's also smooth, but I generally suck in these speed based platformers :(
I think it'd go even harder if I were good, but hey, its smooth and it looks nice. Good job ^^
I really liked the level and art design! The animation for the running/riding was very cartoonish in a way that I appreciated. I struggled a bit with getting the yo-yo to actually work the way I felt like it should, most of the time just killed the momentum instead of making it feel more dynamic, probably more user error than anything. When I could get it timed right it felt nice and fun though. The music and sound design is also really nice! Great submission and hope you had a great jam!
