I enjoy that there are multiple levels to play through! Keeps the loop feeling fresh since the environment and fish change. I wish the fish were a little more lenient on how you could catch them. I had to have the hook exactly in front of them, which was a bit finnicky for me to get right. But I'm also no fishing expert, so my results probably just reflect my own skills haha

Really nice job! I liked the anime poses/flashes when you get one on the hook!

Fun, though my reel vanished when I got to space - not sure if I just wasn't pulling the fish in fast enough or what. But I liked the voice acting and overall vibe (even if the angry bird guy needs to chill out a bit).

If you continue working on it, it would be nice to not have to spin the mouse to pull the fish in. Even just an alternative control option for the space bar would help my wrist with coordination.

Nice work!

Thank you for the comment!

We'll definitely be looking to update the game soon with some bugfixes and qol changes!

singlehandedly tanked the premium worm economy with this one. really great art and i like the mixed medium approach, very unique. having different environments really made it feel like going on a journey (: fun fun fun

i had to be careful with this game bc i am famous for getting suuuper addicted to fishing games, which doubles as being a kind of expert on fishing games. so that being said, this game did hook (lol) me. the art is pristine and the simple gameplay is easy to learn, and surprisingly tough to master in a way. i think if this game had a slight amount more polish and content, and maybe some more cohesion with all the different art in the game, this could easily be a full release and i would probably buy it, though my friends might try to stop me lol. <3 love it

Developer

Honestly i hope we can polish it more once we can edit stuff!!  im so glad you liked it <3

Wonderful game and I was indeed taught how to fish, I bet the fish in space tastes a lot better too, on my second playthrough in the space level one fish was very adamant on not leaving my bait so I couldn't fish any other fish and starved that day, awesome stuff!

Submitted(+2)

I honestly wasn't expecting this game to be a mix of chill but also persona esque fishing game! There's so much love put in this game and I could definitely tell! I'm not sure if this is intentional but in the space level I always have the fish stuck in my line whenever I cast it. Overall, its such a fun time and I adore everything in here! Awesome work!

I don't think my bait is working, I knew I should've went with premium worms 😭 still had fun tho, fishing's always fun hehe

Lemme go into my little bich mode.
Art is great, BUT implementation is ass, style is all over the place. What do I mean by that.

  1. st- Main menu, there we have gorgeous pixel art, but if we press on Leaderboard, we have this out-of-place font and ugly red button.
  2. nd - The Fish. Look at screenshot, PIXELS ARE DIFFERENT SIZES. This fish has twice as thick outline for no reason. You shouldn't have scale that fish, you should redraw it in desired size.
  3. rd - The button. Game wants to combine hand drawn art and pixel art, and that's fine, but if this button is supposed to be hand drawn, why it has pixelated font then?
  4. th - pause menu is below player, yelling someone and clock for no reason and here it is, totally different button with different and ugly font
  5. th - even more ugly buttons and default godot text input which is obviously out of place.

Sound is fine, didn't notice anything too bad about it idea is quite creative and playing this game is pretty fun.

I really enjoyed the game. really well made game, really great art and music, Really appreciate the voicelines as well. Great job!! <3

Amazing art, its the first thing that popped out to me when playing this! As for the game itself, its fun but I feel like there should have been a bigger emphasis on being quick, since the timer is super tight, but the music is extremly relaxing, and the timer doesn't even make a sound, even when its about to run out.  I also would like to see a gameplay difference between the 3 characters in a future update, and im not sure if this is a me problem, but the leaderboard was empty even after I finished. Solid entry overall!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

Hopefully there wasn't a bug with the leaderboard, but it should've taken about 5 second to populate.

Submitted(+2)

I checked again and you're right, it takes a while to populate. it's a bit more than 5 seconds though, which might be why I didn't see it haha

The artwork is amazing, it is clear you went for a visually stunning game and you did that very successfully, the gameplay was nice, but felt a bit repetitive and with no desired goal to go after, you try to get a high score to go on a leaderboard, but I didn't feel very engaged with it, especially you can still go to the next level even if you caught one small fish, but it can be only a personal preference, was more interested in seeing the three characters visuals, but overall for a game done in seven days it is unreal, amazing work ♥

Small bug i found, on the third level, for some reason every time I cast it, a fish gets sent with the reel, and I can't catch it nor any other fish because it seems to be attached to the hook but also when i draw it near me, i just get that i can cast again, and when i do, the fish is still attached to the hook.

The finished artwork for this game is stunning! Really happy to see a fishing-themed game as well, I think the reel as the spinning mechanic worked out beautifully. Unfortunately the skill issue fever caught me, and I was not so great at fishing! Just like a real day on the lake, another day empty handed LOL.

The game play is a bit simple but it's smooth and nails the mechanic well. Paired with the wonderful art, the sound design, and the overall character in a game like this: it proves to be a fantastic work. :)

230 points! I hope that says enough about how much I love fishing games :D

I really like the art, and the rotation mechanic is very well done. Great job!

I literally CANNOT overstate HOW MUCH I LOVE THE ART AND THE VOICELINES AAAAAA I love this game

The game looks amazing, and the audio was really good too. Unfortunately, it was a bit difficult for me to hold the mouse and spin it around fast, so I didn't do that well. But its mostly a skill issue on my part.

This is just my opinion, but I do have 1 gripe with the game. The fish don't seem to try and go for the bait (maybe it does, I'm not a 100% sure but if there is, the proximity feels too low), but instead has a set movement. Only if the hook comes close to the fish head, does it get snagged. That kind of makes the game become  more of timing your hooks to land and also timing the rate of its descent, because if it lands close but it just so happen that the fish is facing the other way, the hook might descend too low and misses the fish head. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but it did make the game significantly harder to me and felt a bit tedious.

Overall, the game is great and I really liked the art.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! We’ll definitely play around with the fish/bait logic some more. But as of right now, it is mostly about timing/getting it close to the fish face.

Oh... My... God! This is amazing, you managed to create this very serious masterpiece in just 7 days?? I bow upon your team. At least I managed to get a place in the leaderboard. Amazing references, spinning mechanics, music and visuals. 10/10

Thank you for the kind words!

Fantastic artwork, very stylish, it makes the gameplay feel very intense. Major props for getting a leaderboard implemented in jam timeframes too. I had fun, well done :)

Submitted(+2)

What a great, polished game. The artwork went so above and beyond what it needed to and I loved that. Absolutely nailed the serious vibe of the jam.

It was probably my own fault for trying to play this on a trackpad but that was quite hard hahaha. But I really did love that you focused more on quality than quantity. There are a number of games this jam that are long but stretch out that experience, but you really jam pack (ha) a good game into a short time, and I respect it.

Fun game, really love the art and sound.

The reel was a bit tough to use with a mouse and I didn't really understand why I was failing to catch fish.
